Idk, maybe this is the result of good writing? Engaging characters that can affect the player? Only ME3 will tell...

Kaidan and most of the others were just boring.

I know Bioware wanted the previous characters (more specifically the love interests) to play a limited role in ME2 to have a bigger role in ME3, but now it just puts a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth and makes me want to know where this is going in ME3.

How would you react if the person you loved whom you thought died two years ago was all of a sudden walking around with a crew of people working for an organization that you saw firsthand does terrible experiments and are more or less terrorists?
I'm sure you wouldn't be all rainbows and sunshine either,

Besides, I got my comeuppance on the Illusive Man at the end. A real big FU to him.

If anyone remembered her dialogue at all in ME. Human-centric, xenophobic and not-so borderline racist, she already thinks like they do so I fail to see her problem.
Hell, she gave a throwaway line for how "bad" the Terra Firma party was in ME1 yet she spent the rest of the game spouting their campaign rhetoric.

I romanced Ashley in ME 1 just for the sake of the story. I never felt any attatchement to her whatsoever. A Paragon Shepard would never be into a woman like her.

Mine was, too. For the sake of the story. For the sake of having a paragon playthrough where she was the LI.
But do you really think a paragon would be into her? For all her wailing, she THINKS like Cerberus and Terra Firma. Has she ever listened to herself?
She's like one of those racist types who don't see themselves as racists because they have one or two black acquaintences that they call friends in an effort to deny to everyone (including themselves) that they are racist.

She says she works for YOU not cerberus, Ash pretty much hates you for even being with them even after saying he's not working for them.
imo Tali >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Samara>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ash
which reminds me, is the only way for her to join the normandy is to have her romanced from ME1?

Ash isn't a racist. I don't know where people get that just because she's inexperienced at dealing with aliens. And she hates Terra Firma AND Cerberus and what they stand for.

Aliens shouldn't be here. (On the ship) A concern that does have SOME validity. But only some.
We humans have to do our own thing.
We can go it alone.
We don't need allies. (They're fine. We shouldn't turn them down, but we don't need them. And we should expect to be stabbed in the back.)
Humanity comes first. Other races shouldn't enter into the equation (i.e. when push comes to shove they don't matter at all.)
She may not like Terra Firma's teabagger rhetoric, but her entire dialogue set throughout ME1 is in almost complete agreement with them.
And, while she may dislike Cerberus' methods she's all about humanity first, and, if need be humanity only)
So she's not only racist, but a raging hypocrite to boot.

And how can anyone stand Kaiden? I left his ass on virmire to die and Id do it again.
He has his own problems: primarily that he's a wimpy meterosexual. But at least he's a decent human being and not a racist hypocrite.

Cerberus... we get it... you hate Ashley. You think she's a racist. Which is understandable but in actuality its more complicated than that. I am a Paragon. I play like I am... and make the choices in game accordingly. So hear me out when I say, I like Ash and was genuinely attracted to her. She's tough. She's ready [probably too ready] to sacrifice herself before others. That's Paragon. Her rhetoric is nothing more than a defence mechanism. She is inexperienced dealing with aliens. She can't trust them. She hates Cerberus and Terra Firma because they prey on innocent people.. they're fear mongerers. And they do terrible things in the name of something pure... like religious militants. They are a dangerous contradiction. She is different. She groups aliens together as a threat because she can't understand them with all her baggage. I don't agree with that choice. But that's one dynamic that evolves the relationship. ParagonShep helps her work through that fear. Helps her understand, "Aliens aren't special, They're saints and ****s, just like us."
You have to qualify what you say with "probably too ready" That's not "Paragon" so much as "martyr complex" Probably believing her death will in some way clear her family name. If they had actually explored that rather than having her spewing Tennyson and borderline hate speech I might have liked her more.
Her rhetoric as a "defense" implies that there's something underneath it. There may be, but there wasn't much evidence that there is based on ME1.
I go by what she says and how she says it. It seems to me that one has to engage in some Ashley apologetics to rationalize her views and attitudes.
"She can't understand them..." Makes it difficult when you have no interest in trying. Many of these people she ends up fighting for (game) months side by side with. Her attitudes don't soften at all.
But hey, that said, play it how ever you want. That said, After ME1 I had no interest whatsoever if I ever saw her again much less the notion of being 'hurt' because she doesn't care for what I'm doing.
You feel differently. That's cool
Indeed, after all the time spent together in service one would think that that alone would have earned a little trust, not even considering he's someone she's been intimate with and allegedly had feelings for.
