Solas is willing to admit that he was wrong but his initial opinions about the Inquisitor and his race if you pick the right dialogue option and have high approval with him. The man is willing to admit that he's wrong.

Probably won't mean much if you goes head with his possibly evil plan, but at least he realized that could be wrong.

Indeed, but as far as I've known he's only admitting that he was wrong about you, and in case you Inquisitor is (Vashoth) Qunari he'll admit that you're different from your people. Please correct me if I was wrong, but I don't see him changing his opinion about the Qunari and the Qun, as he's still saying that Qunari are savage creatures, and their ferocity held in check only by the teaching of the Qun, but you're right in the end he is willing to admit that he misjudge you, and that he was wrong about the Inquisitor.

I can't help myself but to link what I've once seen linked before...

Slightly exaggerated ;)

Still, saying that Solas realized he could be wrong is... a bit much. He admits - on VERY rare occasions - that you're different from other Qunari, or that Dalish might've actually done something right for once ("created" you), but that's more like admitting existence of exceptions rather than ability to challenge his own views. Not that it's surprising from a guy who apparently f*cked things up with best intentions then f*cked things up trying to fix that and now is on yet another quest to fix all he's ever f*cked up... only to, yet again, begin with the assumption that he's smarter than everyone and has it all figured out.

Basically, he messed up twice and while he claims that he learned his lesson (in banter with Cole "much younger elf who thought he knew everything") he really didn't - he does the same thing again and again blindly following his great ideas without consideration that perhaps his extreme measures should be double-checked with someone seeing as they tend to backfire.

That's not someone who simply realizes that he made a hasty judgement and perhaps should re-think it. Acknowledging exceptions is likely the best he can do, really...

Uhm, did I cause this discussion on Solas? If so, I apologize for derailing the thread.

It wouldn't be the first time people getting off-topic on the BSN, but you're right, it's better to stick with the main subject pf this thread.

Yup. Solas and Vivienne threads on the circles and the role of templars is much more interesting and more in line with the thread.

As a Dalish elf mage, I conscripted the templars. I wanted them under my thumb and the rebel mages were little more than weak willed fools who joined the venatori.

I conscripted the Templars with one of my mage inquisitors - my Dalish lady mage. Somehow I still managed to have Vivienne as Divine in that play through.  I don't think there is an inherently better way to go about things re conscript vs free.  I think in the end it should be about how you want that inquisitor to view the situation. He or she can't meta game like you and I.  So go with your inquisitor's gut, as it were.

I had them allied, promoted Barris, persuaded Cullen to stop the Lyrium, helped Cassandra reform the Seekers and made Cass Divine. They'll be doing fine for a long time.

In the end I went with Ally after originally having leaned towards disbanding them. Mainly cause it seems like a better PR move for the Inquisition. If you disband them, it makes the Inquisition look like a powerhungry threat. Allying with them prolly makes the general population look more favorably upon the inquisition. My Inquisitor doesnt really expectt to hold onto his Inquisitor role forever, so hes not really intrested in making the Inquisition into a longlasting Military Power. He just wants to stop Corypheus.

With my dwarf rogue, I am having a hard time. I keep thinking about disbanding the Templars with her, but I tried and spoke to Barris during the quest (promptly reloaded) and it kind of convinced me that the rest of the order is worth saving. But then I kind of want Alexius because he is a moron.

Also, the thing with Vivienne, I think BioWare is basing this on the fact that Vivienne respects the Templar order and wants it restored.

Yes, she wants the Templar Order restored on a very tight leash.

How does allying with the Templars equate to allowing them to stumble on their own? The Inquisition can still function as a guide and them rebuild as part of an alliance. Also if you saved Ser Barris he does become a very good leader for the Templars.

You can still endorse Barris' nomination for KC even if you conscript them.

Supposedly you can endorse him, but his war table missions is bugged and may not appear when you conscript the Templars.
