It's not really her parents' business, all they should concern themselves with is whether their child is happy or not. Unless they live in India.
I respectfully disagree. It will always be the parents business. I'm in my thirties and still get my parents opinion on stuff. Especially that young children. As a parent you probably want to guide and help as much and long as possible. Can't just say it's ok if the child is happy. So 19 year old Bob likes torturing animals and it makes him happy so that's ok? No. I'm overdoing here, but hope you get my point.

Yeah, that's completely overdoing it. When it comes to relationships, parents should keep their hands off unless asked to give their input. Mine know if they want to get mixed up in my relationships, I'll shut them out, but fortunately they have no problems as long as I am happy. It's my life, not theirs, everyone makes their own decisions and lives with them. I've seen many friends who've gone down a rather sad route cause their parents are overly controlling trying to dictate what kind of people their kid should be with.
It is completely wrong, we are not talking about whether they should have a problem with their kid being a mass murderer or a rapist, we are talking about what kind of person their child should be with. And that is none of their business.

Thanks.
As lame and cliche as it sounds, the hearts knows what it wants. If a younger person makes you feel good about yourself and you are honest with each other, where is the harm? I think it comes down to understanding expectations. If you are in your thirties, say, and you are starting to think about wanting kids etc, but you start dating someone in their twenties, you have to be realistic about the situation and what they will be wanting from the relationship. They may not want to settle down and have kids for about 5-10 years. By that time you are pushing 40-45 and worrying about your eggs drying up! My point here is that it would be wrong to push a younger person who's not quite ready to settle down into a family unit picking out curtains because you are at that point in your life.
With me, it was an honest conversation me and my (then) boyfriend had early on. I told him where I wanted to be and what I wanted from the relationship. I was fortunate that he was kinda in that frame of mind too. If he wasn't, then I wouldn't have pursued it any further.
To be fair, you can tell whether two people are completely mismatched. In defence of OP, she may have a decent inkling about this guy and her sister. How many times have any of us ever heard a story and said "Well that's not gonna work!"
I know I have, and sometimes I've been right.
I agree with this completely! Could almost not have said it better myself.
It's how I think as well, I'm always honest about my intentions and what I want.

Thank god I have the parents I do. All they care about is my happiness, and they would NEVER tell me who I can and cant be with. Sh!t would get old fast. I dont have to worry about that.
Man I love my folks so much. Got lucky with them, seeing how some people worry over their parents like this.

Normally not, but we're talking a 15 and a 19 year old dsting. If my 19 year old child was dating a 15 year, id be seriously concerned about them having sex. At 19 it's legal, not at 15 in a lot of places. And if the 15 year old has very protective parents, this could go very sour very quickly.

This thread is actually very informative, I like seeing how many people have or have not made it with the age difference in their relationships.

I've heard stories like that before, my grandparents had similar situation and they asked for President's permission to marry at young age and have been happily married ever since. People develop at different paces, you can't go and say that "well... 0:01 our son just hit 16/18, he is ready to have sex now/make his own decisions".

You'd be wrong. Good people can have monsters as their children, some people are f*cked in the head even without "help" from their parents.

(A long time ago) When I was dating a guy who was a couple of years older than me, he was 17 and I was 15, we were really serious about one another and his parents (who had not really had much involvement in his upbringing) had an issue with us sleeping over at each others houses. His father called up my mum and really gave her grief about her letting us. She said "Well, if you'd rather they go about doing it at bus stops or on park benches because they aren't allowed in the house, that's up to you, but I know I would rather they do it somewhere safe and appropriate".
