I'd love to see different types of rifts, each with different resistances.

Death rifts resit necro tree

Life rifts resist spirit tree

Fire rifts resist inferno tree

Ice rifts resist Winter tree

Storm Rifts resist electricity

It would make the game more challenging and, could add some nice graphics for each type too.

Picture is a death rift from another game, just for a visual idea of what I mean.

Of course this only works if you can switch your weapons during combat.

I'm not sure if rifts should have elemental attributes, but they could deal elemental damage. I'd be fine with that.

Mainly what I want to see with rifts is what we saw in the pre-alpha footage where the rifts are very large, encompass entire areas, and require strategy to get to. I would also like to see rifts distort reality and cause different effects to the landscapes.

I would definitely like rifts to be more interesting, and to have more types of them. The easiest way to do this would be to have massive rifts, that spew out many waves of demons, and perhaps even require help to close. And by "help" I mean something more that simply using the anchor. It could make for some good difficult fights in DLC. I also think the game would benefit greatly not just from hard fights, but long ones. Especially with how potions currently work. That's half the reason dragons are hard.

Maybe even rifts (or fights for that matter) that have you split your team into groups like in Denerim in Origins.

I would love that! I miss those moments. I'm hoping DLC will add some cool moments like those, because there was not even one scene in Inquisition where your whole party is present.

I agree with the above. An idea I just had about help sealing massive rifts is that you call on your allies, the mages or the templars to help like before. This would require setting up a battle strategy to take the field and hold it. Your opponents would be Vints, Reds, Demons, etc. There would also be random wildlife, including the map's dragon, unless you killed it already. The object would be to have your Inquisition troops attack the enemy forces while the mages or templars moved toward the breach. The mages and templars would all have their own pros and cons, like speed of movement, level of defense, attack range, etc. But this is all too grandiose for BioWare.
