I don't know if this thread exists already or not, so I figured I'd make one, since Gears is one of my favorite shooters ever and I am excited for Gears of War, or whatever the title will be. I never did get to play Gears 1 online all that much, I first got Xbox LIVE in 2008, shortly before Gears 2 released. I've been a massive fan ever since though. All that said, I detest Judgment and think it spits on the franchise's good name.

 

Sadly, Rod Fergusson (the project lead at Black Tusk) has confirmed that there are no plans to re-release the original Gears trilogy on new-gen consoles. According to Microsoft, fans should expect to see something at E3 this year, which makes me think they'll do a reveal. I'll keep the thread updated when I see or hear more news. What kind of features, weapons, characters, etc, do you want to see in the new Gears? Do you still play? What about Gears do you like?

I've only played Gears 2. Really fun, the Chainsaw Bayonet is the most badass weapon ever!

They never did say why the Locust Queen appeared to be human. Unless I missed something.

The most that can be said is that the Locust

are descendants of the original group of people brought to Mt. Kadar by Niles Samson (the ones who were infected by Imulsion and had contracted Rustlung), and that Myrrah is one of them who just so happened to retain human traits instead of devolving into a monster

. That's a simplified version of it, but that's *apparently* the case. I say "apparently" because it hasn't been officially *confirmed* by Epic or any of the writers. The closest that's ever been given to a confirmation is this:

^ It's only backed up by a bunch of quotes from a former dev (the level designer, not a writer or story person) that can't be found, so who can say for it's truth. These quotes are also from 2006 and 2007, before Josh Ortega and Karen Traviss (i.e. the 2 people who fleshed out the Gears universe to what it is now) came on board. This was back in the days of the first game, when there was little to no plot to speak of.

 

So, basically, the entire backstory of the Locust is known to the Epic devs, they just never bothered to incorporate it into the games, novels, or comics and never even so much as hinted at it. I remember seeing this whole, grand debate engulf the Epic forums when it was revealed during the days of Gears 3 online. I still think it's a stupid origin (it doesn't follow any kind of logic and is contradictory to things that are already established), but it's there.

I love gears. Well...The first 3, Judgement was ok not bad. I just never got into it as much as I wanted to. But I'll be interested to see whats next though. Hope it'll be good!

Hated Judgement, the arcade style campaign mode was awful.

 

1 was amazing in terms of the setting, how dark the story, also the sci-fi horror which can scare you. The 2nd and 3rd lost the scares all together and became more colourful which is sad. 3, 1 then 2 in order are my favourites. Judgement didn't happen.

Rumor has it Microsoft is gonna be showing off what Black Tusk's Gears will look like this upcoming E3, with Halo dropping in the fall gonna need another franchise player to lead the way

Really hope they remakes Gears 3 for XB1, would be the greatest news I've heard

Microsoft has already said that something will be shown at E3, and Rod Fergusson has denied rumors of a remake of the original trilogy, for what it's worth.
