Thanks for making us wait two whole months, EA. Dont pull this with the remaining DLC, please.

Darrah said in a Twitter post that Black Emporium would be free!
As should be expected really, since the first one was a free bonus DLC regardless of the version you got.

Any word on when we'll get the Black Emporium?
Finally had a solid weekend to invest in it.
Only 1 run so far, with my Human Male SnS, but will defo be running this multiple times.
I gotta say, i got about 14 odd hours out of it, so price wise I can justify it more so considering the amount of lore and exploration and overall fun to be had in this.
Hissing Waste is still my fave map, but the Basin comes real close to dethroning it. Its just so pretty and it varies so wonderfully with swamps and ice walls and the whole shebang.

Nice to have the difficulty amped up, though Despair Demons remain the uber cunts that they are.
And the Avvar, bloody hell, I love their entire lore and history.
New loot, nice. I was decked out like a boss.
All in all great work Bioware, more of the same please, but maybe even more awesome?

In the beginning of May according to M. Darrah's Twitter post (not 100% confirmed though, but "expected")
Is there a dragon to fight in this DLC?
Is there a dragon to fight in this DLC?
There sure is.
Has anyone posted an image of Vitaar of the Dragon Hunter for Qunari Inquisitors (in lieu of the helm)?
Still curious about this one!
Thanks, Bunny! That looks much better than Arishok's Vitaar.

I love this DLC too! Especially when
The sceneries are so stunning that I'm taking oversized screenshots like crazy. ![]()

I have nothing but praise for this DLC. The main quest is well done, the side quests were interesting. Love the scenery and the atmosphere. The map was manageable size with plenty of new content. The lore is amazing. Finally met some challenge fighting on nightmare.
All in all - I am a happy customer and consider this purchase a money well spent.
Dude Jaws of Hakkon sucked majorly. So many things wrong with this DLC, where to begin...
and yes I know I'm late to the party.
1. Timed Exclusive. Don't even have to go into this.
2. Releasing the DLC around the same time as Witcher 3. Smart.
3. Overpriced. $15 for the amount of content in this DLC is absolutely absurd.
4. More MMO style exploration and pointless sidequesting. Yes I love side content, but perhaps the biggest criticism aimed towards DA:I, is the sheer lack of Main Story content compared to Side Story. It's like a 95/5 ratio. This is why I made a thread awhile ago, asking if Bioware devs were even listening to criticism.
5. Releasing the DLC without warning on Xbone. Yeah can you not do that and give us a heads up when you're just gonna drop a DLC on us? I know this may sound crazy....but, some of us like to adjust our plans for the day a DLC to a game we really enjoy gets released. I'm sure a lot of us, myself included, are busy as it is with RL.
"Hurr don't like it don't buy it." Yeah I'm not stupid, but that's beside the point. Whether it was Bioware or EA's decision to release this DLC, as a timed exclusive, and at $15, I hope something like this isn't repeated again. Bioware has for a while now, been pretty good with DLCs, Sometimes they've been amazing. This DLC was pretty crappy start.

But the big question is, are you as tired of the quests as you are of that damned dog barking all the mother loving time?!
Their are only 2 things about this DLC I don't like. 1) The high difficulty on easy/normal. 2)The fact I had no problems with graphics in game but the DLC has slowdown and tearing. Fortunately reloading takes care of the tearing. So far.
Price wise not to bad considering Far Cry 3 for 360 had less content for $9.00.
My first Inquisitor will get over 200 hours easy with this DLC. Am at 197 now.
All in all a good DLC.
Any pictures of the warrior version of the armor? I haven't been able to find any pictures.
The crafting versions of Ameridan's armor are all identical to the light version . The true Dragon Hunter armor that you get from the storyline itself is mage only. The neat part though about the schematics is that they're not restricted to the Inquisitor. I decked out all my companions in American's armor tinted with Obsidian, Everknit Wool and Canine leather so they look like Inquisition Generals. ![]()

As for the DLC itself, here my take:
- Overall I enjoyed it very much. I got about 10-20 hours out of it, the new armor and weapon skins etc. Totally worth the price.
Pros:
- The whole zone, although isolated from the rest of the game story wise, has a very compelling plot and feels worthy of the Inquisitor's attention. A great dlc for lore buffs, with possible insights and hints into the nature of spirits and even gods in general, due to unique Avvar perspective, culture and knowledge (which has remained intact from ancient days unlike lowlander/elven civilizations).
- Side quest design was better and more immersive. A lot of slay the beast side quests mixed in with find/rescue missions "for science!" or "for influence/justice!" Think Indiana Jones for the main/university quests. For the Avvar quests, think Dalish Camp from DAO/DA2/DA:I, but Conan/Hyborean Age style (I wouldn't say Skyrim-like, because honestly the Avvar culture and feel is presented much better in the few quests given then anything in Skyrim about the Nords).
- Probably the most stunning map design in the game and uses terrain and height to its fullest. The map design reminded me of a 3D version of the Sword Coast maps from BG1, set in a dawn/dusk time of day. Really pretty ad fun (mostly, more on that later) to explore.
- The camp and "map domination" in JoH shows improvement. Not only are camps more unique and meaty in this map, but actually serve purposes such as creating important shortcuts and workarounds. There's still room for improvement, but it definitely has a Crestwood/Emprise/Hinterlands feel when it comes to Inquisition influence on the ground, which is a good thing (now if we could get closer to the pre-alpha Crestwood in new/existing via DLC that would be great).
- The difficulty on Nightmare versus an optimally geared party was perfect. It gave me a run for my money the first few hours. JoH's difficulty is what I think was missing from the main game to keep people's attention. Harder fights means less boredom in combat/exploration, since you never know what may be able to kill you around the corner (like in BG), instead of yawning your way through fights that are seen more as more of a delay than a challenge.
- Cool new armors, weapons, materials and schematics that can be used by all party members. Thank you. ![]()
Cons:
- Although the quests were better overall, for those who didn't like shard collection etc. there's more of that. Not only that, but Shard collecting is more difficult due to terrain and results in a lot more backtracking compared to other maps. So they do feel a lot more like a "fetch this" rather than map markers that help you explore unexplored/overlooked portions of the map. There is a purpose though for the new shards.
- Like in BG1, complicated and detailed terrain can result in longer walks then you intend. There's a lot of topography in between point A and B, which can be confusing and irritating the first time around. Like when you find your "shortcut" to point B is actually a dead end, then you end up backtracking and going up a hill only to find out you missed a ramp and your shortcut would have worked.
- Although camps are more fleshed out, change the scenery and add more functionality to the map, they could still use a bit more functionality and NPCs.
- After JoH is completed the rest of the game is a bit too easy and underwhelming difficulty wise. It would be nice to have a post-main plot completion DLC that ups the difficulty of maps by adding a new threat to them, that's on par with JoH or harder.
- Many of the new schematics have underwhelming material use and/or don't allows mods except for weapon runes, which can make the new armor and weapons less effective than stuff we currently have (I haven't crushed the numbers though).
Again, I really enjoyed this DLC. Started playing Pillars of Eternity right after I completed it which I'm enjoying too (its a great game and feels like Baldur's Gate 1.5). However, it makes me appreciate how far RPGs have come in many respects. I have actually found it amusing how much praise PoE has been getting from the same people who "hate" Bioware games these days and DA:I, only to find myself playing an old school RPG full of fetch quests, material gathering, exploration etc. and non-plot related side quests (just like most/all CRPGs including the BG/Fallout series). I guess all is forgiven when you have isometric view, replace live action cutscenes with eloquently voiced and/or written text descriptions and have AD&D-like mechanics. Nostalgia is a powerful thing. ![]()
That said, I highly recommend Pillars of Eternity too.
Hi KillTheLastRomantic,
As one of the writers on the DLC, I wanted to say Jaws of Hakkon was created entirely after the team finished making Dragon Age: Inquisition. People can like it or not (I hope they do!) but I wanted to clear that misconception.
Thanks,
SylvF
(Also I don't normally post here - I worry about inadvertently derailing discussions - so this will probably be my only post on the matter.)
Just to say personally I loved it. I loved the engaging story that brought you through the game. I loved it from beginning to end.

15.00?!
Why is this one 15.00. What was added ? Hair....I hope it was more hairstyles .

I would love if an exclusively post-ending DLC, instead of adding an open world zone, instead has a significantly sized 1-2 story quests (by which I mean Abyss/Wicked/etc, you know what I mean), and during and/or after it, upgrades a lot of the existing zones (new systems? new meaty quests?). Not talking total overhaul (nah), but just some interesting things to do (NOT of 'sidequest' type, but still with cutscenes and maybe added content to the less-used corners of the zone maps).

This is a really terrific idea. It'd save Bioware the trouble of having to create entirely new maps and would free up time and resources to exclusively focus on the story. Then again, one complaint of past DA:O DLCs is that they simply reused maps (Lelian'a's Song, Witch Hunt), so this might actually be an unpopular idea on the second thought. Honestly the blatant map reuse did irk me in the DAO DLCs but I think it'd work better in Inquistion since those areas are actively controlled by your organization after you've established camps/fortresses.
After playing it I have to say I really enjoyed it and bioware delivered. The new area was vast and looked great and the story was really interesting. My only two cons were:
-The party banter still acts like you haven't beaten the game when you have. It's a small con and luckily the main story does act like you beat it but shame that the companions don't.
- The gear, while it looks better isn't necessarily better. Mainly because the crafted ones don't have any sockets for arms and legs so the armor and damage rating on the T4 weapons and armor is greater but your missing out on other stat bonuses (mainly the ones that increase attributes) so at the end I was like nah I rather stick to what I have than take a 18 point dexterity and cunning hit.
The DLC though was great and worth the 15$ asking price and hope there's more to come.
Wow, finally it's fun again.
Just had a fight with a giant where I took more damage and had to use more health potions then during the final boss fight in DAI. And one of my companions actually died during my first fade rift fight! He died!
I actally had to start managing my companions.
The terrible pacing, under leveled enemies and under leveled loot is gone ;-)
Why, o why, couldn't they have done the whole game like this.
Darrah said in a Twitter post that Black Emporium would be free!
Clarification, it "should" be free.
Doesn't mean it "will" be free.
