Vivienne. It's quite interesting, actually, because while she's well-written, she brings absolutely nothing positive to the story in any possible way. She is a great deal like Ortolan bunting; a lot of thought and craftsmanship put into making the world an objectively worse place.
DAO
Lelianna-kill
Zevran-kill
Wynne-not respect or care a bit about her.
DA2
Sebastian-want to kill
Tallis-want to kill
Fenris-always give him to Danarius
Anders-was much better in DAA, a pity that he is not give us the option to burn the Orlais Chantry with templars ourselfs
DAI-almost everyone, the game surprise me with this fact that i hate a lot of Inquisition members-companions and some available allies, hate them much more than almost most of my enemies, except Orlesians=) i would rather have some agents as my companions and LI.
Lelianna-want to kill her again
Cullen-want to kill him since DAO and especially in DA2 and DAI, i hope he will die because of lyrium
Cole-the worst thing ever and devs even not just not give us option to kill him, they erase everyone memory.
Sera-second the worst thing ever, and i not have option to kill that peasant sh*t, send her far away
Vivienne-worst then Wynne, not have option to kill and never care or respect, will see what a mage Divine she will become
Dorian-not have option to kill and never care or respect him, send him far away
Cassandra-not have option to inprison her, and never care or respect her, but need to be "friend" with her so i can find a seekers book and she will not restore Seekers
Josephine-annoying antivan "princess", not care and not respect, rather have Varrick or anyone else on her position, but not like her.
Michel de Shevin-kill him
DA2 I did not like Anders. I loved the original DA:A Anders.
DA:I my most loathed companion is unfortunately Iron Bull. I quite like everyone else! I have tried playthrough after playthrough to like him but I have miserably failed. I find nothing interesting or likeable in him. On my most recent playthrough I have not even recruited him- if I will, I will not do his personal quest or even talk to him- I am just quite done with him at this point. Saving the Chargers vs. sacrificing them has not made any difference in my liking him. We just do not click.
Velanna ![]()
DAO: Alistair and Oghren
DA:A Velanna and Oghren
DA2: Anders
DAI: Blackwall
So... basically everyone.
Mostly all who are
Who are non-mages humans-Orlais Chantry believers from Orlais, Antiva, Starheaven(i cant even hear many Orlais and Antivans without a desire to slit their throats so they will at least shut up), who are Orlais Chivaliers, Templars, Seekers, Antivan Crows
And those who are Qunari members and spies, those who cant turn into Tal-Vashots and fight with Qun
With everyone else is not, in 99% i like them or neutral, if not support, or want support them but not have that choice in game
That's your opinion, man. My opinion is that if something does not actually come in the form of say a quest and involves more than just that one character, then it is just extra goodies. And, yes, Sera has that like every other companion. However to me that is not what makes a companion. Maybe it's just because I started playing Bioware games with ME2, but personal quests I think are key to expanding a character and they truly dropped the ball in Sera's personal quest. All you have with Sera, really, is side story and that's no story at all. Personally I don't think I am underselling her at all, rather you try to raise her to heights that she cannot possibly reach.
Among several similar comments...
Earlier in the thread I listed Sera in my "least favorite"- though she was 4th, not 1st in the line of 1. Dog, 2. Velanna, 3. Tallis, 4. Sera. She seems an irreconcilable mashup of a flighty suburban teenager and a hardened working class assassin, and the poor admixture is off-putting. She reminds me a lot of ultra-leftists I've known- bigots for the underdog who don't think too deeply about their politics and usually aren't particularly underdogs themselves but are willing to do extremist violence or damage "for the cause." Except that Sera has a very unusual political bent for any character I've ever encountered: hating nobles and officialdom, exalting the dispossessed (except elves, of course, because why would she, being elf and all). (Thedas politics are the most maturely and sophisticatedly represented in any game I've ever seen, whatever could be said of that.)
But I have to take her off the "least favorite" list now, even though I didn't like her "pranks" quest either (and how one failure to do a prank as she bids gets you disapproval *eyeroll*).
The notion that she has nothing to do with the DAverse is definitely wrong: she's from Red Jenny! I've been curious about that organization since first "meeting" them in DAO's Denerim and then again in Kirkwall. They always seemed a little metagamed- as if the game writers were upset by events in the game they'd written and wanted to intercede, so they sent an emissary to help the player to even the score a bit. I head-canoned that DAO's Red Jenny was run by an unknown wealthy philanthropist concerned about how events in Ferelden were leading but not taking sides publicly and wanted to help the Warden do more to succeed... but that was already happening with the Master Ignacio missions and just individual encounters, so... Then in Kirkwall their involvement was primarily just to encourage vigilantism against street thugs. So it was still unclear what they were. Side story? Possibly, but still an inextricable part of DA lore.
Enter Sera. She doesn't exactly spell it all out regarding Red Jenny, but that's part of the charm- and now Red Jenny has more of a face and character- except that it's a bit ad hoc (anarchist?), so there is no defining personality to it. She's an operative. Like Iron Bull (qunari connection) and Cassandra (Seeker connection) she's a bit of a liaison character. And she gets you numerous Red Jenny quests around southern Thedas, one of which gives you Bees- arguably one of the better attack items in DAI fully upgraded. I love that they put such a character among the available companions to get to know.
Her personality... meh... But I do like her "stick-it-to-the-man" attitude. And I find I enjoy her company when out traveling with her. Bringing Blackwall and Sera is the opposite of bringing Solas and Cole: the commentary has more humor, off-the-cuff reactions, and "earthiness" than the latters' awe, psychadelics, and exposition of lore. It's not a qualitative difference necessarily. I've been going Solas and Cole this game mostly because they're fascinating together, but I miss hearing Sera's colorfully uneducated remarks on things to lighten the mood at times. It's a matter of morale-boosting, one of the things essential to keeping the ranks in good spirits... even if her pranks and flightiness... no, not so much...
Origins ~ Leliana was somewhat boring. Morrigan really improved in inquisition but in origins I didn't like her so much.
Awakening ~ Velanna was very obnoxious. My warden couldn't agree on anything.
Inquisition ~ Vivienne, because of the way she treated Cole. I wasn't fond of Sera either but she turned out to be quite funny sometimes so she is okay
Blackwall was kind of dull.
DA:O: Velanna was just too 1 dimensional. We get it, you are angry and you want your sister. But her character is just like a cartoon rather than like a movie's character.
DAII: Isabella's character was well developed, I just didn't like her personality.
DA:I: Dorian was too much of a whiner. At least Anders had a cause. Dorian just whined about everything.
Honorable Mentions: Nathaniel Howe (a bit more developed than Velanna), Bethany (her character development in the Circle or Grey Wardens didn't really seem to convincing), Iron Bull (out of character with all the previous Qunari we encountered).
Leliana. They've been shoving her in our face for years and I'm tired of it, personally. The writers may love her, but I sure don't.
DAO: Sten. He just bored me to tears, as most things Qun tend to do, as it turns out.
DA2: Isabella. I didn't have use for her in combat, I didn't like her, and I really didn't like the jokes that the party made at her expense. I don't totally dislike her, but there was just no chemistry between her and my Hawke.
DAI: If I am going to be totally honest, there are very few characters in DAI that I really feel passionate about either way. I just don't think it has a really strong cast overall, even though the voice acting and character designs were great. The writing (mostly) left me cold. If I had to choose a least favorite, I guess I'd say Solas or Dorian.
DAO: Leliana & Alistair. Leliana because she was just annoying and I didn't give two craps about her and Alistair because of his behavior during the landsmeet if you let Loghain live. Also, after a few playthoughs, the lovable goof ball act gets annoying.
Awakening: Justice & Anders. Justice was a self righteous demon with two tongues and Anders was just annoying. The way he turned out in DA2 was inevitable.
DA2: Anders, and more Anders. Talk about a walking talking poster child for a pro Tranquil movement.
DAI: Didn't care for most of them. Least fave would probably be Iron Bull. "Blah Blah Blah I'm a super spy, BAUSS. Blah blah blah, I'm a super awesome liar, BAUSS. Blah blah blah I don't know when to STFU, BAUSS." And he hurts my eyes just looking at him.

Justice was not a demon in awakening. Maybe in DA2, yeah, but not awakening.
DAO - Morrigan (stupid evil and I can't call her on it.)
DA2 - Isabela (though this was easily resolved and honestly of all the DA casts I disliked DA2's the least.)
DAI - Dorian (Dorian gets so snippy and condescending I want to punch him in the face.) & Blandwall (Just. Ugh).
Pretty much how I feel about him to. Bull has the position of being the only Weekes character across ME an DA that I dont like. He just reminds me of a sweaty cool bro dude that says they have depth but are really just bleugh so they talk themselves up to much.
Would have loved to have seen an in character Qunari that maybe had little quirks like Bull has? Would have been funny for a straight faced Qunari to slip and make a stupid dad joke or be bawdy out of nowhere. Instead he's just another jockish character. To be fair I did try to like him, dragged him around with me and some of his banter is great. His banter with Solas is my fave Bull banter. Him wanting to pull his face off at Solas' immovable stubborn opinions is how I feel sometimes too. (I agree with Solas on his opinions of the qun, but its still funny)
Did not like Velanna either. Much to abrasive for me. She grated my nerves. Didnt feel much of anything for the DA2 cast. Although I find them really the best material for fan artist/DA jokes so in a weird way I like them for that if it makes sense?
I didnt really care about Blackwall but Trespasser helped him get a few points. And again, I dragged him around to get a better picture and again, some of his banter is awesome. Viv is like Regina George and Im like whoever that character was in mean girls where as I dont like her but still try to get her approval, lol. What is life? And I like Varric but he doesnt do much for me...
I don't like the term "least favorite" specifically because I feel that still implies that I like them, just less so than the rest.
I have characters I don't like and am just neutral on, and I have characters that I actively dislike.
There are several on both lists, though not nearly so many as on my favorite's list.
But if I were to say the one character I hate, it would be Bianca Davri. This woman is the most blatant attempt at Bioware trying way too hard to get us to like a character. She's sassy and snarky, she's a better smith than Branka, Dagna, or Wade; she's a better shot than Varric. She's invaluable to the Merchant's guild to the point that they'll kill Varric if he's within 300 leagues of her. She invented a one of a kind crossbow that no one can replicate, but she could mass produce if she wants but she's too good to do that because she's afraid of the death it will cause - forget about the advantage that it would give Orzammar against the Darkspawn. Even her f*ck-ups are presented as something we should forgive because they ultimately benefit us in revealing that Red Lyrium is blighted.
It gets worse upon reading World of Thedas vol. 2 where it's revealed that Paragon talk wasn't BS; this dwarf is a one woman industrial revolution that's single-handedly turning Thedas into a steampunk setting off screen with her inventions, and is legitimately up for a paragon vote, which would make her the first surface dwarf to become a paragon if it passes, with her inventions shifting the entire balance of power in dwarven society. But of course she doesn't care about it at all, because she's just above all that.
And despite that, with all the knowledge perks we get, we've never heard anything about her because she needs to be mysterious as well.
And of course, she can threaten the Inquisitor and we don't even get the chance to respond to it.
She is the single most sue-ish, over the top, "LOOK AT THIS CHARACTER AND HOW AWESOME SHE IS" character I have ever seen Bioware write for outside of their protagonists, and even including some of their protagonists.
I hate Fiona. I hate Michel. I have a strong dislike for Cole. I don't like Sera or Solas or Aveline or Wynne. But I loathe Bianca.
she's a better smith than Branka, Dagna, or Wade
Don't they all do different things? Branka's Paragon achievement was alchemical (inventing a new kind of coal), Dagna specializes in magic, and Wade specializes in armor, while Bianca's focus is nonmagical engineering.
They all have different specialities but it's made a point that Bianca's still the best there is. She boasts that she's "ten times the smith Branka was"... or was it a hundred times? I forget. Anyway, Varric also states in his non-bullshitting voice that she's "without a doubt the best smith you'll ever meet." WoT vol2 goes on at some length about her genius and the wide ranging effect it's having. While it doesn't out and out say it, the general suggestion is that working on something as mundane as armor is just beneath her skills.
Dagna probably has her beat out in terms of knowledge of magic, but a good bit of the point of Bianca's stuff is that it's making magical methods, such as lyrium working, obsolete.
Corypheus. Although I loved DAI, I felt like he was a very weak villain and very forgettable.

So, this raises the question: would you be willing to work with Solas and tear down the Veil just to see that Bianca's inventions become irrelevant?
DA:O - Morrigan, she just rubs me the wrong way, all the time, snarky ******
DA:A - Oghren, he's just too much sometimes.
DA2: Anders ... stop dragging me into your BS. I liked you once upon a time. Templars ftw just because of you.
DA:I: I kinda like all of my companions. I can't decide on my least favorite
*snip*

I forgot about Bianca.

When did you become a desire demon?
I forgot about Bianca.
Man I wish she had stayed a story
Honestly after my initial distaste for her following my first playthrough I was content to let her fade into obscurity in my memory as one black spot on Bioware's record. But I've been replaying DAI lately and happened to be doing Varric's quest with her right about the time I got a copy of WoT vol2 and read the entry for her, and it all came rushing back with a vengeance.
So yeah, I'm with you there. And I wish that story had remained untold.
