I'm rolling a Paladin whose dispositions are diplomatic and honest. So no murder spree for me. Although he's also totally ammoral. It's actually really fun to play a paladin who's not inclined toward conflict, totally honest ... and 100% indifferent to your plight.

The Shieldbearers of St.Elcga?

That's the one. They're arguably a moral order. My PC simply is not.

Got around to giving it a first short try today. I haven't really made it past the first few dialogues and the first kill so far. Those however I experienced 3-4 times. ^^ As usual in such games I spend the first few hours in the character creator, and this one is really nice with all the race and  background options. I have one problem, though, and it's one that I had with quite a few RPGs over the years - the character portraits.

This irritated me in Shadowrun, and even more in Divinity: OS - I create a character who looks like I want him to, and then find that there's simply no character portrait that really fits (or at all). In PoE again I ended up changing features and colours until the character fit the portrait that came closest to what I originally intended. I can't enjoy playing the game otherwise. This was handled so much better imo in the DA games, or of the recent oldschool games Wasteland 2.

Buuuut... from what I saw and hear about it I suspect I will have fun...!  ^_^

Oh I didn't realise those soul memory things were actually backer-created. That's pretty cool. To be honest, when I first encountered that mechanic, I was wondering whether it'd be similar to Divinity II's mindreading mechanics. I guess not. But I'd imagine for those backers, it'd be awesome to see that their creations made it into the game.

I was wondering if this is how COle feels.  All the time. :D

I got my stronghold, so I built some stuff and headed back to that town with an inn, slept there, unloaded all the gear in my stash for a pile of money, slept, and returned to see my building finished.

Then basically spent 5 days (game time, of course :P) sleeping and finishing parts of the stronghold.

And yeah, those portraits are annoying.

I think I recreated my character 6-7 times. Having tremendous fun with ranger with a wolf companion. (yeah, i know it is considered a weak class).

Got my first pet ingame and now I have a wolf and a black hound following me. The little animal companions are driving me insane. It is such a small and unnecessary feature but I love it so much.

LOL Ah, worthwhile morale ambiguity in character creation... it's like I'm greeting an old friend I haven't seen in a whole.

For what it is worth, you can upload custom images for that. Not sure of the exact steps involved, but I'd bet money our friend Google does. Then just do a Google Image search for whatever you want and you now have the world as your oyster.

My pet was a Miniature Giant Space Pig. It's totally useless, but I think I might tear up if it ever winds up dying for whatever reason. :)

Aha, the pig! Yes, Ive got it, as well as obsidian wurm (which is like pseudodragon), and recently acquired the dog. And I keep on switching them all the time now. Apparently there are a lot of them scattered thoughout the game. And there are cats, everything is better with cats. :D

I dont think they die though, the are not noticed by the enemies and spells dont touch them. They seem to be just for fun. Totally useless but soooo adorable.

Yup, I gave my moon godlike a space pig as well. It was a perfect pairing.

You have to find custom potraits with POE. The character model is basically superflous in that regard.

Preorder bonus is a noncombat pet, a "miniature giant space piglet"

Clearly a callback to Boo, the miniature giant space hamster from Baldur's Gate

Yeah when I opened my inventory and saw the pig, all I could think about was Boo. I guess now it'd have to be 'Piglets and druids everywhere, rejoice!"

Btw, I have a question. Anyone got far enough with their godlikes, especially the less accepted ones? Does the world react to them? I've never gotten past the first map with mine, but so far no reactivity. I would like to know if they are worth playing for reactions alone.

I'm playing a Nature Godlike and haven't gotten too far, but so far nothing. I've also talked to others who say the Godlikes are mostly ignored, despite the lore stating they aren't usually trusted.

How about:

You must gather your party before venturing forth.

Anyway, is the memorial tribute to real people? It can be found in Woodend plains. Just wondering if its backers who died or...?

Being an Aedyran doesn't exactly  help the situation when you meet Aloth (they recognize you as such)

Yeah, because you read the almanac. Storytelling wise, that's kind of a cheat code, no?

It's funny, because the most info I got from the setting was from speaking to Durance the priest of R'hllor Magran. For someone who seems taciturn at first, he's very verbose about history and religion even if he's an ass about it at the best of times. I like him. The game's narration pretty much doesn't tell you anything however. I feel Dragon Age: Origins managed to setup the setting far better, at least from what I have seen so far.

I guess my point was that while you the player didn't know, and therefore had to ask to understand the lore of the land, doesn't mean that your character would need to ask to get that same information since they have the high intelligence and lore stats. You can reasonably assume they would know, but the disconnect between player and character knowledge makes that difficult to easily convey the knowledge without making your character seem like they have no idea bout the world they live in.

That gets very tricky to pull off without having the player being the only one not understanding what's going on in a conversation between their character and someone else.
