There was an Inquisition in Thedas. It existed around the time that the Chantry started to come to be. This was a time after the First Blight, after Andraste's March, when there was chaos everywhere, the Imperium had broken apart, you had the Old God cults, so a lot of blood magic. There was a lot of chaos, you had the cults of Andraste...and the Inquisition sort of arose as a group of people who said "Enough is enough, somebody has to do something about this magic that is tearing apart the world." And when the Chantry came to be they went to the Inquisition and said "Hey, we're of the same mind on this, why don't we pull together" and that's when the Inquisition turned into the Seekers and the Templar Order. They kind of merged. It'd be interesting to see if the Inquisition ever rose up again."

EDIT: Apparently the shader now controls hair gel. Odd how that works after not having played the game for two months

Yeah thats from the most recent patch, theres actually a simple fix for it but I haven't played in so long I couldn't tell you what it is specifically, some additional line to add to the launch properties

 

If the Avvar are level 20+, they really should have conquered Fereldan by now

According to Cassandra and Leliana, it was made up of people who wanted to stop the chaos. Apparently that's only Andrastians, or in this guy's case, Andrastian syncretists.

And yet you also seem to forget Telana, his Elven lover. And the dwarven woman. There were clearly more than just Andrastian people fighting the chaos. And if a person like Ameridan could become the freaking head Inquisitor, then surely the Inquisition could have been composed of a diverse group of people.

I haven't played this at all and probably shouldn't since the price is never going to drop. I feel like Bioware knows the content isn't good enough that everyone will want it, so instead they overprice it knowing the die-hard fans will still purchase as this price point. (Like I did with ME3 DLC) Well...I probably will end up buying this anyway, although I did avoid all the DA2 DLC out of spite.

Inquisition as a whole pushes a narrative that makes Andrastians look like saints and other cultures seem either backwards or awful. 

 

Just look at the whole "Qunari have dragon-blood which makes them very prone to madness!" schtick, which just ends up kissing the ass of the Chantry whose very propaganda against the Qunari was that they were savages. I can't say I'm fond of that idea Bioware went with, since it ends up cheapening Sten's story as well.

 

So I can't say I'm surprised. Extremely disappointed, but not surprised.

The armor is restricted to your Inquisitor class. After you meet Ameridan, you can talk to the University professor, you can either say the truth or tell he was a human noble warrior, after that you will gain a war table mission, the reward is the schematic of that armor for every class ( I lied and used Josephine, dont know the results of not lying or using Leliana, but I think they will be the same).

He drops Frost Dragon Bone and Frost Dragon Leather, but no equipment.

There goes my dream of strengthen the Inquisition's forces, and making it more diverse by having Avvar barbarian in the ranks. I suppose, it's to be expected and that wrap things up. At least, I hope his death is not in vain.

No impact in the main story, but if you complete the main story its regonized in the DLC ( like the professor saying now that Gaspard has been dealt with, the University can prosper again or the Avvar shaman saying that he know the Inquisitor killed a "envy god" who tried to ursurper his crown) and a war tables mission will appear if you discovered Brydda's staff and another if you recruited Sky Watcher.

The Avvar tribe will join the Inquisition against the Jaws of Hakkon, after you defeat him (and do some favors to them) they will say you are their kin and give a legend-mark (honorable name) to you nave you will judge their hole beast (a bear and you can recruit her to the Inquisition)
Ameridan was using magic to put everything in the temple in seasons, after the Jaws disturb him, he is to weak and vanish after speaking to the Inquisitor (recommend to bring Cassandra with you, she has a special dialogue with him).

He drops a staff as well...
