Won't be buying the DLCs if mods don't work. Anyone feel the same?

I was very much enjoying my retextures, having different colour default outfits for my companions as well as the convenience mods such as insant looting, more loot and fade-touched, no long War Table wait times, etc. I'm so frustrated that this recent patch broke modding again. I can see it happening once but twice? It feels like someone is intentionally trying to screw with modding and to me that is game over. I really feel strongly about being able to play my games how I choose and customizing things to my play style. I still play Origins with mods to this day. Mods don't stop people from purchasing DLC - The Elder Scrolls is proof of this. Any and all mods make the game more enjoyable to replay and come back to. Why would I want to buy DLC when even the main campaign has been made less enjoyable without mods??

If the patches were intentionally designed to prevent mods from working then, yeah, I'll probably stick with mods over DLC. But there's no reason to suspect that as being the case right now. Patches change the game files so, naturally, that's going to screw with things like mods that work off of those. I mean, Bioware's patches break their own internal systems pretty often, so it's no surprise that third party systems would lose their functioning.

Modders will just need to adapt and release new updates for their mods with each patch. As long as they can do that, I'm good. Although the steep $15 price tag is another thing.

I really hope that's not the case (them doing it intentionally). Right now the only way I can play is if I don't download the patch, and I'm assuming that the DLCs will require the patch. I would buy the DLC immediately if mods were working. :( We can only hope the modders come up with workaround for this fairly soon.

I'm not going to let mods stop me from getting more official content for my game. So, if I have to choose between mods and DLC's, the DLC's win everytime. But I doubt it will go to that.

Its mostly likely not on purpose. I'm no expert, but I do know that most of the time patches change something in the executable.

Which then causes interferences with mods because they still have the old executable written in them.

I'm waiting to see if the modders come up with a work-around.  I like my mods too much to want to worry about this particular DLC.

It doesn't add better hair textures or more hair, it only fixes one mosaic (I already downloaded a fix for the mosaics from modders) and it doesn't really add much more to the story from what I saw last night on Twitch.

I've read some early reviews, positive and negative, but they both have one thing in common, this is just another zone, light on the cutscenes, no new companion interaction and more filler quests.  I hear the bosses are a bear but the loot may be worth it to some.

I'll wait.  :)  Now if it added more companion related things to do or more LI things to do, I might re-thing that.

They're not breaking mods on purpose. That would be ridiculous.

Personally I'm not buying the dlc because I don't see the point in buying content that takes place before the endgame.

Mods over DLC for me as well. Once you've gotten used to having the game tailored a certain way it's nearly impossible to go back to vanilla - everything just seems so limited.

No. As with Skyrim, I simply update the mods when they upgrade with new content or other mods.

I love the mods I have, they have greatly increased my experience. I have hope that either BW will fix the issue with patch 6 or that the amazing modders out there will find a way around it. Until then, I will place the DLC on hold.

I don't use mods. But I also won't be getting the DLC unless the price drops to about $5.

Like many here, I prefer mods to DLC. Mods make the entire game playable for me, so until the wonderful modders of DAI find a workaround, I'll be sitting tight on Patch V. After they find a workaround, I'll consider DLC, but not before.

Me too, I really hope modders manage to find a workaround soon or a new patch makes the game mod friendly again. Untill then I will have to choose mods over the DLC.

"The little things" , things like not being forced in beige pj`s or nutcracker Halamshirals, no more sideburns on women, more loot= less chest respawn farming for armor schematics, they are just very vital to my enjoying the game.

Eh, bought all the DLC for Skyrim regardless of mods. Mod support would have been great in Inquisition, prolonged the shelf life for an untold amount of time.

I'm not buying anything for Inquisition unless Bioware releases modding TOOLS, which means I won't be buying anything for Inquisition at all. The only way I see myself buy the DLC is if mod community comes out with it's own modding tools and DLC price drops to 5USD or smthng.

Not here. I'll buy the DLC if it's good, then play with the mods that work.

Agreed. Mods or no DAI for me. It's not even as if patch 6 addressed any real concerns. Oooo, they fixed the mosaic piece for The Fall that MODDERS ALREADY FIXED.

I just can't look at those stupid beige pajamas. If anyone wants to roll back their patch to 5 (let me know if you need to know how) and use the human male pajamas retex I use (it's not published anywhere, as I used a very generous friend's retexture as the basis) they're welcome to. That, along with weapon class restrictions removed, are two huge reasons for me to play the game. (I like playing an Origins style Arcane Warrior - with mods, I can. Makes the game harder if you go mage.)

This DLC? After the bad reviews? Not even close to worth giving up my mods for. And yes, I've heard it's overpriced, but honestly it's not even about money. 15 or 10 is basically the same thing to me.

Dont get me wrong i love me some mods but after 4 full playthroughs (and 3 incomplete :x) there's only so many ways you can re-flavor the same content! So imo the DLC is worth ;3

For me, it depends on the DLC.  The mods I use make the game more enjoyable, and the content in this new DLC isn't worth giving them up (in my opinion, of course).  Until there's a DLC that really interests me, I'm staying on patch 5.

And, I posted this elsewhere but, Bioware's stance is that they're not deliberately trying to "patch out" modding.

"Sorry you feel that way, but we are in no way actively trying to "patch out" modding. When making a patch we focus on our systems, and making sure whatever changes we have made don't break the game. We are not thinking of the consequences our changes will make to a mod.
To echo BioAdmiralX, it has always been stated that Modding is 100% not supported. If you make a mod for the game, and it does not work after a dlc/patch, it is up to that creator to update/patch their mod.
Mods are awesome, and good on everyone for making them, but we are not going to change our testing or patching because of them."

It depends, I don't feel the need to buy the JoH and would rather stick to patch 5 and my mods for now... but if they released a Solas DLC, I'd be all over it.

I don't do mods until all DLCs are released. That way if something breaks you will know it is the MOD and not the DLC that is conflicting with the Mod.
