Is this a real thing, or are people using their imaginations?

It's a real thing, just not on the PC (yet).

Ah. Now the other post I read about fixed mosaic pieces also makes sense.

People had been complaining about how easy it all was
This improves gameplay in my opinion.
Oh really?
I'd say with an average level team (which is now around levels 7-14) on threatening wipes have been at about a 50% or more rate for me over the last while with camping. Without camping and that choke point I'd knock that down by A LOT.
It also seems to me that they have been fiddling with the bosses as well. This past weekend DC was back to his normal level of difficulty. He was fearing the team and then popping up again before fear wore off.
The RTC and red templars had already taken over top sport in difficulty.
People will adapt some way but success rates for the 'non pros' will just plummet to almost nothing. The way close matches fail is when one person goes down, then others go down trying to raise them.
This in my mind is a poor move by BioWare unless the make other adjustments. The font room camping is nothing like FBWGG in which you could not actually be hit by the enemy if played correct.
My prediction out of this move? Get ready for double the number of Arcane warriors to show up, you won't be able to get away from them.

Yeah the afk people will drive me nuts on this one. Just another way in which to have to leave games.

There was a choice and now there's less choice, so I don't like it.
There's also a matter of combat mobility and player learning: stages 1-4 teach players to either CC/alpha groups of enemies or to lure them off to defensible locations. And in stage 5 enemies trickle few at a time from several vectors, so preferable strategies is either ME3MP-style mobile play or using some room (usually font one) as the line for holding. That mobile play is not taught by the game in stages 1-4. Considering how many variants of stage 5 there are I don't expect average PUG to succeed in this now mandatory mobile play, as they/us won't learn where to hold and when to fall back and where to fall back to. Or rather that learning all this is too much of a bother for "non-pro". Note that average PUG does not have voice comms or doesn't listen to them.

This is true and was true also in MEMP.
Reviving under a scrum of foes is asking for trouble both for the reviver and the revived who can quickly go straight back down again.
It is a matter of learning but unless I can 'pull' the enemies away from the person who can crawl the other way, I'm not going in there...
Given recent history, I'm 99% sure you'll still spawn in the room.

In the room with door closed unable to kill yourself in case your team on the other side of the door wipes, making it so that unless you quit the game your teammates won't get rewards for their valiant effort?

Yeah, except in ME we had couple of tricks to help ourselves, like using medi-gel right before reviving, using missile launchers to clear the area, using cover(cough cough) and if someone died, enemies didn´t grow stronger. DA reviving is just far more dangerous.

But I really like the idea of crawling, no matter how humiliating it looks. The times I wished I could crawl away from turret....

Word from one of the BioWare devs on Twitter is:
"It will load you in just outside the door into zone 5."

I agree that it gives us a good reason to revive team mates, which is better than everyone looking after themselves..but some people who just run out and get downed repeatedly can't be helped.
I had a great cycle going with the DC the other day where I would hit him with my katari, charge past him and drag him away from teammates interrupting his stun with my grapple chain before he could finish the attack. With the katari running and gunning on the offensive is the only way to survive, so when the two we left fighting the adds went down over and over we were in trouble, I went down trying to revive the last guy with only a sliver of the bosses health left..

This is very amusing.
Reminds me of the back passage being added on Firebase White.
Good times
the firebase glacier room of shame would be a better comparison, the change to firebase white was almost universally appreciated. You have to remember that grabbing geths was the real exploit to the FBW camp and pyros were made to heavy to lift fairly early on
