When you buy a chest and it says your inventory is full, do you lose the items from the chest?

You can't buy a chest if your inventory is full.

I got this note in the process of buying a chest, not just once. Bought one, klicked "back", got note "your inventory is full". I was wondering if these items in the chest appear in my inventory or are just delted, because I also got a "salvage feed", 2 iron, 1 cotton etc. (bottom left conrner) when back to the main screen. But I didn't salvage anything.

Looks like the system is salvaging items automatically when your reach your inventory limit.

Now I know where all my Calibans are..
