Unfortunately I suffered from the Silverite Mine equipment bug in the Wending Woods.

On the first play-through, I was able to recover my companions' equipment, but not my own. I read on a forum somewhere that you can get around this bug if you load a save point before entering the mine (and I did), and then you strip your character naked before entering the mine so that your equipment can't be taken away from you.

I decided to take that approach, but then when I woke up in the dungeon, ALL of my inventory had been taken away - not just the stuff that my characters were wearing.

I read online that if you have a save point AFTER entering the mine, you're basically screwed. If the game is saved after entering the mine, the bug has already taken effect. I decided to delete all my saves that occurred after entering the mine to see if this would make a difference. Nope - same problem. I woke up in the dungeon again and ALL of my inventory was gone.

At this point, I feel like my best option is to go back to Vigil's Keep and store literally every piece of inventory that I want to keep before returning to the mine, but I really don't feel like doing that.

I don't care if this is just an expansion pack - this is a huge turn-off for me. Inventory is a really fundamental part of this game, and I just can't believe that BioWare wouldn't fix such a serious bug. What are my options for dealing with this?

I don't use the description "immersion breaking" much but when my entire party had to go into that mine wearing only their undies, I was not impressed. I had trouble with that mine too and had to go back to old saves to get work things out. I haven't played the game lately so can't tell you exactly what you should do.

There is another bug in that mine that keeps you from getting one of the drops from a major enemy there, maybe a wevryn? If you are on PC, you can get a mod to fix that problem and there might be a mod to help you with the missing gear problem, if you feel like dealing with it more.

So my suggestion (if you want to go to the trouble) is to look on Nexus for any mods that will help with the Silverite Mine, if you are on PC.

The bug only effects the gear you are wearing at the time.
All your other gear is in a chest you will find later.

I don't think it's your entire party that has to go in in their undies, just your PC.  But yeah, that's the only workaround I've found is to save right before you go into the mine, remove clothes/equipment, then head in.

Items equipped by companions can also trigger the bug... I've spent more time than I'd like to admit, replaying the capture sequence over and over and over, removing items from party members to find out exactly WHAT the problem gear is in each of my playthroughs.

In one game, it was the Imperium ring that is part of Nathaniel's vanilla gear... I think he has the Dusk one?  When I removed the ring from him, the bug disappeared. But in another playthrough, that ring was fine and I found that Anders' Fox's Pendant amulet was the guilty party.

The earliest sign that the bug has hit is that the background behind the Architect when the Warden-Commander wakes up on his table will be solid black, rather than looking like this:

Spoiler

The next obvious sign will be in the cell, if one or more party members are in their underwear rather wearing commoner clothing. Ditto if any items are still in the party inventory or any gear is still equipped at that point.

tl; dr: If there is a black background in the aforementioned cutscene, if any party members are not wearing commoner clothing in the cell, or if any gear remains equipped or in inventory, it is possible that playing forward from that point will mean that any items removed by the game's scripting will be unrecoverable.

If you mean your inventory is empty when you wake up in the cell, it's supposed to be. All that stuff will be in a chest near the Qunari merchant at the end of the dungeon. If it's not empty and your character is naked, that's a sign the bug is at play.

Having a save with the bug doesn't matter if you reload a save from before entering the mines. The bug won't jump over, so there is no need to delete all your saves to successfully do a bug-free reload. By now I just strip my character of all their equipment before entering, because every time I don't I end up with the stupid bug.

I went ahead and applied the Silverite Mines bugfix from Nexus Mods - this fixed the problem. Thanks for the suggestion, robertmarilyn  :)

It took me a little while to realize that you're actually supposed to have everything in your inventory taken away - that didn't happen the first time.

Thank you all for your insights. This makes me wonder if I shouldn't apply more of these bug fixes before I continue. It's definitely immersion-breaking to have to play through something more than once.

So if you have no other saves before entering the mine, your gear is lost forever?

One time Nug Crusher caused the bug.  I just reloaded and unequipted that one item.  I sort of go, what item caused it this time sort of thing.

Before the mod came out I just purchased some stuff off the vendor at the keep to use temporarily and relied heavily on my team. I left all the good stuff on my warden in the box at Vigils till after I finished the mines portion of the game.  Thank goodness it's just that one place.  Did Bioware never fix the issue with the mine?
