I use "least favorite" because i dont really "hate" any of them.
Merrill in Dragon Age 2. I dont dislike her. I just hate how shes basically a completly different person than in dragon age origins. In Origins she was basically a serious, stern keeper apprentice. In Dragon Age 2 shes an quirky, ludicrously naive pixie girl. The whole transformation just seems really weird. Im not really foind of how they changed the dalish clans american accents to dalish accents either.
Sebastian. I dont hate him. She has a fairly intresting personal quest and i like how he basically invades kirkwall if you spare Anders.
My main gripe is just that he doesnt fit into the group dynamic of the characters in dragon age 2. Every other playabnle companion has some sort of "Relationship dynamic" with the other playable characters. Sebastian (as a DLC character) is just like a bland outsider who doesnt fit in. It just seems like a wasted opportunity considering that his story had potential.
Wynne. Out of all the companion characters in Origins Wynne is the most dull. I think the main reason for this is that there no real "inner conflict" in her character arc. Shes basically just a selfrighteous mentor to the warden who constantly tells him/her whats the right thing to do. Oh and she gives some "Inspiring" comments about how she doesnt fear her imminent death. Her loyalty mission is also dull. She basically just find her old elven student (which she was an ass to long ago) only to realise that he has already forgiven her. It would have been alot more effective if he hated her and wouldnt forgive her. That would give her some intresting character development, and could have made her question her own character and morals. I still think she works ok as a character. Shes just kinda dull compared to the other characters.
Sera. My main gripe with Sera is that she dont really have a fleshed out character arc. The only real backstory she has is her story about her adoptive mother and her cookies. This doesnt have to be a bad thing. I sort like "Average Joes" who basically have no "Tragic backstory/dilemma" that the main character need to help them with. I liked Oghren in Origins because of this. He was basically just an alcholist warrior dwarf that was heartbroken because his wife had abandoned him. My main gripe with Sera is that shes basically reduced to being a "Comic relief". Shes basically a spoiled brat who makes "Funny" comments whenever she speaks. Oghren is compareison had "Funny" moments when he was drunk, but i never felt that he was reduced into ONLY being a "Comic relief character" (Well...... until awakenings was released). I still dont hate Sera. Shes just feels like a DLC character who dont have any real effect on the overall game experience.
