So, how is your bracket doing?

ND pulled out the win in the first game to get me off to a good start, but when Iowa St went down:

Of course, in the very next game Baylor goes down, and shock turns to

Texas and SMU also go down as the day goes on.  Before the second (real) day of the tourney even starts, the best way to sum up my bracket would be:

Or maybe

My bracket is doing decent.

I had Wofford beating Arkansas (whoops), Iowa State advancing to the Elite Eight (and, you know, not being sniped out by UAB the first round) and LSU getting past NC State, but other than those three I'm good. Called UCLA, Georgia State and Ohio State, so I avoided a lot of the total destruction on the first day.

Heh... pulled the link to share my bracket and saw I'm doing better than 98% of the people on ESPN. Makes me kinda proud.

NCAA March Madness College Basketball Playoffs. It's kind of a big deal for a lot of places in the States (not sure where you live).

Yeah, I guess I wasn't thinking of the international flavor of this board when I put this up.  I was referring to the massive collegiate basketball championship tournament that just got under way in the US.  Its a single elimination tournament, starts with 64 teams (play-in games be damned), and runs for the next few weekends until a winner is crowned.  It's become so wildly popular that most people around the country, even those with no connection to any teams in the tourney, fill out a "bracket" - basically try predict who will win each game all the way up to the championship.  Every year, like clockwork, major media outlets will put out articles talking about the billions in the lost productivity that will hit our economy as everyone slacks off (or skips work outright) to track/watch the games.

Yeah, let's just say your bracket is doing.......better......than mine.  Had both Baylor and Iowa ST making a run to the Elite 8, had Texas and SMU winning (but both losing in the next round so that doesn't sting as much), and had Steven F Austin as a 5-12 upset.

lol, none of it matters. Kentucky is going to win it all, easily.

I live in Kentucky - my wife is the most hardcore UK fan you're likely to meet (I'm a University of Louisville fan... anyone aware of the rivalry may wonder at how we ever got together). Almost all of my close buddies are UK fans. Tons of people I work with are UK fans. Suffice to say, I've seen a lot of Kentucky play basketball this year.

They can be beaten. Yes, Townes is a beast and yes, Cauley-Stein can dominate in the paint. And yes, the twins are a greater combo-pack since the Olsen twins in a three way.

But they can be beaten. A team that gets hot with the threes and is able to force turnovers can shut down UK. They need to be taken out of their element, where they can use their size and speed to crush teams, and instead be on the defensive, working to keep up. That's when this young team will begin to show and the paint begin to chip off.

That being said, I don't know of a team they will play that has the strong, full court press defense and three point shooting ability. Which I attribute to the committee giving them a rather bunny schedule. But that's a different story.

I've got UK in my bracket, but I won't be shocked if they get beat.  I expect them to get pushed pretty hard from the Elite 8 on.

Woah there, bud.  I can probably check 2 of those boxes (if you ask my wife, at least).

Wisconsin has the best chance and I don't think they'll make the final four.... Also they are too deep. They have 8 Great players and can platoon, they should not win a game by less than 10 points.

I don't like Kentucky at all, I'm a Gator, so really UK can eat a big D, but they're amazing this year. Truly amazing.

Only 30 more minutes of trying to look busy, then the blatant slacking off can begin.

I am so worthless this time of year.

Its very big here in NC. I like to see Duke win for Coach K who got his 1000th win earlier in the season.

Well, Mike... looks like North Carolina got some love with knocking off Number One seed Villanova tonight! That makes it a little clearer for my boys at Louisville to move their way through the East...

Yeah I saw that. I know the folks  in the Raleigh area will be partying nicely tonight.

Things turned around for me starting on Friday.  Bracket is turning out to be decent.....nothing spectacular, just decent.  Some good games over the weekend as well.  My only gripe is how late they start some of these games (which I complain about basically every year).  I am dragging this morning.

Yep - as a Louisville fan, I was almost up until midnight at being the last game to tip off. And, of course, my daughter thought it would be a blast to wake up at 5:30...

Well I was 4 for 4 in the games last night.  Back up to the 94th percentile on ESPN.

Also, really glad I didn't try to get cute and pick someone other than Kentucky to win it all.  They are downright scary.  I almost wish the refs hadn't done everything humanly possible to neuter WVU's press - it wouldn't have changed the outcome, but at the very least the game might have been entertaining for more than 2 minutes.

If they avoid bad mistakes and keep the game close, they have a chance to win.

I just took a look and the game will be televised on TBS. I won't be able to see the game since I don't have cable. Oh well. No big deal. I will see the score later when I watch Duke play tonight.

Are you talking about Louisville or NCState? The Wolfpack rocked us pretty hard when we played them earlier in the regular season. I'm going into this game expecting a loss for the Cardinals.
