Disband or ally with templar order?

Considering that Divine Cassandra seems to work better with the templar support, ive decided to replay my main playthrough with templars instead of mages.

I am however conflicted about whether i should ally with them or disband them.

Ive heard that you only get Ser Barris quest chain (That leads to him becoming knightcommasnder) if you ally with them.

On the other hand, disbandning them seems to make the inquisitions army considerably stronger.

Right now disbandning them seems more appropriate, since the templar order can start anew once Cassandra reforms the order.

What course of action would benefit me the most with Cassandra as divine?

I don't know. Maybe reroll a character with a less of a cross eyed look. Maybe then you can you make up your own mind.

I doubt it makes much difference. We won't see the repercussions of that decision and if we do, it probably won't be in this game. The Keep is now the way Dragon Age will handle importing so I'll say, go with whatever you think is best and if it's not, when the time comes, change that decision in the Keep.

That's kind of rude, don't you think? What if that character was based off of what the poster looks like? Then you've just insulted him... tsk tsk.

I can't resist.  I didn't insult him though. Just his character. If he put more thought into it, he'd put more thought into a character concept too. From there, choices are easy.

I can verify on many playthroughs you do not get the Ser Barris chain if you conscript the templars. And from that you know I conscript them. Why?

1. I almost always play a mage, and many of them aren't big fans of templars; only choosing them over the mages because the mage path is a stupid, unnecessary risk that I cannot make in good conscience. Thus, disbanding the templars after ignoring the mage path is a small victory in the way of mage freedom.

2. Considering the state of the templar order keeping it around given the crisis is far more a negative than a positive. It can easily backfire if there's still corruption in the ranks. It would also take time to rebuild it. The inquisition will function better with unity. Besides, the templar order can be remade once the crisis is over if they wish. After all, the first templar order came from the inquisition disbanding.

Allying with them makes it much easier to get Cassandra as Divine, so that's a factor. I believe conscription benefits Leliana.

Both conscription and alliance favor Cassandra, conscription gives her 5 points, alliance gives her 10.

And Ser Barris war table is bugged for conscription, before patch 2 it was possible to do them, here is a video of his promotion with the templars conscripted: https://account.xbox...76-e00e7fe465df

Streetmagic, i just dont see what point there is in commenting on my characters appearance. Atleast it made me realise that i needed to switch to a slightly more "flattering" character pic. So thanks for that atleast :).

My question mostly just stems from that ive already spent way to many hours on different playthroughs. In the last one i ended up getting viv as divine, which basically come as a complete surprise. Therefore i wanted to find out more about the different routes and content before i made up my decision . And especially if only templar allies could get ser barris quests (ive heard different accounts on the subject).

I think it really depends on the character/RP. I think the hardest choice is the Dwarf Quizzy. he/she used to work for the Carta, and allying with them would probably be good for business, but then again, they are morons who might do no good with the lyrium the Carta sells them.

Either way, how it plays out is largely the same.

I, however, find making them free allies to be the more inspiring/uplifting conclusion. Just personal preference, though.

And Solas will greatly approve if you conscript/disband them. We can't have that. Always better to p!ss that guy off.

Thats a good point draken. Ill prolly just go with disbanding them though. Mainly because my character isnt really a templar lover. He just want a "tool" against the breach and the mages tevinter allies. Disbanding them fits that agenda better.

I plan on conscripting them in my next PT. That said, if all else fails, do a dilemma throw.

After seeing the visions in the Fade, I think it makes the most sense to rebuild the Templars. Making the Inquisition an ultimate power sounds like it could really backfire in the future. Besides that, these Templars are mostly good guys that actually uphold the ideal of the Order, and it gives the Inquisition a real prestige boost in the eyes of the public. The Templars are respected.

That's nice to know. I had heard that Templar conscription favored Leliana more. Glad to know I was wrong in this.

Really? Morrigan can't wait to disapprove at everything you do. Solas approves every time you ask the guy a question!

There's a old Nordic saying: Words are a weak man's weapon.

It was originally a bit more direct and specific but that's the gist of it.

It's mainly pro-templars who say this.

Really? I know Morrigan hates Templars. and the Chantry. However I thought in most case Morrigan disapprove when you're being too nice or goody two shoes. Like when you choose to defend Redcliffe, and why you're always pro-templars this and that.

I was talking about the pro-templars hating Solas since they are pretty much the majority of people who dislike Solas.
