So I'm bouncing up and down on that stupid little cave in the Emerald Graves because I want the flower crown hat thingy, but it's not working right. To anyone who has successfully done this, some assistance would be greatly appreciated. 

 

At first, I already had the Crystal Graces (14 of them, more than I needed) in my inventory, and I heard that you can't start the process if you already have them.  I was going to store them in the Skyhold storage chest, but damn it all, we can't store plant material in the chest.  (Why not BioWare!!!??!!) So I sold them all and planned on gathering them back up after the little gnome -or whatever he is- says what he is supposed to say. But he keeps saying different things.

 

And here I am bouncing up and down on this little cave like an idiot, and I keep slipping off of it after every 5 or 6 jumps. I wonder if that is messing up my flow?  Why make it so hard to stick to surfaces!!!  BioWare!!!!!!!

I don't think the count starts over if you fall off the cave rock. I need to get to the Emerald Graves so I can try this out, too.

He keeps saying, "Not time to come out yet."  and  "You are deviating from the plan" or whatever. 

 

He is supposed to say, "Need more. Have to be ready."  

 

But he won't. No matter how may times I've jumped.  And I've jumped way more than 50 times.

Try making your companions jump on the cave. Couple of jump with Varric then switch to Bull or whoever you have in your party. He likes having different people on his cave. 

It's okay if you slip, just jump back up on that cave.  Check your journal to make sure the quest The tiniest cave didn't sneak into it. When you've jumped enough you should see a little ring at the mouth of the cave and the word place.

 

You can do this! I believe in you.

Hate to tell you this but I did it with 15 Crystal Graces in my inventory, it just tells you once you get the prompt to place the flowers and your done your go get your flower crown. Done it twice now with different Inquisitors one already had all the crystal graces the other only had half of them and had to go collect the rest.

I tried it with all 14 of them too, but all he kept saying was "You are deviating from the plan,"  which made me think that what people said about already having the flowers in my inventory was true.  

 

No matter.  I need that blasted crown, and I will go through the grunt work of collecting all the Crystal Graces again, but I just need that fraking gnome to say "Need more".

 

Did he ever say "Need more"  for you?

One thing, if you are playing a dwarf, it might be easier to have a skinnier companion like a human or elf jump on the cave. They seem to have an easier time sticking on the surface instead of sliding off.

I had mine in my inventory, but it took extra jumps/time to trigger the quest for me. Then it showed up and gave me a spot to place them.

I will have to this in my current playthrough. Never knew about that hidden cave.

Yes he did but eventually I got the prompt to place them. Each time I am sure I jumped more than fifty times though. It seems to take ages and he goes through some phrases a few times.

I've always already had the crystal graces beforehand but it doesn't matter.

 

Quicksave before you start then start jumping until he starts talking. Keep count of how many times you jump, only stop once you reach 50. Like others have said it doesn't matter if you fall off. If he says  'deviating from the plan' the quest has failed and you need to reload. Once you reach 50 stop and jump off and take a step back and go  in front of the cave. The quest should officially start then and you should be able to place the crystal graces.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Unfortunately I haven't gotten far in Emprise Du Lion with this Inquisitor. I gave the gnome the flowers, but now I am fighting my way to the endless dungeon in Emprise.

You don't need to reload. After you jumped fifty times, just move a few steps away from the cave and then approach it again. He'll spout another line. Do that a few times and you should get the quest.

Sorry but wtf is this quest? How was anyone ever supposed to know to do that? :/
