Haven't started actually playing it yet, but I loaded up a mid-game and post-game save and received identical prompts to complete the war table mission to unlock the area. Appears to be playable at any point.

Edit: the war table mission has a suggested level of 20.

I read that you have to at least be in Skyhold.

Sorry, should have been more precise. My mid-game save is level 19. I did not look at an early-game save.

So Jaws of Hakkon is a zone and associated quests and it relates to the Avvar. Does it have new armor sets or crafting materials for that zone? Is there any content that affects the main quest line?

It'll depend on the more story related area and content and length.

 

I haven't seen any of that so far. Just wandering a zone. And Scout Harding. They knows we loves the Harding.

 

 

EDIT: $15 is ridiculous for any one-shot DLC anyway. It was for Omega. It only wasn't for Citadel because of the Party and Arena. I expect several (not 3-4) missions if Mass Effect and at least 1 really really solid (and longer than a single major story mission) quest/questline in Dragon Age, for that price. We'll see if Hakkon is that. So far, I'm not seeing it. I see a zone. And misc mobs. And resource nodes.

It certainly does. Looks more like $5, $10 at very most, if that's the case.

The Jaws of Hakkon appear to be a hostile Avvar sect.  From what I've been able to glean, I believe in the intro scene mention is made of possible ancient armor and loot, at least

New armor sets? Doesn't look like it. The "new" armor and weapon schematics look to all be identical to other sets/items, but some of them are tier 4. You can craft companion-specific items(like Dread and Cole's hat) after buying the schematics but they're still companion specific. New crafting materials? Yes, they're tier 4. An effect on the main quest? Highly doubtful since it can be played after the main quest.

I am trying to avoid spoilers here. Can you access this DLC while in Haven or is it when you reach Skyhold?

 

After Syhold, and the recommended level is 20+ so taking it on before you even get to Skyhold would just be suicide.

I agree with you on the price. I'm not paying that.  For naked Harding maybe.  Maybe.

 

Unless there are more SHARDS.  We have got to have shards.  It's like throwing razors into my undies and twerking like a maniac.  My second fave thing right after picking up five hundred thousand effen'shards.

 

Oh - and empty vast regions.  Need those.  And no banter.  Wait...  is it still remain motionless for 30 minutes for banter to fire?  Because that was the coolest fix ever.

About the only way I'd be tempted to buy this is if its story heavy with interesting lore and interesting quests and interesting choices to make.

 

 

Everything that I'm seeing and reading makes it seem like this is simply another zone that is pretty looking, but its filled with the same brainless drivel that clutters up so much of the zones in Inquisition. Hopefully I'm wrong on that impression but this whole thing seems really strange just showing up out of nowhere.
