Money is secondary. Stay above the poverty line for your respective area, able to provide food, shelter, clothing and keeping the lights on for any kid(s) you have and they will be okay. Spending more money on toys, private classes/school, nicer toys, restaurants, etc. are merely bonuses. Being a good person and not letting the tight money situation take its toll on your ability to stop and listen to your kid's problems with an open ear and a clear head is worth more than more money.

No not everything under the sun should be supported unconditionally, but your child being born gay or not sharing the same religious or political views as you should be. You can still love someone unconditionally without supporting or endorsing their moral views, like I am sure the parents of murderers like Dahmer still loved their child, but felt sorry and ashamed for them. They didn't need to advocate or support their moral choices to continue loving their child, regardless of what deed they did.

I think that's a question that can only be answered once you have a child.
At first I wasn't sure if I could handle the dad job, but after managing to keep my son alive for a year and a half, I'm feeling pretty confident in my daddin' abilities. Also, he thinks I'm the coolest.
Feels good man.

Come to Finland, you don´t need a work as the state pays for practically everything, if you worry about money. Yes, for your children too. Health care and education free, even university. Plus being a ´merican will get you all the chicks you want. Just park in the counter of the bar near you when you arrive. In about half an hour blondes will swarm all over you, and you can pic the mom of your future child. Rest will work itself out.

Eh. Not to take comments too seriously, but this is a GREAT day and age to have kids.
They have cures now for diseases they didn't even have names for when I was born. Technology can allow kids to not only learn at an unprecedented rate, but to be exposed to more subjects, ideas and activities than ever before, widening their perspective on what learning even really is. We are seeing crime worldwide, bkth violent and non-violent, at some of its lowest rates ever. And the worldwide economy is no longer in a tailspin, but is the strongest it has been in decades.
Not a bad time to be alive. And not a bad time to make life.

Well, isn't that an entertaining thread to read.
Shine on, crazy unicorn, hoping your child will have a better life than Perez Hilton's baby, but at this point, I can only wonder.
