I am using an assortment of mods covering a range of things from experience, loot and amulets to appearances, weapon and armor restrictions and everything is working perfectly and I was enjoying the game immensely, until patch 6 (I think?) so here's the story:
I started the game (as stated above) with a human mage PC got all the way to the Mountain Pass above what used to be Haven, had my conversation with Solas and ran straight into a white screen "blackout". You could hear the staff firing when depressing the mouse but absolutely nothing else functioned. The cure was to repair the game and update (still patch 5 at this point) and reload my now vanilla saved game, this got me to Skyhold where I reloaded my mods and continued.
Learning what I wished to do differently in the story before completion I started another game this time with an Elven Mage PC...enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, BANG! White-Out and can't get to Skyhold. Attempted the same repair to carry on and now I get this:
THIS SAVE DATA WAS CREATED WITH A NEWER VERSION
OF THE GAME. PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE LATESET PATCH
AND TRY AGAIN.
Went to Origins and got my "Dragon Age Inquisition is up to date" message and as of yesterday 04/20/2015 uninstalled, reinstalled & updated all with the same results and this is WITHOUT any mods just a "vanilla" version of the game.
Now "Riddle me this Batman" my Elven mage PC is 'Whited-Out" in Bioware Limbo, but under these exact same circumstances as of THIS morning I can still reload and play (mod-less) with my original Human Mage PC under whatever Patch is current as of 04/21/2015. I invested $70 and 155 hours for FRUSTRATION??? ....that wasn't the original plan!
