Hi everyone

I'm writing a thesis about narrative comprehension in video games and I'm analyzing Mass Effect 3. Anyway, there's a quote I distinctly remember and would like to find for my introduction but I'm having no luck

I believe it was an article around the time the game came out and the ending controversy happened.

It went something like this (not the exact quote) "Mass Effect 3 is/may be the first game where the story/how it ends is more important than the game"/"the game is anticipated more for the story/ending than the game itself"

if this makes sense. Anyone possibly remember something about that? Or suggest better ways for finding quotes about ME? Thanks

Here are a bunch along with some obviously wrong memes and usual hating: Link

Sorry, if that's not what you were looking for :)

It didn't appear in the context of complaining or had any snark to it. The point was that the Mass Effect series was special in the sense that it had made fans care about the story to an extent that was not common in most other games.

I totally realize how ridiculous this thread is but I just thought I'd give it a shot and ask.

I know it'd be a major time sink, but nearly every games podcast I knew had a discussion about it.

If you're looking for solid journalism-y quotes, just look at major gaming new sites. Most should have a "search by time" function, so you can restrict your searches to around ME3's and the EC's release.  So anything like IGN, Gameinformer, Eruogamer, Forbes, etc. might yield so good results.

If you need critiques, then searching here for some ending threads would be a good plan. You're not likely to find too much smart sounding quotes, but I'd imagine people had good personal testimonials and would occasionally link to a more crafted article. If you're looking for a great video critique, I'd check out Tasteful, Understated Nerdrage.

I'm sorry I can't be any more specific about the quote you wanted, but it does sound familiar.

I didn't mean anything like that, the link I provided had a few positive quotes as well. I did see comments resembling what you seek but I can't really pinpoint their location. Such emotional replies are usually posted in threads like this but it'll take some time to go through all those pages. Sorry for not being more helpful.

P.S. I did find this one

I want to say it might have been PC Gamer or IGN right before the release but I might be entirely wrong. I guess I'll just go through those two frist and see what i can find.
