I'm fighting last battle in Chapter 1. My henchmens are Sharwyn, Deekin, Natthyra (sp.?) and I'm bard/rogue (mostly bard, though). I strip some of Sharwyn equipment, because I'm afraid I will lost some of it, but not all. I didn't remove anything from Deekin. I sold some of stuff, but kept Armor of speed, Gragoyle boots (I need to use it, maybe it will help), bastard sword I can use, gems, harps, etc...

My tactic was to ignore all the drows and just bash the stones and use bard song. Proved to be unsuccessful, Sharwyn is first to die, Natthyra stands in the back, Deeking is alive and well, no harm done (I don't know what he does), but I got poisons and ability damage quite fast. And die.

I guess I know what must I do, but do you have something to add?

Help... Do you have some idea how to survive and free Halaster so I can continue playing the game?

You don't need to unequip Sharwyn before the battle. Just make sure you do it before talking to Halaster after the battle. I hope that makes enough difference that you survive.

If you email me your save file at com dot gmail at balkothwarcraft (reversing the order of those words) I'd be willing to take a look at it.  Part of it is that it's hard to say much without knowing the state of your character and game.

Three bards and a bugged out Nathyrra? I don't blame you for having difficulty with some fights. :)

You might like to pick up Valen for the rest of the game, it helps to have someone up front taking the heat.

I wanted to role-play with party of bards. I will definitely take Valen, since he is so much loved here and what to know why.

That was quite entertaining. You'd be a good letsplayer, MM. :D

Two bugged out bards and a Nathyrra who summons useless creatures to steal your XP? I don't blame you for having difficulty with some fights. :)

Fixed that for you.

Playing a melee strength based bard (which is what Naeryna seems to be sort of going for) is actually extremely powerful as a frontline character.

Why thank you.  I've actually done a few Let's Play type videos for NWN (brief ones, not a whole campaign) and Civilization V (whole games) in the past.

I understand;  I recently ran with a party of archers. ;)

Hehe. That was fun to watch and listen to, MM. With a much higher buffed DEX than STR, I had gotten the impression the main PC was supposed to be a dexing toon. It wasn't until later on when you scrolled through the feats (and saw no weapon finesse) that I figured out why you didn't have her equip Deekin's dagger. :-)

Good example battle there, BTW. I got the impression the PC could have won it with one or two fewer associates.

I planned to use longbow, but then I end up with shortbow and I didn't like that much.

I like Nathyrra as a character, but she can be an extremely frustrating companion (as most spellcaster companions in NWN are without AI mods). Valen's easy to manage and he has some great banter with Deekin, so you should have fun with them.

Keep your eyes peeled for a decent longbow. It's been a while since I played, but there are a lot of high-powered magic weapons in the Underdark; I'm sure a longbow is one of them. Bard archers can be lots of fun, so don't give up!

Go for the drow immediately in front of Halaster first.  Then then kill the archers on the ramps.  After all the drow are dead, then free Halaster.

I freed Halaster on 26th of March... I forgot to tell you that.

I was pretty sure that you had long since gotten past that point, but since we were on topic, I put in my two cents worth.
