So, that sucked. I imported my world state correctly - I know I did because if you don't when you get to the part of the game where you meet Hawke you won't get an option to customise. I went to customise... and I only get a male Hawke. My Hawke was female. So I restarted the game and now it's bugged - as soon as I talk to Varric and select 'custom Hawke' all interactions with Varric cease. So not only do I not get to choose to recreate my Hawke, I don't get a Hawke at all. Hoping this doesn't bug the game out further down the line, because it looks like Hawke will not be in my game because of this bug. Goes without saying, the amount of bugs I've run into in this game is hugely disappointing.

If you're not getting a Hawke at all, your game save cannot even be completed.
When you say restarted, do you mean new save, or a reboot?

Haha. That should be interesting. I just turned it on and off when I couldn't get a female Hawke.

In hindsight yes, but it's not like 'turning it off and on again' isn't the go-to mantra to fixing computer bugs.
