So with each patch, I just do this again?

Since installing the patch I get the following message when I try to open my saved game (saved game dated 3/22/2015): "This save data was created with a newer version of the game. Please download the latest patch and try again."

 

When I click check for update it tells me that my game is up to date.

 

I also "repaired" the game - to no avail.

 

This seems to affect only games that were begun after patch 5 was installed.

 

I can still open an old game that was begun before patch 5.

 

I did have mods installed.

 

Weird.

Its because of the mods. In order to make the save work again, you will need to use the save editor to fix your save. Just load up your latest save and then resave it back out, then drop it back in your save folder and overwrite the original.

Yes, though eventually the official patch will get to the version number your save was playing with. So check to see if your save works without editing each time a new patch comes out.
