I've completed the 15 layer dungeon and am on Act III (playing on hard) and I feel like I am running out of steam to complete this game.

Anyone fought a Dragon on PotD yet? Specifically the one at that temple?
Brutal. I have no idea how to beat it. Maybe go back when I reach level 11 or something.

So how is the game after the new patch? Haven't had time to play it since my first playthrough. Starting a Path of the Damned save now. Leaning towards Nature Godlike Paladin. My main issue is that i want to use a 2hander, but melee dps for a lack of a better word seem abit weak in this game. Need to find myself a proper build atleast.

Fighters' sole function, imo, is to keep the enemy engaged. Paladins are just fighters with less engagement options, but have insane defenses (if you stay true to your 'alignment', that is) + healing capabilites.
Or I'm doing it very wrong, which could also be a possibility

Rogues could deal a crapload of damage before they sorted out the Relentless Assault talent glitch.
Yeah, but that same glitch also caused my deflection to go down to 9. Which means everyone who as much as sneezes on your will hit you... hit you good.
Still, even when fixed my rogue outdamages everything, unless I have Aloth AoE the crap out of everything.

My rogue had -82 if def but 160 acc on two weapons with 250 damage each. My enemies didn't even have time to sneeze on her before she turned them into minced meat. ![]()

I like it like this more though

Really starting to struggle a bit now though, some fights seem damn near impossible by now on PotD

Looks better now for sure.
Otherwise I was going to take advantage of that bug in the lighthouse.
For being low level enemies the spirit encounters such as Shades and Spectres tend to feel very cheap on what they can do against you.

Not cheap, just unpredictable.
Makes it difficult to control which is the problem. It's why you need to be level 3-4 to really stand a chance against them, especially groups of 4 or more it becomes troublesome.
One thing I noticed is that they tend to go for Wizards and back-line fighters first. Might be due to the AoE spells.

Very unpredictable.
Still it feels a bit cheap in the way they jump around everywhere or how my party can stand and hit at one of them for a long time without even landing a single hit.
If there is one encounter where a bad roll can screw you over it is them. Plenty of times where they have saved against Aloth's fire spells and then ending up mobbing up on him.
Remember once when they all shot their ice attacks at him even when he was at the back... he was down in a second. ![]()

The Shades in particular seem very powerful for their stated level. They are level 3 monsters but boast almost 70 deflection, which is only matched by enemies with much higher level; for reference, the final boss has 80ish deflection, he buffs himself far further but still. Their auto-attacks cause debuffs such as Stunned or Blinded. They have a ranged, highly accuracte spell. They can teleport straight to your backline. They summon Shadows. All around, they're a much bigger pain in the arse than monsters of their level such as Skuldr and Spear Spiders.
That's without going into the Banshee equivalent and their AoE paralyze. At least you can bait that one out with a sacrificial pet brave animal volunteer.
By the way, how do you get into the lighthouse? I've done several quests in Ondra's Gift and none of them allowed me to enter the place, it requires a key.

You need to talk to some woman that's not very close to the lighthouse. She's on the stones, not the wooden docks.
For lack of a better description
Oh that's an interesting rogue build. I'm thinking of restarting again with a Cipher. After I play around with the rogue with low constitution and intelligence.
Base stats are 16/4/18/18/4/18, lots of bonuses from equipment (and a resting bonus, I think)
Though if I had to remake it, I'd fully go for 18/3/18/18/3/18. That 1 point drop in con and int really isn't going to hurt you.

Does Calisca turn on you?
Sorry for the delayed response; waiting for patching to slow a bit before I play the game, but I did use console to test this fight again to see the outcome if I succeeded.

You can buy the first in Gilded Vale, at the blacksmith. Others can be bought too (at least 1 in defiance bay) and some can be found and I just found the fifth after going for a bounty.
Figurines summon animals or something. And anyone can use them.
Meh, just looked it up:

Seems I only have 2 left to go

Oh, I recall these. I don't know why it didn't click. I love em. They're great for fodder summonings when you, say, have an enemy with AOE mind control.

Ive found them to be pretty weak overall...good for what you said, but unecessary in general.

So there is not point in doing it then gameplay wise.

You will find them very valuable in the hardest boss battle in the game (hint: it is a completely optional fight, but super hard)

Summons are invaluable in fights where you need to either keep one creature busy for a while, or tie up a spellcaster in melee. So as someone said, very useful in a certain bonus boss battle.
The best I found was an Adra Beetle figurine. The beetle takes quite a beating (200ish endurance), can dish out no small amount of pain, and has an AoE attack to boot. Just lovely.

Really enjoying this game.
Never played the likes of BG back in the day, but kinda want to now.
What i really like in PoE is how grey the quests are. There is very little black or white choices, and i also havent noticed any fetch or collection (get me 10 bear pelts) quests at all.
I like how deep the mechanics are, several defense types, many skills, spells and talents to choose.
Having so much more fun with PoE than i did with DA:I.
Goes to show graphics and big empty regions dont make a good game.
