for a four man team on Platinum? To give you an idea, I have done the following challenges with a couple of buddies recently:

4 Volus Vanguards with Predators (Ghost Hazard vs Geth)

4 N7 Shadows with Spitfires (Dagger Hazard vs Collectors)

4 Krolords with Acolytes (Hydra vs Reapers)

All games were epic fails. Two of us were drunk, so we might have made it. However, I need more inspiration to torture my buddies with. All pointers are appreciated. What would you suggest to torture your friends and yourself with?

The Vanilla Drellguard Experience:

 

Four Drellguards with no consumables, and vanilla-era weapons mods on the Katana shotgun.

4 krolords with Acolytes is too easy. Give them Katanas, so you have to rely only on melee. Also, using an Acolyte on a krogan is an insult !

 

Four volus mercs on Condor or London versus geth sounds good to me. Give them crap or weapons so you have to rely a lot on the pets.

4 Vanilla Human Soldiers...Avengers only ...No Armor Piercing of any kind...which means Mods, Consumables....and NO Incid ammo usage either....<-----Everything will take forever to die and you will hate the concussive shot sound the rest of your life.

There's no such thing as a real challenge in this game for 4 experienced players, unless you pose artificial difficulties like don't leave this area, don't shoot your gun and stuff like that.

Even 4 lvl 1 volus mercs with unmodded shurikens are still gonna beat anything you can come up with in a natural way. It's just gonna take so long that no one is willing to do it...

Insult, yes Easy? **** no! We all got sync killed by them Banshees. Haha.

How about 4 Volus Adepts with Katanas (Condor vs Geth)? That sounds pretty hard, too.

4 Novaguards with Spitfires (London vs Collectors) might be "fun," as well.

Somewhat sadistic idea:

 

Ten wave survived with 3 TGIs and a drell vanguard, collector glacier hazard. Actually, might be doable if TGIs are going to cloak with moderate discretion. Yes, and no missiles even on objective waves. Double challenge if drell is playing off host. Substitute TGI for edibot. Other infiltrators might be easier because of more grenades for the drell.

The two setups you mention sound hard, yep. I had to play once a Novaguard with Spitfire in a plat game on White (I don't remember the faction), and it was already pretty hard.

that is the best volus, proxy and recon debuff would make it easy with 4

all of those games would be past my pain tolerance in Gold much less platinum

 

the Volus should be using Shurikens

 

at least the acolyte has practical used for a warlord although reapers on a map with questionable ramps smells like wipeout to me anyways

A tough challenge would be a platinum game where nobody uses a consumable. Any kit and build allowed.

Now this may sound easy for a team of vets but it isn't. Something always happens lol
