Katati buff from patch?

I'm definitely generating guard on hit, none of my passives mention this as a bonus nor am I ising any abilities that have this effect. I am using the sulevin which doesn't have this effect so I'm guessing this has come from the patch. Has anyone noticed anything else different?

The guard generation isn't very high but it's nice :) it's not AW crazy.

Any buff is welcome. I was just hoping for more ranged resistance, but I guess I can just remedy that by promoting rogues.

If I keep attacking stuff I'll get guard - so does this mean whirlwind is now an awesome ability for guard generation?

Prepare for the katari takeover.  I am interested to see how much this change will impact the kit.

 

Probably very little. It is still a very skill & gear intensive kit. Though I am glad they buffed it, it isn't a going to change much given most people have trivially small hp pools, and guard is worth even less (10% of total HP).

 

I look forward to testing it myself once the PC is patch is out.

Some less than others. Keeper almost none at all. Yes the base for guard is 25%, and I misremembered. Still not much, as typical level 20 katari have sub 1k health, so less than 250 hp worth of guard-- and that is at max. It is so underwhelming compared to how OP barrier is in MP.

 

Altbouli's still wrong about promotes, as he like the masses doesn't understand just how little the promotes matter in comparison to skill build and gear because the combat mechanics are so abstract. Only at the very extremes do promotes matter, and that's long after thousands of perilous runs have already been completed.

You've had a very predictable comprehension failure due to your own unconscious incompetence:

The individual does not understand or know how to do something and does not necessarily recognize the deficit. They may deny the usefulness of the skill.

Let me spell it out for you. Skill, build and gear contribute far more than promotes do, and in practice ever will. No amount of achieve-able promotes will save you from incompetent play, bad builds, or terrible gear. Conversely, only once effective skill, builds, and gear are discovered, will wins come with time and promotes happen.

No I comprehended it just fine, there is no skill in this game and Promotions are arguablly the single most important factor to progress. You still havent answered my question btw

Looool as if were done just because you say so. For all your bragging about soloing Perilous with a lvl 4 Katari and being a beast your too scared to reveal your stats because you know what we all know. Without your redicilous number of ptomotions you would still be rage-quitting threatning games like you did when you played with Penguin. Now who's the one in denial?

IMHO, it is circumstantial. Number of promotions are NOT directly related to scoring or number of kills in a full 4 player game of more or less competent players. Hosting is the biggest crutch here. But for solo with non-barrier classes and generally for survival in sticky situations on perilous aka carrying and generally unexpected turn of events, they are very much important IMHO.

 

I have very few promotions but I can solo reaver (with Slayer axe, I don't have Sulevin) to zone 4 on gold vs demons. I usually die somewhere on zone 4 just because I run out of healing/spirit resistance potions or mess up due to inexperience and lack of patience as I tend to lose focus after about 15-20 minutes of playing time. Of course, having 100 constitution/willpower/cunning would just make it rather trivial considering the stats and how much experience is needed to get that many promotions. But why would anybody want to trivialize the game?

All the players who claim that the game is too easy are the ones who have 100's of promotions. Do you really think someone would be able to solo with a lvl 4 Katari if they had no promotions? Just the damage resistance is significant enough to make Perilous a breeze even when your pugging with players who are incompetent. To say skill is more important in this game is stupid, there is no skill in this game - you dont even have to aim for most abilities for goodness sake. Put Drasca as a lvl 20 Katari with the same equipment he currently has but with no promotions and asking him to solo Perilous and I bet he wouldbt even go past the first zone

I'm not sure if it's been said yet but the katari health was buffed by 450 points last I checked, which doesn't vastly improve the amount of guard you can generate but... it's something.
