Do beards still float near the face or have they fixed them? I can't play as a beardless male character and until now the only acceptable looking beard was stubble. I don't want to install the game again and delete it after starting new game and seeing those ridiculous beards.

Hi there, PC user here.

I´ve created a post with this issue but perhaps this is the better place to report it. So I updated to Patch 6 yesterday and I´ve just installed the new DLC. I was trying some of my savegames after 2 months of not playing and I´ve had 5 crashes to desktop in a row, approximately 10 minutes after starting the game. I get a DirectX error. I´ve never had a CTD in DAI before. I get the following error message:

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application´s device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that shoud be investigated and fixed"). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780", Driver: 34788

^ This ^

is the same exact error message that I get (same gpu as well = GTX 780). I can no longer visit the war table without the game crashing with that error message. Sometimes it crashes immediately when the group is gathering around the table and sometimes it doesn't crash until I interact with the war table itself. The game is no longer playable as I cannot advance the story via the war table.

The steps I have taken are:

1) 'Repaired' the game.

2) Reinstalled all of the redistributables (DX, VC, etc.)

3) Clean reinstallation of the latest nvidia drivers (347.88)

My specs are as follows:

W8.1x64

I5 3570k OC 4.4

16 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 (XMP)

3 gig Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II OC

1 gig MSI GTX 650 (PhysX card)

Hardware or drivers ARE NOT the issue here. There is something fundamentally flawed with this game and Bioware needs to fix this completely once and for all. This has been plagueing the game since launch and they need  to release a DEFINITIVE fix for this asap.  I do however have a very bad feeling that this is unsolveable as the crashing gets worse and worse with each patch released.

Time to put this game on hold - again. And you really want folks buying the dlc do ya? I don't think so.  This game is the most unstable game out of almost 500 Steam and non-Steam games that I own.  I've never had this type of consistent/persistent crashing of ANY game - ever.

I'm having the same issue like some of the other players on PC. My game just gets stuck on the loading screen after trying to load a save, I didn't have this issue before patch 6. I've tried the repair game option and that didn't work, has a solution been found for this?

I've had the DirectX error too since the beginning. I've gotten used to constantly reloading the game. It happens at the War Table and during cutscenes but never during regular play exploring around the world. I think I read somewhere that it may be linked to overclocking.

I'm a big fan of Bioware. Or I was. Loved ME until the end (if you know what I mean...). I thought DAO was "meh" (Spoiler, in case you are playing DAI and, strangely, didn't play DAO: that another Warden appears out of nowhere to, really, just prevent the dragon from flying in the final battle was so forced as a solution that killed the game. Endings are really not one of Bioware's strengths - end of Spoiler); DA2 was bad, but I thought it had some positive points, like the fight mechanics, ability tree, conversation wheel etc. So I still thought Bioware could get it right on DAI. But so far, I don't think it's worth. I even have it on different PCs (yes, I'm that hopeful. Or sucker). Waiting for the promised Black Emporium, fixes, and I get a gigantic patch that introduces bugs and does not bring the Emporium as was promised.

I hope this is not like some bugs on ME3 (not a buggy game, to be fair), like Ash's marksman "power", when we received the message that the bug was simply not going to be fixed and we should be happy for it. In the end, we are not fans, we are paying customers. This kind of thing is not acceptable. There are bugs now on DOI; like the stuttering (really? after patch 6?); freezes on loading (that, apparently, take longer now); amulets disappearing; that I hope will be fixed. And not, like in ME3, proudly ignored. Because now it's not just "small" things.

Just being realistic. Skyrim didn't give me so much headache. And I'll be really disappointed if the Black Emporium appears as a payed DLC.

PC. Nvidia GTX770. Latest drivers. Win7 64 bits. blablabla...

And this only happened following the patch?

Yes, my focus bar was full when I quit the evening before. Logged in patch installed and when I started the game my focus bar was almost zero. Also I went to the EDL map and am getting the weird dwarf head morph issue as reported by others.

Hi Grimnash, the things that fixed this for me were as follows:

1) My GTX770 comes OC'd so I reset the GPU Clock to the base setting of 1046 (you can google yours) which fixed this issue completely for me.

2) Iwas also having sound issues that triggered this warning and as I have a dedicated SB Xfi sound card there was a conflict between the NVIDIA HD Audio Device drivers that Nvidia automatically enables when you update your drivers and the sound cards drivers.

Disabling the NVIDIA HD Audio drivers and reducing my clock speed stopped the Device Hung errors completely.

Can Bioware be a little more mod friendly. Ever since Patch 5 people have been struggling with mods. Even though the Mod Manager stop working since Patch 5 we were at least able to apply mods without it. Now since Patch 6 we aren't able to use mods at all. Are you still mod friendly, are you against mods now, or do you just not want to take the time to make it mod friendly? Because I love this game but there are a few minor things that I annoyed me. Like the stupid white leather caps or the infamous pajamas. . . always with those terrible white pajamas. . .

They still float near the face, which is really frustrating for me. I want to play a bearded Qunari, but I'm not going to go full-beard with something thats not attached to my face lol. Same thing with my Human, the only option I can choose is full stubble.

But to keep to topic, since downloading the DLC I am getting the driver crashes as the above have mentioned, which is slightly annoying because I deleted my only Inquisitor with which I completed the game with, so I have to re-level to even get to the DLC! >.<

Man. I went in here looking for a modding solution, and found out that this is like, the brokenest patch of all time.

What's going on, BW? Just roll back to patch 5 - none of the fixes from 6 are worthwhile (and modders have already fixed one or two of them anyway), especially for all the problems it's caused. I'm imagining your customer service employees have shifted to 24-hour workdays and are getting quadruple overtime right now. You're losing money to all that OT! Just roll the patch back! That way everyone can play their game, we can use mods, your hard working staff can go home and see their families and loved ones, and all is forgiven.

Would have done this myself already if the DLC didn't require patch 6. So. Dumb.

Yes, I cannot believe you can be a two handed elf warrior and you look like you cant even pick up a wooden sword let alone a two handed weapon plus armor.

@ Kendar Fleetfoot

Doesn't work for every setup.

There are a ton of threads about crashing in the EA Help board but no complete solution to the problem as it can't be truly fixed by playerside.

Also you shouldn't need to tinker with your hardware to play one damn game.

Imho they should just make DA:I truly modable and most of the problems would be fixed by the community in half a year or something and Bioware can focus on DLC in the meantime.

@CenturyCrow

I don't know if this is your problem, or if it's something else, but when you approach the doors between the Ballroom and the Vestibule, be very very careful as to which location it says you're entering. The action prompts for both locations show up on both sides (ie when you're in the Ballroom it will pop up the action to go to the Ballroom even though you're already there if you're not standing in the right exact place where the Vestibule one pops up). If you choose the room you're already in, the game sits in an endless loading loop.

I had this problem myself and the only fix is to make sure that you're clicking or pressing the button on the correct entrance, because both will pop up. If you can't get the right one to show up, you have to shuffle around or back up a few steps.

This is one of the most retarted bugs I've ever seen :P

And yes, the load screen isn't infinite. The game just goes a little bonkers when it's telling itself it needs to go to same location you already were. So it takes some time to figure it out or something :P

The Hair turns PLASTIC/LEGO STYLE AGAIN

It forces me to go settings and change Shared to ULTRA but it doent look good either. (In Patch 6, medium settings my character look Cartoonish)

The MSAA 2x and 4x are not working properly. I'm loosing FPS from 94 to 34 by using MSAA 4x. (52 FPS with MSAA 2x)

This is not working for me.

Issue: The Shared in Medium settings makes the Hair looks PLASTIC.

Issue: The MSAA 2x and 4x are making my game loose tons of FPS.

The Hair turns PLASTIC/LEGO STYLE again in Medium Settings. (It forces me to use go SHARED and use ULTRA, needs a FIX)

MSAA 2x 4x are not working either. (I go from 94 FPS to 34 FPS)

It was working FINE, the texture was amazing in "medium settings", not it looks cartoonish.

Please Fix this.

Same here.
