This game  is the best game ever. Fan care about story and choices.  Not combat. Give me us what we want bioware. This game so much better that DA: used to do. I'd rather play a 90's game then these game.

Actually, it's a good day for me since I'm pro LGBT and straight allies. If I had to play this game and see this, I wouldn't stop harrassing the writers for this much bigotry until they removed the joke. I'm dead serious.

You mean you wouldn't stop demanding censorship until your golden calf was protected. Because that's what this boils down to - censorship.

I know you are blinded by what you think is moral social justice to see it that way, but just remember that people were blinded by moral religious justice when they censored Galileo or Martin Luthor. Just because you think you are right and someone else is wrong does not give you the right to censor them.

They kowtowed to someone advocating the slaughter of half the worlds population. GG Obsidian - as in bad move should have kept it as is.

It's not a game breaker, but caving into these radicals is wrong. Think I'll go play a Slayer CD. Perhaps God Hates us All.

Wonder if Obsidian just hotfixed some of the issues that came up after the patch Steam is downloading another 500MB update...

Relax Jimmy, I said afterwards I was joking.

At the end of the day, this isn't that big a deal. They consulted the backer and allowed him to make a new one, which I felt was the minimum Obsidian could've done. Maybe gotten him another copy of the game or some special merchandise for his troubles.

But it just goes to show that SJWs actively seek to get offended. This was a literal needle in the haystack situation. One joke out of hundreds that you have to go out of your way to find, and it doesn't affect the game in any way. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so transparently hypocritical. The ones harping about equality are fine about joking killing half the population when complaining about a joke that's "transphobic" (even though there were no transgendered people mentioned). The ones who seek to aid the marginalised are fine with bullying groups and developers into submission, etc etc.

Being a left leaning centrist in a world that seems oblivious to the SJW brand of extreme political correctness culture is suffering. I don't want to agree with conservative politics because I don't and I empathise with the average liberal on most things, but I almost have to because no other mainstream political identity is actually pushing back against the extreme PC culture that's developing in western society.

I foresee a lot of Matt Taylor-esque apologies and Obsidian back-downs in the future. We see it in comics, we see it in games. Tip of the iceberg IMO.

Its okay bro, we'll gladly welcome you to the dark side. Quite a number of folks have become rightists with their right middle finger raised defiantly in the air due to GG and other incidents involving the socjus showing their true colors of soft-totalitarianism driven by "muh feelz".

I was half joking, half being serious. I wouldn't harass them to be honest but I would kindly remind them that transphobic jokes aren't cool. That's all. I'm part of the LGBT myself so I take any joke aimed to belittle and ridicule my kind seriously. I can see and read from Obsidian's tweets that it's something they overlooked, so I'm not angry at them that much... More upset by the fact they didn't think about re-reading themselves before they released the final product.

As part of an actual ethnic minority, I honestly do wonder how messed up and empty you would have be in order for your sexuality - your one deviancy from the norm - to be your primary indentifier in life, referring to those who also like to rub their privates against those of the same gender as "your kind" as if you're somehow seperate from the rest of humanity, forced to sit in the back of the bus until some gendercidal Rosa Parks came by. I genuinely can't imagine what it must be like to live with such an easily offended tribal mindset - in 2015 no less - when there are actual issues that need addressing.

It seems the author of the Limerick decided to change it, Obsidian were happy to leave it as it was.

Seems one effort to avoid a PR nightmare created a bigger one. Road to hell and all that...

Still seems wrong to cave into the lunatic fringe and give them power or even the illusion of power.

It means they're on the right track. I don't know what there really is to explain about it. Unless you want me to get all serious and have to argue with every single person this thread, which ain't gonna happen.

Fair enough, we'll just agree to disagree. :)

(Still, I was really curious at how anyone could justify what happened to Matt Taylor so that's why I pushed the issue.)

In the right track to what? Orwellian society? Modern Inquisition? Utopia? Extinction? Islamic State? Star Trek?

Don't leave us hanging!

Anyone want to talk about PoE before this thread gets closed?

What is the ending situation of the game like? Is it a linear affair like in BG? Or is it pretty dynamic like what we see in FO:NV?
