This game wants to sell itself as some kind of cop drama yet the pistols are basically peashooters which take 4-5 shots on enemies without armor. 

 

Don't think I've seen that in any show.

I have not played Hardline and I probably won't, but I feel like they were trying to appeal to multiple markets at the same time, just like what they did in Mass Effect 3.

That's because the real selling point to Hardline is the MP and people walk around with assault rifles, submachine guns, battle rifles and sniper rifles. If pistols were single shot kills, how would you suppose to balance automatic weapons, etc. without turning the game into a "everything dies instantly" mess?

 

Not that I particularily care about Hardline itself, for all I care everything can shoot nukes and rainbow farting unicorns, but weapon balance is a gameplay design decision, for good reasons.

Battlefield singleplayer is secondary to the MP at best, no matter what marketing says. And I personally prefer it if games come with uniform gameplay design. it only screws players over when they played one section of a game and when transferring to the next or switching between them, have to unlearn/relearn playstyles because things like weapon balance etc. are different.

 

But that's mostly preference on my part.

Half-assed attempt to get singleplayer gamers into buying the Battlefield games?

 

I don't mind the singleplayer in Battlefield games, though I'd rather prefer it if they set them up as say an extended tutorial for the MP, giving people new players the chance to learn the basics like cover, approaching specific situations, when to not shoot everything you see, vehicle controls, etc. pp.!

 

Haven't played Hardline and don't plan on doing it, but I've got several hundred hours into Bf3 and 4 each, out of which around less than ten are for each of the singleplayer campaigns. They never struck me as being more than techdemos to show off how pretty the game can be.

This is more against launch purchases in general. Joe mentioned that Battlefield 4 is great now and it only took them a year after release.

you actually bought it? it was pretty clear in BF4 beta, that Battlefield franchise is dead. They failed with BF3, they didn't fixed shhh they promissed to fix in BF4 and now this crap.

The definitive cop game this gen is Sleeping Dogs.

Nothing can change my mind in this aspect.

Further more you can get the GOTY edition with all the DLC on next gen consoles. So yeah, go buy that.
