Turning off some of these, like the bottles would be welcome after you've done it once.

I agree forced random loot can be tedious rather than exciting. In DAI this applies to essentially all of the highest-quality items in the game, so whether or not you get lucky with a couple of drops could greatly influence your playthrough. Although, all schematics, items and resources can be edited in through using cheat engine, so I would recommend anyone who want personal control over this to play on PC.

I agree. I farmed for hours just trying to get the bloody dalish warrior armour and still couldn't find it. Same thing for fade-touched items. Even with that bloody perk you have to farm the ****** VENDORS. It's ridiculous. They should be static drops tied to quests. But I like the sharing idea. Though might wanna restrict the high teir armour till you reach a certain level or complete a quest.

@OP You don't get it, right?
This game consists of fetch quests and 'exploring the world' to 'get the best possible items, schematics and materials'. If Bioware decides to remove the RNG and the need to go around trying your luck with lootboxes the very basics of the game mechanics are gone. At least three of the areas are going to be 90% less visited (Exalted plains, Emerald Graves and that location with the shardy temple I don't recall). Two locations are going to be 50% less visited (Hissing Wastes and Emprize-du-Lion).
That's more than a half (50%, fifty percent) of the game that will go down in flames.
Since the cure is worse than disease in Bioware's eyes you won't get it... not until BW decides to be suicidal for the EA and the own chairmen.

The issue I think is that there isn't enough schematics for RNG in some items like Tier 3 one-handed swords. Also there is no-where to buy left-over schematics whom haven't been collected or for players who want a certain schematic.
RNG is so the player don't have play all aspects of the game to get a certain schematic they want or sufficient items to complete the game.
RNG also only works in games where content is constantly refreshed and the fact people are gaming the system to farm due to chests not re-spawning after empted shows that DA:I does not have the best implemented approach to RNG in my opinion.
Its a single-player and the unique items are good enough to complete the game so the schematics are more for the looks or people wanting to have the best available items in the game.
*They could implement a method to consistently farm items but no experience given for it like a "Battle Arena". I know I don't hugely care as once any DLC comes out the items in that might be level based so might out perform all schematics in the game and DLC could include new schematics to the game aswell.

I remember an older game, Parasite eve 2 on PSone. There was a great system to unlock the best gear with the new game+
Each time you completed the game, you get new gear in stores. The best run you get, the best gear in the store in new game+ And the best stuff in the store mean a better run!
Sadly, for DAI, the best and only way to obtain the best gear is to rely solely on LUCK. It's a videogame, not a paper RPG with dices! I can't punch my GameMaster to have my Vorpal Blade! ![]()

i stopped playing MMOs when i realised i need to grind more than IRL to get something decent. or pay real life money. cuz RNG Gods hate me. you know, when EA came up with F2P model and subscribers were slapped in the face?
no, just. no. gaming is supposed to be FUN, advancing, getting shiny, new gear should be a moment of joy, not a CHORE
RNG loot tables in a single player game? that's just f...n ridiculous.

At least in single player the Loot in Chest respawn when you leave area and come back. Try getting specific crafting mats in MP. Now thats tedious.
