As an American I always enjoy asking foreigners how many aircraft carriers their country has.
Maintaining good relations with people in other countries?

I agree of course that we have caused plenty of bad. But what country hasnt at some point done something bad? I think America gets the most hate because we are the undisputed world power right now. With their fair share of bad to be fair.
People don't like the idea of America because they tend to act like they have to get involved in everything. I'm talking from a country point of view. There are probably a decent amount that prefer to keep their noses out of everyone's business.
America should become a Switzerland... no one cares about the Swiss XD
I'm speaking in what I've seen and heard
And yeah, we involve ourselves in everything, but most of the time our help is asked for. People are more then willing to accept american aid and money.
And as for being like the Swiss, that would be nice, but we have far too many military alliances and nations that depend on us militarily for us to be like Switzerland.
I mostly agree with you here though, DD, I think your points are fair.

In my experience, Europeans are 50/50 with Americans. Had one person from Belgium tell me that they can't stand Americans because we're all obnoxious that love to drink, cuss and disrespect others. What a way to generalize.
9 out of 10 Australians I meet on the internet are actually really nice, I love them tbh.
Always disliked how most the Middle East detests us tbh. I for one have always had a slight obsession about deserts, pyramids, camels, their culture and music. Even took Arabic classes years ago.
I've visited a few countries in the past 2 years (meeting BSNers) and I didn't run into anyone disliking me because I am American. But the people in Paris looked like they were terrified of me once I started speaking.
"IT'S AN AMERICAN!"
Some of my very very close friends are from all over the world though, so I don't let a little thing like distance or our countries determine my relationship with them. Just remember that ignorance is everywhere, but with out ignorance there wouldn't be cognizance.
It's really funny because most Middle Easterners that I've spoken to have been very polite and friendly to me...well I guess there's no saying that you can't hate someone while smiling to their face, then there is the whole concept of "Taqiyya". Anyway they were pretty happy to exchange Arabic for English, unfortunately my webcam committed suicide after seeing me naked for the first time so I couldn't continue on with the language exchange.
The only foreign country I lived in was Germany, I was really very young at the time but the people there seemed nice...I didn't speak German so for all I know they could have been insulting me right to my face. If I ever make it to Paris I can fake my way, plus I have a French-Canadian surname ![]()

Lol, our supposed top competitor barely even has a navy.As an American I always enjoy asking foreigners how many aircraft carriers their country has.

Today the Russian navy possesses around 270 warships including surface combatants, amphibious ships, submarines and auxiliaries.
Of the 270 ships, just 125 or so are in a working state. And of those 125, only around 45 are oceangoing surface warships or submarines that are in good shape and deployable.
All the above figures come from Dr. Dmitry Gorenburg of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University.
By comparison, the U.S. Navy possesses some 290 warships. Pretty much all of them are well-maintained, deployable, oceangoing vessels.

The US is acting like the UN. Which shows that UN is failing. It's too busy playing "don't upset anyone" to do anything. It needs to become it's own independent organisation with funding from other countries.
But no one would let such a thing happen. Imagine if UN could force America to say close down Guantanamo bay or China to give up the countries it's conquered.

And they can throw their weight around with the weak and poor countries on their border, but not much else.
Which is why the baltic countries scrambled to join NATO.

Middle East society in general detests Western society in general to be fair. I honestly think we all need to GTFO of the middle east and let things sort out for themselves, otherwise we're just going to fester more hate and this world doesn't need more hate unless if your from Tasmania...
And fun fact... I'm that 1 out of 10 Australian that Johnnie hates. I'm a horrible person and steal her bread when she isn't looking...
LolTasmamia.
My bread is made from bunnies. Just ask Crusty, he knows. He constantly tells me that Im a terrible person for eating bunnies.

An independent organaztion funded by the countries of the world attempting to strong-arm "great power" nations? Yeah, that wouldn't go well.

Please, without the US, the UN could incorporate every other country and still play second fiddle to us.
We aren't closing Gitmo. We torture people. We spy on your governments. Just try and stop us. Especially after China and India's demographic bubble pops.
America's Swag.
