Hilarious Zone 5 antics!

Me and another player run to the flag, try to plant, and it says "team must be in zone to plant" or something.  So me and the other player spam "Over here!".

Mean while the other two are in the font room spamming "Over here!".

There is literally a 2 minute "over here!" battle, with attempted flag plantings with message, until their wills crumble, and they finally come over.  Katari master-race then crushes all  B) Go eventual team-work!

I'm all for making the game more challenging... but there is huge strategy to having a choke point. Tank + AOE = win. Also, strategy to saving the healing font for when it's truly needed. (Always laughed at the idiots who just push it regardless of group-wide health) Guess it doesn't matter now?

On the subject of requiring the full party to be present to plant the flag: Perhaps when touching the flag, it could port everyone to it, just like when opening the door. This could avoid the confusion and/or stop afk'ers from stymying the flow of battle for the rest of the group.

I played my first game since the patch, katari was doing great steamrolling everything in threatening. Zone 5 three players stood in the font room and I had to explain why we all had to plant the flag. Eventually we did, and I suggested we find a nearby room but the assassin and archer went down in the open somewhere I think. I honestly didn't know where they had gone till they bled out..oops.

The guard on hit really helps. He is still a hit and run guy, unless you use line in the sand(which I don't).

Wait, the Katari has Line In The Sand? When did this happen?

over a 100 will power mid range cunning barely any con. Drink potion, solo bosses on sin. Nothing changed. Now if they played around with stealth that's another issue.

Anyway won't be back till new content.

This is retarded. Now pugs are even harder to carry through wave 5.

Expect more losses just because of one stupid douche in the party who ruins it for everyone.

I appreciate the 5/5 closed room thing. It is a substantial change, and any change at this poin can make the game somewhat different/fresher, besides it gives us the impression Bioware still wants to rescue this game out of its current worrying state.
Also I like that now we can see which/how many characters use a certain item on the inventory. It is minor feature that should be there since day one, but better late than never.

Certainly makes zone 5 feel quite different.

I think it's a really good change.

Maybe, we'll see if quick match more regularly drops you into Tevinter Ruins if more people open lobbies for it...

I disagree and think it was a bad decision. Instead of making the game different/fresher it will punish new and casual gamers pretty bad. I remember that when I was starting out and had crappy gear even routine was hard to beat using this tactic. If Bioware denied us this tactic back then I would´ve quit the game.

Now I feel you need to have barrier on your team or HoK items, and not everyone has been blessed by RNGesus. Not to mention that the coordination in pugs leaves something to be desired so I´ll see many failed games in the future.

If Bioware wants to add something fresh and the addition of other factions is still in the "distant" future then why not add a higher difficulty?

Not sure how to feel about this one. I prefer not fighting in the room, but I pretty much only pug and that was pretty much the only way there was any coordination. Also, many don't use voice and even have it muted, so no way to communicate that everyone needs to be at flag. Teleport when one plants would at least solve that.

I really can't imagine how I can survive Zone 5 Perilous playing public games as the Archer.

Ugh, this is such a terrible decision.  1.) As people have already mentioned, there is strategy involved in using the font room. 2.) matches will be much harder to complete for newer players.  I predict this is going to further tank the already tanking number of people who actually bother to fire up mp.

If they didn't want us using our surroundings to our advantage why isn't every level just a box with nothing in it?

I've seen RTC get stuck beside stairs or behind the red lyrium which made for EZ mode kills, they going to remove all stairs from maps?

Playing a few perilous games with friends playing any DPS class like the archer or necro I just crap with this change, everything goes for you and you can't get far enough away for long shot to be effective. It was a nice thought but don't force a play style on people. If people want to create a choke point then let them, seeing as how OP ranged units are in this game anyway. should have just brought out a harder difficulty.

So pretty much added a new way to troll people.......

Yup, it is great isn't it. A new way to troll offered by the devs themselves.

I couldn't agree more with the bolded part.  This seems like a really strange thing to implement.  Choke points ARE a strategy, and so WAS saving the healing font for when it was actually needed.

When my friend told me there was a patch, I was so excited!  After shelving the game due to boredom, I was picturing new weapons, maps, enemy types.  I mean, of ALL the things that could have been introduced to the game to reduce stagnation, THIS is one of the things we got.  Like WTF?

I really can't understand the rationale.

I don't know about stairs but those stupid rubble mounds on Elvin Ruins can go. Takes freakin' forever to climb them.
