Mixed feelings. Many mixed feelings.

 

On the one hand; the Avvar are a very interesting culture and I look forward to learning more about them, it's a cool focus for DLC.

 

On the other; the Avvar means we're staying in Southern Ferelden... again. This also just sounds very... hmmmm, unimportant? It sounds like fluff. I've mentioned that one of my biggest gripes with the game was the absurd number of dangling plot threads, cliffhangers, and unresolved questions. I don't think we'll be getting any resolution in Avvar DLC :/

This is a perfect description of how I feel right now. Bioware is the hand that throws the brick inside.

 

 

Also, this smells of Flemeth so much, how can you say it's not related to Solas? Wasn't Flemeth part of the alamarri tribe? the avvars are alamarri...

Groundbreaking, no. But all the same (assuming this is even real) Avvar DLC, while cool-sounding, just seems rather arbitrary. I'll wait and see what it's all about before I get too pessimistic though.

Good point, but on the other hand, the first post-release story DLC for DA2 was Legacy. Anyhow, hopefully Inquisition will get several DLC stories, so there's room for both "fluff" and the more plot-critical things.

On a side note: I am excited about the Avvar thing. I always found the tribal stuff very intriguing, and I would have chosen Sky Watcher over "I am so not Qun"-Bull any day of the week.

 

P.S.: I don't hate Bull, I hate that he's unhateable. Plus we already had an awesome Qunari.

Wow out of all the directions I thought they could go with this DLC this is the last thing I imagined...unless of course it ends up being a Wolf Hunt Equivalent.  But seriously, the Dwarves and lingeirng plot lines, Tevinter, Val Royeux, and Kirkwall and they give us the Avarr?

The only thing that makes me think this has nothing/little to do with Solas is the fact that it involves the Avvar, aren’t they mainly based in the more inhospitable parts of Ferelden/Frostbacks?

It's weird that the hefty download hit for everyone at the same time. Also, I don't recall past DLCs downloading before you paid for them. I wonder if this is a smaller thing, set apart from the DLCs that XBone will be getting first? Or maybe it'll just "unlock" first for those players.

They seem quite "open world" ish to me.  I mean the first talks about shards, the second sounds like a "do various fetch quests until the Dalish Avvar like you" type thing, the 3rd sounds like collecting codex entries.

PC players are still waiting for the update.  I imagine if the dev’s are going to be talking about the DLC in the MP livestream this week they will enlighten us to how the timed exclusivity thing on Xbone is going to work. I imagine Xbone/360 may get it a day or two ahead of everyone else but I can’t see them delaying it for too long on the other systems.

Not necessarilly.  There was Avvar stuff in Mark of the Assassin (The Cult of the Sky stuff) and that was in Orlais.

If you're not trolling, you have my pity. We've seen little of the Avvars so far, so if they do it right, it'll be a rich discovery. But if you want to go back to ghasts, go right ahead, no one will make you purchase this

Speak for yourself. Many of us find the Avvars, their culture and their belief system interesting. I hope at some point that BioWare also develop the Clayne (if they still exist as an independent/un-assimilated people) and Chasind in order to further develop the humans of Thedas.

Honestly, I think the shards and avvars are such a good sign of this being all about Solas (Solasan shards) and Mythal (Tyrdda's leaf eared lover?). So excited.
