Right now I'm a Level 12, with only 78 armor rating. I die rather quickly.

Get silverite (from Emprise du Lion) and build yourself some warrior armor - silverite armor do not have class restrictions.

Hissing Wastes also has a merchant that sells armor and the best (not sure?) armor schematics in game.

Crafting is really your best option. You find some schematics, others are sold by merchants, the more of the main item it needs, the better it will be and, of course the better materials you use, the better armor you can make.

You want to focus on upping Dexterity as much as possible for a Rogue, which means armor and armor upgrade schematics that have as much utility leather slots as possible. I'm using Sturdy Prowler Armor and Prowler Armor Arms - you can buy both at the merchant in Hissing Wastes. The Superior Prowler Armor is even better as it has one more utility leather slot - but I've never used it as you need the Short List perk and I always forget to get it. Then you want either Great Bear Hides or (easier to get) Snoufleur Skins as they up Dexterity most.

While you're getting lost in Hissing Wastes trying to find the merchant, or dodging high level enemies who will darn near one-shot you in Emprise du Lion while scavenging silverite, head down to Redcliffe where you can pickup masterwork scout armor (epic purple armor) that almost doubles your current armor for about 1100 gold. Note you can also get this for free if you can find the map Sketch of Enavuris River in the exalted plains, but I honestly can't remember where you pick that up.

I used that armor for the longest time in my current playthrough. Then I used it as a hand-me-down for Sera ![]()

Thinking about making some of that Dalish Warrior armor with Silverite for my archer. Who happens to be Dalish.

I personally use the Warden Scout Armour which you get as a schematic from a quest in Crestwood. The quest (I think) is picked up from some guy in Crestwood Village concerned about a botanist who when you find her tells you to slay a wyvern. When you do and return she'll give you the schematic.

Judith is who you are referring to. Yeah I like that armor too.

I am currently still new to the Dragon Age games. I would like some assistance with figuring out what armor to use for my rougue, or if there is a special place to buy from or find decent armor.
Right now I'm a Level 12, with only 78 armor rating. I die rather quickly.
I think most most folk missed the part about you being level 12 and a rogue, no point in rushing to Emprise Du Lion or Hissing Wastes
Easy solution, head to the Exalted Plains, farm some Sonfluers hides then head to Val Royouex and buy Teir 2 Rouge schematic or getting a less, expensive but just as good schematic from the Dalish in the Exalted Plains and you'll be good until you hit level 18/19 enemies
Enjoy my friend

Snoufleur and Silverite is often your friend as a Rogue. But it also depends a little on your race.
If you're Dalish there's a pretty sweet Dalish Hunter armour (elf-trained only) for sale in the Hissing Wastes.
If you're a Dwarf there are carta armours too.
