Dragon Age Origins: Wynne she wouldn't shut up or mind her own business.  Great healer though so you had to take her places.

DA:2  Merrill she is one of the few characters I loathed from a moral perspective.  It was all about her having her way, her obsession, and **** everyone else.  Her actions led to how many people in her clan being killed or hurt?  No matter what anyone said she would still truck with demons.

Anders.  I loved him in Awakenings, I even liked him in Act I.  Even though I was a mage and agreed with him on how they were treated it was like, Dude, STFU already.  We heard you the first five thousand times.  Then Act III when he lies to get you to help him with his bullshit.  GRRRR

I agree on Merrill. I friended every one of my companions in that game, but with Merrill, I really wish I had rivalled her instead. Everything about her seemed so self destructive, and if you weren't an enabler, she'd act like she'd just go around you to get what she wanted and probably make things even worse. Your choice was basically, "Help Merrill do what she asks and hope Hawke can control it through being involved," or "Just let her go nuts as long as Hawke doesn't have to be there."

For some reason, I actually liked Anders. I mean, I was annoyed by what he did, as well as you were, but I understood why he did it and was somehow sympathetic to him, despite the fact he was kind of douchey to everybody throughout the game and clearly in the wrong with his solution. Ultimately, nobody in my group had totally clean hands, anyway.

I don't think Anders had the foresight to really understand what it would all lead to, obviously.

Actually, Flemeth does refer to the Dalish as The People, but Solas says several times that they are not his people.
I love both Solas and Abelas characters, but at the temple I felt a bit under the gaze of disdain from Team You-Are-Not-My-People.

Not the same thing.

It was never a matter of superiority, Solas merely feels like a stranger in their midst.

Someone who shares Abelas' mindset would never say something like "I must pay the price, but the People... they need me."

I'm surprised more people didn't mention Carver. It's kind of unusual in any BioWare game to have a character who holds a pre-existing relationship with your protagonist, let alone such an antagonistic relationship. As far as I'm aware, isn't it even impossible to become friends with him in the game? Dude is just a thorn in Hawke's side from the first minute and almost never lets up, no matter how diplomatic you attempt to be with him (my Hawke was a wiseass, but still valued family and tried to keep the peace). And the thing is, it's never even totally clear why he's so annoyed all the time--it seems to go well beyond merely having to live in the shadow of his older sister (sorry--Hawke is a female to me and always will be--just like Shepard!).

I didn't hate him, but he certainly doesn't go out of his way to ingratiate himself to the player. Ever.

In my playthrough he was too busy being eaten by an Ogre

Anders. He was designed to be hated. He complains soooooo much.

Sebastian. Complains a ton. His story background is like... who cares.

Zevran. I know I know, you're free to disagree. (I can't remember if I like him or not.)

Loghain. He's a raving lunatic.

Howe. Also crazy, and weird looking.

There's probably others, but hey.

Edit: ISOLDE BIIIGG TIME. Her annoyingly THICK accent and her total b**** attitude just slays me. I honestly don't know why I haven't sacrificed her more.

IMO it's understandable that neither one of them views modern elves, Dalish or City, as "his people". If a modern human suddenly woke up among filth-ridden, illiterate and rabidly superstitious vagrant beggars from the Dark Ages, I don't know how many of us would be willing to view them as "our people" either. Especially once they decide to burn us at the stake for clearly being in league with the devil. We wouldn't even be able to exchange two words with each other because the languages have changed so much. (I suppose Abelas and the others ever so conveniently had the human language zapped into their heads via Flemeth and the Well at some point during a previous awakening, or we'd have the same problem with them.) And unlike that modern human in the Dark Ages, who could at least look at the tremendous advances made since then and take some comfort in how far we've come since that horror, the ancient elves have their shock and revulsion amplified by realizing what their almighty civilization has been reduced to.

Plus people's frequent tendency to use any perceived difference as "proof" of the other person's inferiority -- even utterly meaningless crap like which race or class one prefers in a computer game.

So, it's not a "nice" reaction, but a very predictably realistic one.

Are we talking Companion? Or NPC?

The ones that come to mind:

DAO NPC -Anora  ..I hate that bish. I liked all the companions except for Shale. Just no.

DA2 Merril

DAI Sera, Cole, Blackwall ... and Leliana sadly.

Blackwall seriously creeps me out, every time I try romancing him I'm like ehhhh I can't and I always go back to Cullen <3 +++

Sera is annoying - can't stand her. I never take her with me.

Leliana - loved her in DAO she was kind and sweet now she's kinda bitter. When she's campaigning to become divine .. ughhhh.

Yeah my first playthrough I kicked Sera out of the Inquisition after she killed Lord Harmon. The second time, I managed to solve the problem without bloodshed and was able to fully explore her character. Since then I only kept her out of the Inquisition with a Qunari PC, as the way I pictured him it didn't seem like he would want an un-serious companion. Give her credit though, it seems that she's one of the few of your companions who seems like she's committed to your party for the future post-game.

She's cute in her own way, but ultimately even after hearing things she says like 4 or 5 times, I have no idea what she's saying. She kind of speaks gibberish. I suppose if I were to talk to somebody from whatever part of Britain her accent is from, I'd have an equally hard time understanding everything they're saying, different contractions, phrases and words and all that stuff. Really, the most disappointing thing for me with her is that she's female romance only, since IMO she's the most attractive of the women in the game, if it's possible to think video game characters can be attractive...

I suppose there is some sweet irony to this. The Dalish also look down on the city elves.

I like most of the companions in the various DA games, and love others, but these are the ones I cannot stand.

Fenris. A whiny emo creep who does not fit with the setting at all. I understand his backstory, so I don't hate him as much as the others, though.

Anders. I actually don't mind him for the most part because I mostly agree with him, but his actions at the end of DAII were completely insane.

Dorian. He's an arrogant jerk who constantly brags about how much better he his than everyone else. His story was also excessively preachy. I agree with the moral, but I hate being preached at in entertainment.

Vivienne. An arrogant b*** who only cares about gaining power for herself. After my first playthrough, I completely ignore her invite. What better way to deal with someone who's greatest fear is irrelevance than to completely ignore them?

I hate Sebastian, as Varric said he is "BORRRRRRIIIINNNNGGG!!!!"  Varric even complains about him in DA:I. XD What's with all the Merrill hate? She is a well intentioned, innocent person who is being manipulated by a very powerful demon, you as her friend or lover can talk her down, and tell her to give up the mirror. You can also talk down her clan; whatever happens to the people in Merrill's life is contingent with the actions of the player. If you don't rivalmance Merrill she finishes the mirror, if you don't say the right thing to her clan you wind up killing them. Marethari made worst mistakes than Merrill.

I don't like Vivienne as well, she is far too bourgoasie, and she unsurprisingly turns into a totalitarian. However, I love her voice actress.

Most of Dragon Age 2s cast minus a few. Despite actually enjoying the game that whole cast had a lot of whiney people in it.

Though if I had to pick only one. Anders, simply because he was awesome in awakening and then he became that abomination in 2

Sera. Sera, Sera, Sera! I cannot say it enough. I utterly loathe, and despise her. Also, Anders in DA II not only bored me, but his whole merging with Justice thing never made a lick of sense to me. But I don't really dislike the character per say. I do feel, however, that DA II kind of ruined him. I also detest Arl Rendon Howe, and Loghain, for obvious reasons. Even my deep, abiding love of Tim Curry is not enough to make me not want to stab Rendon Howe in the face. Repeatedly. I also disliked Solas. He's ugly and boring. I'm ugly and boring. I don't want to team up with a character that reminds me of myself. Games are supposed to be fun after all. And let's not forget about Carver, the whiny little brat, who needs no introduction. Even the end of DA II if he becomes a Templar was not enough to redeem him IMHO. Velanna is another character I hate. I'm sure that I've forgotten some other ones. I'll probably just bookmark this thread.

loooooool I'm sorry but this was very funny.

Merril isn't an abomination like Anders, now is she? The deal with the demon was fully consensual.

Regarding the mirror, if the best defense that can be made is that you have to talk her out of it then I'd say that yes, she is responsible.

And no, Merril is not innocent. She can be surprisingly sarcastic when she wants to.

The Iron Bull , he has its moment but most of the time I feel like slapping him.

The whole badass bro is just way too much , it's just annoying.

Besides I'm just not buying into his character , he's a super spy who was the best thing on Seheron.

He's a super lover , he's super open minded blablabla ...

After Krem was done telling the story about how he lost his eye , I was half expecting a story where he saved orphans and kittens from a horde of demons in an orphanage on fire.

His character feels like a parody who tried to take itself seriously.

I don't think you know what manipulation means. An abomination is not being manipulated, psychological manipulation is when someone is influenced, their perception or behavior is changed, via surreptitious, deceptive, or abusive methods. An abomination in DA is someone who is no longer there to be influenced, the Demon does not just have possession over that person's body it turns that person into something entirely different. As for Anders, his situation seemed to be different than Uldred or Sophia Dryden, probably because he was not possessed by a demon but by a spirit. The pride demon in DAII is manipulating Merrill, it plays on her pride, her irrationality, it blinds her to the fact that the demon is using her to escape its prison and that it will try and posses her afterwards. That's what demon's do. That is manipulation. The player's role, if they want--or they can be idiots about it--is that they as a friend or lover can make Merrill realize that she is being manipulated, sometimes friends help each other in such situations, or they can be jerks about it and add to the abuse.

Merrill has sarcasm therefore she is not an innocent person? You can't be serious...

Mother Dorothea says it best during the Leliana's song DLC.

Leliana initially blames the whole situation on her because she gave Marjolaine the documents.

Then the revered mother reminds the former that she is also at fault since "When someone uses your weakness against you, that still is your weakness."

And again, Hawke isn't in charge of Merril's life. She is accountable for her own decisions.

Precisely. People with the purity you ascribe to Merril wouldn't have the required malice to be sarcastic towards someone. And least of all, unprovoked like she does with Aveline.

Dragon Age Origins:

Alistar, Leliana and Wynne. They were pain in my butt. Good thing I could replace first one with Loghain.

Dragon Age 2:

Anders and Isabela. Both too narcistic and they caused most of Kirkwall's citiziens deaths. First one blew up chantry and caused templars to kill mages, second one stole book just to make herself safe and let people die killed by qunari. Not cool, guys, not cool.

Dragon Age Inquisition:

Cole and Iron Bull. I even romance second one on my canon playthrough but still, I really dislike them. Good thing is that I like Leliana in this game. :)

Alistair is my most hated character, and I think it's justified, if you see it in the way he is irresponsible, incompetent, stupid, too complaining and ultimately an ungrateful traitor.

Bull can be hated from a Qunari perspective I guess, devs said something like that he is the opposite to Sten. Also for being a promiscuous character like Isabella and Zev.
