It does boost sales and allows more replays, I would think this is accidental. It would be nice if BW would address this but given their lack of transparency I doubt they will. If its deliberate its a ridiculous and short sighted decision.
It's their IP. Like how artists don't like it when you modify their art and repost it somewhere else. I guess. I don't know.
Also, mods cause fandom drama sometimes.
Ok, but why do we have a "Modding & Projects" section on the forum if BioWare dislikes it so much? 
Mods are what have kept me playing past games (DAO, DA2, Oblivion, and Skyrim) long after I would have put them aside if they were unmodded.

It's the mod manager creator who assumes it and hopes not, but no one's sure if it's an error or not. It seems like they are locking mods out, but most likely it's conflict or changes that affect the manager.
My game freezes with a nice black screen and the inquisiton symbol. Yay! Ah well, I've been bugfree for 5 patches. I was living on borrowed time.

That only happened to me when I tried to use mods.
First they patch item duping to prevent console players from having any fun in their single-player game, now they try to make modding impossible for PC players to keep us from enjoying our single-player game. Seriously, WTF are they thinking?

Does everything work fine if I update to the patch with a modded patch beforehand? Last time I updated to the newest patch the game wouldn't even load and I had to use 'repair' even though I had used a backup up 'clean' patch beforehand.

Lol yeah the patch 5 mod trick will fail with patch 6 and freeze your game. We are stuck for now and right with the new DLC out tomorrow too.
Anyone else unable to access Crestwood after downloading this patch?
I might have read you wrong but if you have games that are stuck and can't get the game to load and are out of options, using the 'repair' option in origin for the game should fix it.

That is what I said happened to me with patch 5. I refuse to repair.

Are you talking for when loading specific saves? Because there is a reason and fix for that. Everytime you add mods to an already modded patch, in the 'package' file, the version number increases (you can see it if you open the file with notepad, very simple. The number should be 7 with the latest patch?). If you edit the package file to increase the number manually, you will be able to play your modded saves. Increase the number until it works (for example I had to change my number to 10 for a save).

See my above post for the fix! Your games aren't broken, you just need to edit the package file. Make backups!
