... for taking something that was broken (at least for me) and making it worse.

So, I had moderate success at conquering the dreaded Banter Bug on the 360 version: my major complaint is that Iron Bull and Cassandra had 3 exchanges in maybe 20+ hours of time with them in the party (not counting combat.)

About a month ago I bought a One, and my 1st game was, naturally as I'm a huge Dragon Age fan, was Inquisition.  I had the unique, well among my friends anyway, viewpoint of being able to compare the game between last gen & current gen.  I was blown away by how populated Haven was after the prologue and other things where the 360 version was stripped down to only its essential parts; it was such a full experience... then I began to expand my Inquisition and here is where Banter amongst them has taken a nose dive:

  • I hear occasional music, but little else with a party of Vivienne and Sera.  They have had 1 exchange in the many hours I've had them in my party; Cassandra, Sera & Vivienne... that was my A-Team on the 360 version.  Now, if I choose that team, all I'll hear is the wind howling.
  • Sera and Solas do not speak; as with Vivienne & Sera the 3rd companion is silent.  With Sera in the party no one will even say "This looks like a good place to camp."
  • Iron Bull and Cassandra have renewed their vows of silence on a new console generation... Hooray for me...
  • Blackwall and Vivienne, so far, appear to prefer awkward silence, but I'm not quite ready to call that one bugged just yet.
  • Likewise with Vivienne and Varric.

And yes, I've tried "blood magic" remedies listed in other threads, such as:

  • Mounting/dismounting the horse then taking a rest
  • Clearing the "new" marker from Codex entries, inventory & journal
  • Playing whilst not connected to EA Servers

In conclusion, I'm proof the "Banter Bug" has not been exterminated.  BioWare, maybe you want to keep working on that for patch 6, or whatever number you're up to now?  All because you had to make banter random instead of at fixed locations - like the previous games.  Seriously, did anyone complain that in Origins, Awakening or II that there was too much banter?  I just spent 1/2 an hour in the Forbidden Oasis walking in a circle, just to hear one banter and got nothing.  If this hadn't made me severely irritated, I would have thought the footprints in the sand was kind of cool.

Let me as you a question, because I seriously am curious.

Do you think Bioware can fix this and chooses not to willingly?

Well, they could have made it locational and avoided the problem altogether.

But they didn't, so that statement is meaningless. Do going think Bioware would fix it if they could or do you think they are intentionally not doing anything?

I like the banter system in Inquisition...better then Origins or 2.

Clearly members of the Inquisition are sworn to vows of Silence while on duty

No, it was just a rant. I did not expect to influence any opinions I just had to get that off my chest.  I've devoted hundreds of hours on the 360 version and expected to spend as much or more on the One, considering the DLC exclusivity of Jaws of Hakkon (at least for consoles) and not being able to experience small but, at least to me, critical component of the game that would not have been a problem if Inquisition had the banter protocol the previous games had.

Honestly the banter is weaker in this game then past ones anyway, but I do feel bad for people who can't get it to work.  i truly do!  I hope a fix is eventually found for those affected by this bug.
