Is it just me or do they seem like they keep patching the game for people who cant support it in the first place?Ok to start I have a buddy on steam who I told cannot play the game as it is, he had to use a tweak guide to get it working on his crap rig. For me I had no issues from the get go on the day of release until patch 2 I think it was scars and freckles on my char and npc's were gone (Playing on high settings not custom).Luckily for me the hot-fix was a temp fix and everything was good again.I stopped playing after I beat the game at that point because I didn't want to get burned out on the story so I can enjoy it again later.I just installed recently and again seems like patch 3-5 somewhere in there here we are again with the same problems no scars, no freckles, no wrinkles..meanwhile my buddy remarks on every time they patch it saying they broke the game again for him. The question is do people think that bioware is patching this game for people who probably shouldn't play it in the first place because they cant support it? I'm at a loss and have no idea what to do to fix it at this point but I at least wonder if people are thinking the same way.

I play DAI on Xbox 360 and have some minor issues.  But I don't think you can honestly fault Bioware because DAI won't work on what you describe as your buddy's "crap rig".  I am guessing whatever solution or mods he is using is not supported.  Granted, there is no excuse for DAI not working properly on a PC that meets (or even exceeds) the system requirements.  From the sound of it, your buddy's PC does neither.  So, he should probably consider upgrading his PC if he wants to be able to play DAI.

You're right going as far as to say its bioware's fault is too much, but I still feel like the updates are geared to the people that prob should upgrade or don't meet the system requirements to begin with. That's the thing with PC gaming vs gaming on consoles, Just because you have one doesn't necessarily mean you can play it. I can recall the same thing happening when witcher 2 came out and loads of people that couldn't meet the requirements flooded CDPR forums for answers. My point is that I felt like CDPR didn't dumb down the game for everyone that could play it vs the ones that could. I feel like inquisition has been a series of fixed it, broke it ,fixed it patch's.

I think the changes BioWare is making the graphical fidelity of the game isn't for the people that can't run the game, but for the people at the lower end and make the game run better for them.  As far as the freckles and scars missing, my suggestion is to always try modifying the graphic settings for they have been separating some of the grouped functions so it will work better.  For scars and freckles are a layer they add upon the faces of characters so if that graphical option gets changed in a patch its highly likely it got turned off somewhere.

As far as the "game breaking after any patch" for your friend. I don't really have enough information for his issues, but if he is running any type of mod that comes with the territory.  If there are other issues he would be one of the only people I know of that have that kind of issue, for if something like that was even rare I would have expected a lot more negativity towards BioWare because their patches are "broken".

Well that was kinda my point, my friend cant support the game and shouldn't have bought it. Do you know what the facial blemish's are grouped as because I have the game on high and I still don't see any? Also the longer I play the more that I've seen that has changed, blood stays on my character until I change the map or fast travel. I've also run into a few oddly colored npc's that look like they are a little overkill on the makeup. Its not game breaking stuff but stuff that kinda ruins the immersion for me.

As it happens there have been two threads on the Witcher forum of a couple of hundred pages each, raging about how the grass has been dumbed down to accommodate console players... !

What! You mean I can't have a deep, philosophical argument with the grass in Witcher 3? God damn pre-order cancelled!

I assume by dumbed down they mean there isn't enough grass in the game.  I wouldn't be surprised if those same people complaining about grass being dumbed down also started a thread demanding being able to rid the world of grass...Which means devs will include unlockable and upgradeable riding lawn mower...

There is plenty of grass and that's the issue.

It's graphical fidelity has apparently been downgraded !!

It's Crestwood all over again.

/anyway not a proper subject for this forum really, I just mentioned it because it came up...

A few things I've noticed that's changed so far in a new game. The temple of sacred ashes the light that would normally pulsate or flash is just a solid green light now.

The lady that you talk to during the convo bull has with the random soldiers showing you how they act is now super old (elderly and doesn't belong in war).Ambient audio will randomly cut on and off in the middle of cut scenes while it waits for me to choose dialog now. the companion audio happens more often now but if you frequently use the same people you will get repeating lines. Cut scenes will start like 1 or 2 sec before the black loading screen even disappears. This is knit picking I know but its all stuff that worked fine at release now I'm having random problem's? I still think they are breaking more than they are fixing with the patching system.

I don't even understand the question well enough to agree or disagree.

(I may have mesh and shader reversed through this whole post. If it doesn't make sense, read it the other way.)

At release, shader quality was set to ultra for everyone, with no means to change it. This caused massive performance issues on low-end machines. Patch 2 fixed that by linking shader quality to mesh quality. That made scars and freckles disappear for anyone who had had mesh quality set to anything below ultra.

But that was a temporary fIx. Patch 4 or 5 unlinked the two, allowing you to set them separately. What the game set your new setting to is inconsistent. Go into your graphics options and fiddle with your mesh and shader settings until you get your scars and freckles back.

It helps to learn what the patches actually do so they don't confuse you.

I like how people, yet again, put all their faith into an unreleased product, based on dev statements and the same crappy review sites they have been bagging on since DA:I has been released.

Well I'm at the highest my card can go now without performance loss, on high settings. I've tried Ultra on mesh and textures but it seems to be the same thing. Like I said at this point I have no idea how to fix it and as I get farther in the game the more stuff that worked before doesn't work now, like walls randomly disappearing in skyhold when I'm outside.Granted it does seem like they fixed a few things from when I've played and added some new things like armor tinting, or how npc's would randomly vanish.

Interesting - I play on PS4 and have had no problems. I couldn't figure out what the complaints were regarding the banter - cause it seemed like my companions never shut up!

I have noticed that since one of the patches, they don't talk as much - but part of that could be the mix of players I use now .

Yeah, PS4 is kind of off topic from the point I was trying to make about PC patches being geared for lower end computers but I get what you are saying. They did fix quite a bit with the patches but it seems like its caused more problems for me as well. If there was a way I could use the keep without needing the latest update I think that would make me happy as I avoid the mp anyway but I doubt its in the cards.

Edit* apparently Sera can't wear elf only rogue armor.. guess she isn't elf enough.

ok so patch 6 just got released hopefully some of this will be straightened out.
