Humor me please.
Sword and Sheild is fun to play but overall warriors have little inspiration or that cool factor for the animations and skills. The mage looks badass slingin spells and fade steppin. The Archer looks badass jumping and dodging while getting off triple arrows. The daggerman has some sweet looking moves and the parry move for two handed sword should also be in the one handed sword department as well. Also I think the Oe Handed sword and two handed sword trees shouldn't single out the type of weapon your using. Instead of auto equipping a wooden shield when you don't equip a shield then you should use your swords with two hands but instead of heavy stats like damage and guard busters how about greater chance to cause sunder/bleed or dex stat boosts for greater criticals and then you could use the two handed skill tree onl the earth shattering strike and tornado would need to be something different.
I just feel like sword and shield is more shield than anything. Lunge and slash is the only sword attack and its based on distance. I cant parry or use pommel strike which seem like perfectly legit longsword attacks. Jumping and then attacking would be a cool combination as well as some difference in the damage and type of damage you do with cross slashing and stabbing or over under (hand) attacks (which there are none although enemies use them.) If you are pressing the analog stick forward you stab and if you attck another enemy to the side or behind you as well as in front youll do a little neay stab move or a shield bash move. And it looks a bit akward when you magnetize your attacks when a few feet away from an enemy as you just warp into distance while attacking instead of maybe a short dash that could of been animated.
Lastly, nd this is the most specifc. I just think that being able to parry/block while strafe-hoping from side to side like some of the swordsmen enmies do just makes them seem like better fighters which is why a pure swordsmen tree would of been a sweet NEW edition instead of rmoving some trees and cramming it all into 4 per class and making ombat less visceral. In DA2 when you pulled your weapon you stated to run faster and th animations, especially with two handed weapons where just badass. Mages could still melee if an enemy was close (which is what I presumed to think the blade on the end of the staff was for) and even archers would melee with fists or maybe they used there bows and a generic daggers in a cool original way. I gues it doesn't really matte in terms of strategy and the combat system but sometimes combat is just a drag and I want to explore the world and see things and what happens next and I want combat to be fun for more than the first couple engagements where I get all strategical and then, because my stats and party combination is max ultra uber strong (I used the word uber) I just buton mash and switch characters from time to time.
Anyway peace. Venatori soidiers rule....and Knib High Football rules.
