I have been thinking lately and thought I would share some of the things I would like the next Mass Effect to have. Before I start let me say, I play games. I play different types and I play alot. Video games are my hobby and like any hobby, I do it when I can. So with that being said lets start.

1. No more RNG (random number generator). I am going to use three games for this example, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, Destiny, Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse. Lets start with ME3 MP. According to N7 HQ, I played ME3 for 81 hours 43 minutes and 45 seconds, I played 248 games, I ranked in the N7 Leaderboards #114,543 (Top 7%). The one character I wanted to unlock was the Asari Justicar. I never got that character. I played Destiny for about 25-30 hours, reached level 29, never got the weapons or armour that I wanted. And lately I have been playing DBZ Xenoverse. I have put in 40 hours and still do not have skill that I would like to have/use. RNG is there for a false way to make someone replay your game/missions. It makes the player replay the same thing over and over again, with the chance of never getting the item/skill the player wants. This is something I definitely hope is not in the next Mass Effect.

2. No set armour rating. So many times, so, so, many times this has happened. "Awesome this piece of ______ looks so cool, but wait it doesn't help me. Nope cannot use it, but, man do I look cool in it." In the next ME please make armour cosmetic and allow the player to add amps to boost the stats of said item.

3. No specialization for ammo types. I should have to be a special class to unlock fire ammo. Every class should have the ability to press a couple of buttons and add that perk to their gun. Or just restrict what you can take into battle and have ammo types be one of the restrictions.

4. Bring back encryption and decryption. ME1 Tali was in my party to make sure I could unlock anything needed. Have levels with blocks door/caves or whatever. Make the players party have to have those skills to unlock or maybe add a mini game if they do not have those skills.

5. Change characters look after creation. So, so, so many times I have restarted a game because my player just didn't look right. Please make this available. Even if you have to go to a Dr. and pay for it, make it available.

Thats it for me for right now. What did you guys think and what are somethings you would like to see or not see in the next Mass Effect.

P.s. I did not proofread so please forgive any mistakes.

Hm I agree competly with 4 and 5 I agree slightly with 3 but want no part in the others but as long as it's got playable races I'll get it if not I want no part.

Strongly agree with number 4. Would love a real reason to select companions on missions due to their skill sets. It would be nice to also have some clue as to what kind of skills will be required for a mission (eg: you need an archaeologist to help decipher some ancient scripts in an alien tomb, or you need a tech expert to help hack a series of computer protocols, or a thief to help hack through security doors and systems, etc. I also want to add that the player should have the option of choosing fewer companions (sometimes I really want to go on a mission alone - the others just get in the way). A few unique missions could maybe have more companions broken up into groups (like the final mission on ME2 - that was brilliant assigning tasks to a second team or a specialist).

I'm not a fan of #4 because it potentially locks you into using certain squadmates or a certain class more frequently than others. I like to rotate the squad in and out and use them all more or less evenly, and that would be difficult to do if the game is forcing me to always bring a tech specialist.

I would love them to bring back the minigame for opening crates from the first game, as well as encryption and decryption. The minigames in Mass Effect 2 were so tedious, by the end I just wouldn't bother opening the wall safes and stuff. I wouldn't mind them bringing back the Charm and Intimidation stats from the first game either.

And as Vortigernrex said, it would be great to have some missions where you can take all the companions and split them off into different groups. I really liked the mission in Citadel DLC where the whole squad came together, as well as the Suicide Mission from ME2. It adds a new way to play missions, with different combinations and they could make it so the consequences of picking the wrong guy to do a job wouldn't be as bad, like perma death, but it could make the mission harder if the person you choose isn't that good.. Say you get someone with low "tech" skills (just an example) to hack a door to keep enemies out, you get less time to do your objective before the door opens and loads of enemies come to get you

I agree with 1, 3, and 5. I'd rather weapons cost a lot of money and I have to work a long time to get them (say 10 completed gold runs in mp) than just relying on luck. I know they did it to have us buy packs but to have the sole progression be through that? Btw screw promoting, I played 292 hours of mp and I only promoted for a couple of weekend challenges. Never saw the point of leveling up again, and again, and again...unless you wanted to respec.

I like the idea of every ammo type being available to every class but limited on the mission, kind of like what you did on mp. Maybe have the option to select two. Ammo type being part of the loadout makes more sense.

And 5, I don't care how many times Bioware that they got the perfect, neutral lighting for the CC (which in DAI is questionable at best, both times you do it if you decide to customize Hawke. Blackness and a torch on the side, seriously?) It never turned out well for me in ME, I ended up running with the presets. Luckily I really like femshep's, specially in ME3.

About 2 I see your point, it's one of the things I love about swtor but in ME I feel like given the sort of stats the armor gives us like more protection, shields, faster cooldowns...I like that the armor looks the part of what it gives you. Armor that gives you more shields seems to have shield emitters around it...so I prefer that stats are still linked to armor pieces.

And about 4 I have to strongly disagree. One of the things I love about ME2 and 3 is that I can choose whichever companions I want for a mission and it won't stop me from opening that lock. What I love is that bringing different companions changes the banter I'm going to get and even conversations. If they have to have an effect gameplay wise I'd rather it be done like the suicide mission. You might get a different path avoiding combat if you bring a certain companion, you might get a different outcome because a companion intervened in a conversation...just don't force us to bring a companion to get all the loot. I've gotten quite tired of having to bring the master key called rogue with me at all times.

I partly agree on 2. I would like to customize my armor more as well as have more casual clothes.

I'm not sure about 4 because OP I don't know what kind of decryption you are talkin about. I play on PS3 and if you are talkin about bringing back the decryption mini-game which was in ME1 then I disagree strongly because I didn't like that at all but creating some other kind of decryption mini-game then I'm fine with that and would be looking forward to it.

What comes to having certain kind of character in your party at all time to open some doors don't sound very good and I'm not interested in it even if there are several characters to choose from. I like to choose freely. I think the whole point of having a certain character in your party and offering people to ignore that with a mini game takes away the whole point.

I liked figuring out what characters I should choose to complete the different tasks in suicide mission but after I had done that I felt that there wasn't anything more to accomplish.

It would be interesting if there could be different ways to complete a mission depending on characters you have brought with you. However I believe this could be quite difficult to do.

I agree on 5.

NO MORE MAGIC PISTOL!!!!!

...

(to clarify for those at home) Bioware has this unfortunate habit of equipping a magically appearing/disappearing pistol/rifle on your character and companions in every second dialogue, QTE and cutscene! They do it in all their games! I bet if you look close enough, their is probably one in Dragon Age!

Regardless of class or skills, this pistol is rendered into so many scenes, it's incredibly immersion breaking, yet we know FOR A FACT that the scene is rendered in real time, because armour customizations appear. S please BW do NOT do this in MENext.

Oh, and I mostly agree with the OP's 5 points, all except number 4. I think what would be better is certain missions work "better" with certain companions (someone likeTali for missions vs Geth or EDI for missions vs Cerberus for example) I think all missions should be completable, though more difficult,  with no hidden area's or assignments, regardless of the companions you choose.

Basically for suggestion 4 to be optimal every level would need say... 3 ways to complete it.

1. Without tech and just using tactics to battle through

2. With tech is a more sneak/avoid big battles way

3. With Brawn using a powerhouse tank type that can break down breakable walls to ambush enemy squads to help make the battles easier.

Is no RNG for MP only, or should that apply in SP too?

I don't have a problem with separating armor appearance and stats, though my only personal interest in the topic is to not see as many threads whining about this stuff on the DA boards. But could we present it as the armor having the stats and the appearance being the mod?

My bet in that ammo=power only came in because soldiers didn't have enough actual powers after ME2 went to straight-up shooter mechanics. So this depends to some extent on class design. Not a problem with the proposal since that wasn't good class design in the first place.

I say its ok to go forth into the future ok not to see Tali or any others, no one lives forever. But!!!! your decisions as Shepard should matter, because we killed Reapers! Didn't they try to make everyone extinct? and we survived. And its the future, all your effort has no influence means basically its MASS EFFECT 1 (reboot) to me.

O_o

I had to read this twice to make sure I read it right. IMO the minigames in ME2 were a million times better than those in ME1.

In 1 it was just a finger-twitch button-mash fest where you would often have to reload because you were one hundredth of a second too slow. Incredibly frustrating.

Yes, 2's games got repetitive after a while (they should have scaled in difficulty) but at least they actually required some thought. I was far more inclined to skip the crates in 1 than 2, particularly once I had colossus armor and 9999999 credits.

Multiplayer? What's multiplayer? The one time (recently) I decided to try it after YEARS of playing SP I got kicked before I could look the thing over and get in. Thanks folks. Nice of ya. Says a lot.

I'm not a fan of hacking/decryption that is restricted to class or stats. In ME1, I took Wrex and Garrus to the merc hideout where the family armor was located, and I was really annoyed to have to leave, go back to the Normandy and return with Tali just to open that stupid safe.
