We know that templars can get married and they are the original inquisitors but as in the holy orders be they templars, or teutons the Grandmasters were celibate(in theory not in practice) and they did not aknowleged their children well except the last Teuton grandmaster but he did that after he changed the church. So if the inquisitor has a child with a love interest of the opposite gender or a random wench or gigolo will he/she be forced because of its rank to deny its child and make him automatically a bastard?
The inquisitor can have children but is he/she allowed?

Nope, since the modern Inquisition isn't tied to the Chantry and those rules weren't set forth when the Inquisition was formed

I do not know. I would not assume there would be a problem, since the inquisition is not like the chantry. I also think that maybe the position of Inquisitor is not hereditary.

I don't think there's anyone who could say "no".
Though I doubt that the Inquisitor will have any children outside of head canon.

This. Makes sense, as the hero never seems to get babies (unless you count the FABLE franchise).
Plus, Imagine Sera as a mommy with F!Inquisitor.

That would make my main quis worry even more then usual.
The fact people are worshiping her as a demi-god when she's not and the fact she is qunari freaks her out to no end. Added what that mind set would do to her children in the long run if they start believing in that as well....*beats head to wall.
If she does have kid, it would be done in secret so that no one but a select few would even know they exists so they would not have some crazed worshipers fallowing them or fanatics or "avengers" trying to kill them.
I would be even harder to raise them with out them finding out who she really was in the long run. Just making sure they have some perspective on who there parents are and what they do in the world with out them feeling elite would be good enough.
Then there's being a qunari in a human dominated world and living with the hate and bitterness. It's going to be heart breaking to raise them to watch there back all the time and the world is dangerous...
That's a mountain of worry for her...

If the Inquisition isn't tied to the Chantry, why would the answer be "no"?

Yeah, I'm a little confused at the reasoning myself.

I think that was in response to the question in the OP, not the title.

I'm NGL this would be a fascinating extra tile option in the Keep. I'd love it.
I don't know if any of my PC's would have children- my Hawke maybe, if only because she's romancing a rivalmanced Sebastian and he'll need an heir- but tbh the Keep opens up a lot of possibilities for extra stuff.
Do eet BioWare! If only for the potential lols.

I could see my Cadash having a kid, either pre-DAI or with Blackwall.

Solas romance is out
Cass sadly seems like its also out
Jose maybe
Blackwall i see that being a no since his possibly life has to many options
Dorian/Sera Idk how adoption works in thedas so possibly out. Sera doesn't seem like she would want any and Dorian may not want any at the moment
Bull Idk if he would want to do his views while not 100% qun he may not think he is the father type
Cullen is also a maybe
So i could see josie for males and Cullen for females outside adoption

Divine Cass is more then likely out unless Divines are allowed to have kids. And Cass trying to rebuild the seekers while more likely If she is really serious about trying to rebuild the order and make sure it goes in the right direction it will need more of her attention which is hard if you have a kid that is going to need equal if not more attention. Cass was my main romance and while I would like to imagine her and my inquisitor having kids before they retire it just seems less likely to happen but nothing is impossible. Not even Solas popping a baby in a elf quizzy.

Well, Jaws of Hakkon revealed that when it came to this issue during the time of the first Inquisition;
(Not really much of a spoiler, but tagged for those who've yet to play.)

No? The Inquisitor is in control of the direction of the Inquisition, which is an inclusive organization. Unless they themselves set those rules, who could force them?
That's one way to deal with the "have you ever wanted to start a family" question.

The Inquisiton is outside the chantry; it is...*Big Boss voice* Outer Heaven! *dramatic echo*
*cough* Anyway, there is no rule that says that the Inquisitor can't have a kid.

It probably depends how formal the adoption is. Like, if you're a noble, maybe you have to be married to another (opposite sex) noble, tackle issues of inheritance, etc. No idea how that works with adoption in pseudo-medieval times.
But if, I dunno, fHawke and Merrill find some raggedy elven orphan kid on the street and proceed to raise 'em on up...

Yeah, I'd imagine the issue of bloodlines and inheritance is extremely important in this setting, but assuming the law allows one to formally design your heir (I believe they do in Ferelden, at any rate), it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
And Lady Hawke and Merrill adopting an elven child is now my new headcanon, thank you.
