... Put Drasca as a lvl 20 Katari with the same equipment he currently has but with no promotions and asking him to solo Perilous and I bet he wouldbt even go past the first zone
I'm not so sure about Drasca. In my personal limited experience, he is a very good player. Not very team-oriented but very good at least on host. He might just be able to do it, not sure.
... To say skill is more important in this game is stupid, there is no skill in this game - you dont even have to aim for most abilities for goodness sake. ...
Agree 150%, skill is not an issue as the game is difficult (mostly due to lack of decent cover, unlimited revival, medigel and rockets) but rather on the simple side. Some situational awareness for non-standard situations and experience for handling standard situations are somewhat needed, no more than that. Barrier classes don't need even that, just don't forget to cast the barrier and don't get stunlocked. A number of standard situations is very limited though unlike ME3 where there is way more complexity/options.
All the players who claim that the game is too easy are the ones who have 100's of promotions. ...
Sure thing. There are a few buts and ifs to it however. For example, the game is way easier when you have 3 ppl like that in the lobby. Also, for a casual guy like me, it is possible to leech off their high cunning with an archer to get insane number of criticals and zero cool down for long shot all the things. Also, it is possible to leech with elementalist to steal flashpoints. I'm sure there are some other less obvious ways. So, I can complain that playing with 3 highly promoted ppl in a lobby is way too easy. And not because they kill everything before you even have a look at it, not that like it is in ME3 playing on Krogan soldier RedJohn's host. At least up until he runs out of thermal clips.
I'd adjusted my play style with Katari, now I'll have to see what this buff is all about. Wondering if it will allow me to be a bit more daring. =)
I'm not sure if it's been said yet but the katari health was buffed by 450 points last I checked, which doesn't vastly improve the amount of guard you can generate but... it's something.
Good to have numbers. I did not have access to the Patch at the time of that post. That's worth roughly about 112 hp worth of guard.

I don't know if you were present while I was playing as a level 1 Katari during Perilous runs just for fun. I did less damage, but successfully used the skills available to me, which include cover, the strafe button, timing, watching for weapon animations, managing enemy aggro, ambush, and forcing enemy attacks to miss by baiting them with space-control step-movement. That's all before charging bull, attack cancels and block and slash are factored in.
I wouldn't even get hit outside of unavoidable damage (which is to say, almost all damage due to how the game physics + targetting work) due to all of the above plus combat roll and sulevin's blade's PotA, and gear provides a ridiculous amount of stats. I'd be nerfed more without HoK, but with my same equipment? Easy. Am I guaranteed to win every perilous match? No, but I'd never play solo as a level 20, and I'd win pretty quickly.
Melee wouldn't hit me unless I allowed them (Kite via CB+CR, if not flattened outright). Archers would get ambushed. Wraiths are HoK food, and their projectiles still avoidable. Phys immune targets have their behavior quirks that make them easy. Horrors are still nasty but manageable (flatten them). Shield guys can be triggered to fail their charge via kiting and counterattacked. Despair Demons can be two-shot, or subject to KD/PS stun, while their ice beams dodged into cover and ice mines jumped. Dagger rogues flattened.
DC's ambush is the most difficult to avoid, but his damage is still reduced via combat roll and Spirit Resist Tonic. His terror + KD can be CR'd out of. RTC is a test of patience, since I don't do the TTD build. ESS would be nice against him instead of PS though.
That addresses most of the major threats off the top of my head. Oh... Druffalo are still difficult without firewall. Druffalo OP. Doable but difficult. Would rather fight the DC or the RTC than the Druffalo.

You've gone to the trouble of revealing all of this in such detail yet still refuse to disclose your stats.....hmmm interesting! I only offered you a lvl 20 to be nice but if soloing with a lvl20 is beneath you, your welcome to try any lvl that you wantGood to have numbers. You can prove me wrong and accept my challenge or you can admit you were wrong now and appologise, your choice
Are you offering to purchase me a fresh copy of DAI on origin? If so, I'll take that offer.
Are you offering to purchase me a fresh copy of DAI on origin? If so, I'll take that offer.
Are you telling me that you cant make multiple accounts on Origin like you could in ME3?
I honestly didn't know that was a thing people did.
Demonstrate that it works and it is legal to do so. Otherwise, my understanding was one origin account one game.
No idea how they did it but I seem to recall some PC players talking about multiple ME3 accounts.I honestly didn't know that was a thing people did.

Well I'm certainly not going to buy a second copy. I think they just had extra copies. If you want to see me do a new manifest, feel free to purchase me a fresh copy, otherwise it is just talk.

I didn’t read the whole discussion, but what was the challenge-to solo something with fresh account?
I did that this weekend and anything above Routine is mission impossible. That was before Katari buff, though.

Yeah he has played down the importance of having high stats from promotions and said that skill and gear is far more important. I argued that there is no skill in this game and that high stats from promoting is arguably the single biggest factor to progressing (Looking at it from an individual perspective). I then asked him to prove me wrong with evidence - ge says he can solo with Perilous with a lvl 4 so ge should be able to do it with a lvl 20 with no promotionsI didn’t read the whole discussion, but what was the challenge-to solo something with fresh account?

First one Origin account -one game.I have Origin on my personal rig and another on family computer.
Second about matter of skill, gear and promotions.
Truth is like always somewhere in between.Imo,the most important is player, then gear and promotions are last.
Little edit.
About soloing Perilous with Lv 4 Katari.
I played with Drasca few times and can say he is an excellent DAMP player,but...
Kjubaran is the best Katari player I have ever played with and he had problems to solo Perilous with lv 20 Katari, monster Cunning and ubergear. So to make it with lv 4?
If Drasca is able to to it,I would like to be like him when grow up ![]()
Soooo back on topic, the Katari's Guard generation is pretty nifty. It does help with his survivability.
Also, it appears the amount of Guard you generate is proportional to the damage you deal. Because when smacking an already knocked-down foe with Mighty Blow I was generating tons of Guard, vs. just hitting him with an auto-attack would not generate as much Guard.

Lol they're misquoting me and taking it out of context. I don't have the cunning Kju has, but I do have ubergear as well (though not max, as there's a few improvements I'd like...). I can solo Perilous, but I usually do so because A) I'm waiting for someone to join or
I have to clean up for my allies who died.
I can solo perilous on an Ele at low level all the way to completion due to firewall with ring means constant firewall, or at least prior to this current patch. Is more challenging.
I can play and succeed Perilous to completion as a level 1 Katari in a team environment without barrier, though I won't be killing nearly as fast.
I can solo Perilous as low level Katari (1+), though I have not done so to completion, enough to quickly gain levels and progress just as quickly.
I am not as Solo-obessed Kju is. I added him on friends list once, but I've never seen him online (he's probably invisible), or a game invite from him so I've never played alongside him (though I'd like to).
I have shown video of me playing both as Katari and as Reaver, both glass cannon kits that live on a thread, demonstrating I can play and win regularly. These videos are not comprehensive and do not cover every situation, but they're demonstrative that 2H warriors can be successful, and give a taste of the playstyle involved.

I think it is actually per hit rather than damage based. MB hits multiple targets. However, I appreciate anyone willing to test for certain all the situations involved. I'm usually too busy avoiding damage and watching the enemy attack animations to notice whether I have guard (and health) or not.

Tbh,I'm little sorry I involved myself into this discussion at all,but what is done is done,I guess.
