What's the arc pistol hype? I've tried using it numerous times, and it keeps performing underwhelmingly. Fully charged, of course.

1. It's a pistol, and so it has access to the best mods in the game.

2. It's damage when charged is almost that of a black widow (that is pretty huge) while weighing less and having more reserve ammo.

3. It weighs very less compared to other weapons with similar or higher damage, making it pretty versatile.

4. It doesn't suffer from shield gate because a charged shot actually fires 3 shots (kinda like shotgun pellet theory)

5. Charge up mechanism means you can fire it when running which gives it something extra the other weapons don't have.

Lotsa people noticed that Talon is an intruder in the list of Geth weapons but... since when are the Widow and the Black Widow Quarian weapons, as many here seem to believe? The Widow is an upgrade of the Viper, which is manufactured by Rosenkov Materials, a Human arms manufacturer. The Black Widow was engineered by the Alliance as an upgrade to the Widow. What am I missing here?

The original Widow is a Quarian weapon, which you can see in the memories of the Geth Uprising. Its description always said that it was too much for humans to handle until it got adapted. The Black Widow is based on the Widow design, too.

Not exactly, but it's been a long time since I played any of the campaigns, that's why I'm asking.

Personally I think the evidence is iffy either way... but humans have sooooo many good weapons and armor, we should leave a few to the Quarians.

Thanks for the explanation! Looks I'll have to try it again, because previously I didn't notice any respectable damage from Arc Pistol.

Then you either haven't hit then, or you haven't charged the gun enough. A single charged headshot from the arc pistol is enough to kill pretty much any humanoid even on gold, I think.

The original Widow could be carried but never fired by an ordinary human without it shattering the human's shoulder, according to lore in ME2. It's Legion's weapon and is considered of Geth origin until the Geth memory sequence, shows the weapon or something similar to it as of Quarian origin. I think it's safe to say given Quarians abilities as sniper infiltrators that a similar sniper rifle may have been the template for the M98 Widow that Legion or Shepard had access to in ME2. The M98 we have today is of human design based upon the Geth version of that weapon, I would say that all of these weapons descended from original Quarian design though.

I don't know. Arc Nades are pretty op and compliment weapons best if they don't have disrupter ammo, since weapon piercing is where the true armour melting dps happens. And to do that you need to strip the shields first. That and nothing handles mooks better then Arc Nades. While a GI may headshot one mook, a MQI will take out a few with it's sweet radius in just one or two nades.

 

All Quarian have a debuff power (Tac Scan & Cryo) or tech synergy of Sabotage in the FQI case. Only debuff capable Geth is the GI with Proxy.

 

On the turret issue. The Quarian one is better at crowd control & thus drawing agro. The Geth Turret only makes up with the heal factor. I enjoy both and am a fan of pet, so will not put any of them down.

 

Hunter mode for accuracy & fire rate is nice, but so is Marksman & it's bonus ability to free re-load & up the headshot dps.

Who needs shields when you have Arc Nades? (Especially in combination with... wait for it... Arc Nades spam under duration cloak. )

 

But yeah, how did this topic get to so many pages with Arc Nades? I don't know? Sounds like an actual L2P issue, maybe?
