I didn't know Im not a fan of Sera didn't bring her on story missions I'm a warrior varric was my rogue.Er... What? That's just flat wrong. She very much does believe in demons. She's scared of them, and the temple of Mythal makes her think that the Elven religion is demon worship ie. the Elven gods are actually demons.

Cole. Never took that weirdo with me. Useless.
I don't hate Cole, but I just can't think of a mission where I'd care to take him over anyone else. I guess I'm just not a fan of his spirit-y rambling when he comments on things, regardless of whether or not he has unique insight that other companions can't possess.

I sincerely wanted to like Vivienne. I really tried. I perhaps thought people might be hating on her for being a woman, and being confident and assertive (i.e. assertive women are labeled as arrogant and bossy, whereas assertive men are labeled as confident, decisive, fearless, etc.).
I really tried.
But no. She *does* just suck. She isn't assertive or just confident-- she's rude and pompous and self-serving and holier-than-thou, etc. Seriously, I can find barely any redeeming qualities about Vivienne. I just felt so "eh" about her. Not hatred, but just like "Why did I recruit you again?"
I would (genuinely)-- I'm open to it-- like to hear anyone list what they liked about her, or what they saw as her positive qualities, because I'm tapped out.
Cheers.

I feel the same way. I can't bring myself to take her along with me anywhere. She's not the most horrible character (I've given worse people a second chance during judgement), but she does grate on my nerves. However, I can see Vivienne working for certain RP avenues.

I really enjoy Vivienne, she's quite a nuanced character. She's very concerned with appearances and advancement because she's spent so long manoeuvring in a precarious environment, but she's genuinely committed to the Inquisition. I always have high approval with her so I can't speak for her low approval dialogue, but she's always offering advice and even turns the loss of her lover into a way to extend the influence of the Inquisition. (And I see those as her way of showing approval- through practical suggestions rather than bonding- she's someone whose very political lifestyle makes having friends in the traditional sense very difficult)I feel the same way. She comes across very cold because she's often judgemental and opinionated, but she also doesn't really reveal much of herself outside of her ambitions. When Haven is under attack, she tells the PC it would be better to leave the civilians and head straight for the temple, but she gives approval for rescuing them. I think she's very big-picture oriented in comparison to Sera who represents the costs and trials of the individual.
I don't agree with Vivienne on a lot of issues, and I don't think her character is particularly likeable, but my Inquisitors always have a lot of respect for her.

It's a point in her favor that I dislike her so very much. One needs a foil to make a story interesting, though I think they could have done more with it. I could see her turning against the Inquisitor in the future and becoming an archenemy. I keep wondering who she was before she ascended the heights of privilege.
The flipside is that most of the companions are astonishingly friendly and agreeable, even to a Dalish elf mage.

Yup, DAI is great but still, they sort of screwed it, they turned a potential free for all continental skirmish into "everything is Corypheus' fault"

DA:O - Leliana...she just comes off as a naive religious zealot, especially to an elven Warden
DA:A - Velanna...she came of as an intolerant, self-absorbed "B" word....
DA:2 - Merrill...she comes off as a daft, naive twit who needs to be slapped across the face because she can't see the obvious. She's also too "flowery" for my tastes.
DA:I - honestly, I don't really "dislike" anybody. If I had to pick, I guess I would say Morrigan simply because I don't trust her as far as I can throw her.
*edit*
Now that I think of it...I'd have to go with Mother Giselle for DA:I. I thought she was cool beans in the beginning (not the biggest fan of organized religion so when I come across a "laid back" religious figure I'm pretty cool with it). But then she crossed the line with her comments about Dorian. Nobody messes with Dorian. Nobody.

DA:O: Isolde. Every time I hear "Oo ees zees woomahn, Teegahn?", I want to slap her.
DA:2: Anders, because he turned Justice into a demon and has the blood of thousands on his hands for starting the Mage-Templar War with his murder of the people in the Chantry.
DA:I: Vivienne. She's rude and condescending, and if you reply to her with anything other than how right she is about everything you lose approval.

I'm actually quite fond of Vivienne, just not in my party. A lot of her dialogue about mages and templars makes far too much sense, far more than the nonsense I hear about "Mages should be teh freez!" that everyone else seems to give.
I'm rather fond of the fact that there are a few nuances to her character. She states that it's going to slow you down to rescue the Haven villagers when you're trying to retreat to the Chantry (a very cold, but true, statement), yet if you do it anyway and succeed, she is one of two who approves (the other being Varric. This includes Blackwall and Sera, who supposedly care about the little guys). If you stop whining and complaining about "teh mages", she comes off as a jerk, but a reasonable jerk.
If I take her with me, I usually put her with Cassandra, Varric, or Sera, because I don't like her banter with some of the others.

Wynne and Fenris are the main two I would consider least favourites... Sera would come after these as my next least favourite. I suppose Zevran as well, but thats mainly because there is no way to trust him and he always ends up dead for me, lol
As for non-companion characters, Isolde from DAO!!

DA:O= Cousland's Mother (for not letting me go and kill Howe when he was attacking the castle)
DA:II= Anders (for getting full of Alahu Akbhar)
DA:I= Vivienne (because she was at the end the divine when i wanted to put Leliana instead)

Oghren hands down. I have no time or patience for drunkards and found his story uninteresting to boot.
I also love to hate Vivienne. She's a cool character and I like some tension in my playthroughs so it works, but good grief I would not want to meet her in person.
And it's because of what she can offer that I recruit her in nearly all my PTs.
But when I get around to replaying what is to be my "canon" Inquisitor, I won't allow it.
Annoying Vivienne and giving her the wrong heart is all well and good, but her greatest fear and weak spot is irrelevance.
What does wound her deepest is denying her the opportunity to be part of an organization with the potential to influence the fate of so many.

I also forgot to add that I absolutely can't stand Bianca. Maybe it's a bit of disappointment that Varric isn't romanceable...but mainly it's because of her stupidity and selfishness...her reckless abandon. She's pretty much the person to blame for red lyrium getting loose, and she never seems to understand just how damaging her stupidity was...nor did she seem very sorry.
But the straw that broke the camel's back was her last comment..."I'll feed you your own eyeballs, Inquisitor." My reaction was like "Oh yeah? I dare you to try..."
Oh yeah, and I'd also just love to throw Fiona off a cliff somewhere. I liked her in the book, but my goodness what an idiot she turned out to be. Vivienne sums it up perfectly when she comments that Fiona would be better off spending her time gardening.

There are characters I like more than others, but I have yet to find a character to hate. For DA it's usually I want to marry them or I really like them, I like them or I feel indifferent about them. Beware of rant below....
DA:O:
- Leliana annoyed me from time to time. It got to a point where I was just so sick of hearing about the chantry. But compared to characters like Alistair she was like an unsalted potato chip in the presence of Godiva chocolate truffles.
- Zevran also annoyed me. I'm not particularly fond of characters who want to jump you the moment they see you because from personal experience, the sex is always lacklustre. People compare him to Dorian because they're both flirtatious, but Dorian has charm and subtlety whereas Zevran reminds me of this seedy Italian guy I was seeing who used to say "Of course I'm good in bed...I'm Italian." *wink* EUGH!.
DA2:
- Isabella was hit or miss for me. Like really girl, I tried to help you then you beed ass to me! Also, I never quite got her schtick. But again, didn't hate her, just she wasn't in my party. I did love her sense of humor though. We'd be friends IRL but I wouldn't invite her to my wedding.
- Merrill, oh man Merrill. I loved her actually in the beginning, but she is just so...stupid. I wish there was an option in game to shake her and try to convince her that hey, she's being really dumb. But it happened a little too late no? Still though, I do like her, but man is she stupid!
- The bartender at the tavern. Won't serve me proper drinks. Was hoping for some ME3-esque drunk sequence.
DA:I
- Vivienne - don't hate her, I just haven't found anything about her to like...The snowy wyvern quest thing...Is it so hard for her to tell me what she wanted it for? I RP my inquisitor as my inquisitor and not some all-knowing game god who knows that giving the heart too her won't rend anything negative, but the IQ doesn't know that. They'd want to know what it's for. So when she got annoyed with my IQ because he lied I was like "Dude seriously? Leader of the inquisition and you won't tell them what it's for? For all he knew it was to blow up Skyhold."
- Sera - *sigh* although I get the feeling if you romance her she's more tolerable.
- Cullen - gorgeous man tempting me with his handsome face and fine body but is all 'nah I like chicks.'
- Iron Bull - aside from his manboobs, he's a bit...flat. I like him, but he's not a favourite. There isn't much to him.
