seems a little incongruent.

ok, so I've finished the campaign before launching the DLC. So...why are there rifts in the new area?
seems a little incongruent.
Because it's, obviously, unfinished-content cut from the main game..

You're acting like most DLC, of any company, isn't that.

Same reason why there are still rifts after you close the breach.
Closing the breach prevents new rifts from appearing, but those that are already there stay till closed.

Yeah, pretty sure no one said all the rifts everywhere closed just cuz you killed Coryphytits.

There are rifts all over the place, even beyond the reach of the Inquisition. As previously stated, the rifts don't just close because you closed the Breach and killed Corypheus.
Sounds like the Oblivion Gates from the Elder Scrolls 4... Well, those did close after you beat the main quest, but they caused major problems in every nation for a long time before that (according to Bethesda's canon, anyway). This sounds like it could be much worse in the long run. I wonder what effect that will have on places like Tevinter... or better yet, Rivain, where abominations are fairly common.

Oblivion gates actually closed though, thanks to Martin.

Not unreasonably inferred, though. Bear in mind, I closed EVERY rift pre DLC before launching into the end game.

Not really, I think Cassandra or one of the advisors mentions that there are leftover rifts (Or that might have been after sealing the Breach the first time)Not unreasonably inferred, though. Bear in mind, I closed EVERY rift pre DLC before launching into the end game.

This also explains how every other rift is open after you close the Breach. Those other regions must be unfinished cut content too.

Because, realistically (in the game) there a rifts throughout the Thedas

You might have closed all the rifts in the areas you went to throughout the game but they still exist in the places you haven't been to. The Basin is a place you haven't been to therefore there are veil rifts in the area, it isn't the same as ME3's destroy ending at all.

Well I WOULD have seen them in my post-game. Synthesis ftw.
Yah know. If the rifts showed up with the kind or regularity they did in areas we covered in Inquisition and they've been open for about a year at least southern Thedas must be absolutely fucked.

I'm really glad I didn't spoil myself from reading this ![]()
But yes, as people said killing the guy doesn't close rifts. As there are still open ones in the game (if you didn't close them before facing him) it's safe to assume that they still are in places where you haven't gone already.
Now a quick question everyone if you've finished it already. Without spoiling it for me please, is it worth the 15e? I'm 100% sure I'll buy it eventually but can the content justify paying for it now that 15e seem a bit much for my current state? And I mean story-wise as well as gameplay wise... If it's 2h doing fetch quests it's not, if it's 2h doing interesting stuff or if it has more lore I'd have no problem justifying it. If it's more hours then even better.

Hmm, the widow with the ring in Hinterlands comes to mind. Kind of a bummer having a rift in your front yard.

It's like a cut area from the game but with an actual story in the area that the quests deal with and interesting NPCs. So basically it's how the other areas should have been. But that doesn't mean it has a lot of cutscenes or character (like your companions or you) depth. Ymmv if it's worth it, I think it's overpriced but I had the cash to spare and I'm enjoying it.
One of the writers of the DLC showed up and confirmed that it isn't cut

Seems like they just wanted the story DLC to have the same amount of exploration as the core game
Don't really agree with it imo, but it is what it is. Hopefully future DLC is more story-focused and less exploration( Not against seeing new areas though)

I seem to recall Laidlaw saying very shortly after release that DLC would probably take the form of more explorable areas.Seems like they just wanted the story DLC to have the same amount of exploration as the core game

I share the feelings about story focused personally.

OH, to be fair, I didn't mean it was cut content, just that it doesn't feel radically different from the base game....just like a new area shows up, it's fun to explore, but there's actually a story behind the area. It's probably the kind of thing for people who wanted to have a new area to use their dragon weapons in (cuz it is challenging!), or people who are into the lore, or people who like the exploring, or whatever.
It's billed as a story DLC but it doesn't feel like one to me....there IS a story....but I would expect a story to take front and center in a story dlc, shrug. Semantics, maybe.
