I am planning to skip this one as well, and most of the DLC's in this game until they fix what I view as fundamental flaws with how skyhold, most of the inquisition content, and the other cut content was handled

EXACTLY MY SENTIMENT!

The only way this industry will change for the better is when we all vote with our wallets.

It might take long ...

But it is the only way!

Each day i lose more and more faith in this franchise. $15 and nothing innovative added and awful early reviews.
It feels desperate and saddens me.

Was this just an order from corporate saying get the game out the door and let's package that unfinished region as dlc.

You are horribly close to describing the FULL picture here ...

The game as it is costs $60 and has, what, 10 major regions? Ignoring the main story-line missions, that means each region is worth around $6. Even if you want to argue that this particular region has more special content than the other ones, that brings the appropriate price to between $7 and $10. Not $15.

But, of course, Bioware wants to make money and they know a decent number of people are going to shell out $15 to get the new DAI content as soon as possible. Which is fine. But if they want my money for this content, eventually, they're going to have to bring that price down to what the content is actually worth.

I don't measure the value of a game by the number of regions or the number of shards I may collect.

Thank you so much, Dubya75, for linking the reddit post here!

I cannot believe how this turned out to be ...

I was adamant to not buying anything. But I wanted to wait if they will be successful in fixing the game and I then wanted to buy it one more time for PS4 together with all DLC - at the end of the 2015 or something like that. The only reason I had some last positive thoughts left, basically, was because I had some last bit of trust in BioWare or rather the devs. I thought they read their own forum! I was confident they had understood by now, that some very specific things weren't embraced at all by their fanbase ... and that there are some mistakes they really should not emphasise even more! GOD ... MORE FETCH QUESTS - YIPPIE!

EA does not care like always and Bioware has no pull here or what? USELESS ...

You're welcome!

Sadly, it looks like Bioware will not redeem themselves after their little stunt of releasing this game in an unfinished state and lying to their customers about it being a "PC" game and the last gen console version practically unplayable for many.

Like many others here, I am having a very hard time to see them in a more positive light as a result.

They seem incapable of anything remotely creative (hence more fetch quests) nor do they seem able to properly support their own game through successful patching (instead breaking as many things as they attempt to fix).

It could well be that this new DLC contains some really nice stuff. But between the price tag and MORE SHARDS to collect.....No thanks.

I think the amount of content in a game is a pretty good measure of its value, regardless of subjective opinion. I mean, I may not particularly care for a lot of the content in, say, GTA5, but it would be silly to say that the game isn't worth at least $60 for all of the content packed into it.

It's clear to me that although it has the same name, BioWare is no longer the same company I fell in love with years ago and they no longer make the kind of games that I like. They have new fans now that like the direction they've gone in and those fans will hopefully keep them afloat.

I think what is worth to me is really subjective. If I don't like it, why would I pay $60 for it? Even if there is a lot of content in it (what I don't like).

In other words: If I don't like to eat calamari, why would I order five portions of it?

With past BioWare DLCs for the ME series and DA:O, I'd be super excited and stoked on launch Tuesdays the day it came out.  Would obsessively hit the f5 refresh button for the second it came out.  Was more than happy to boost BioWare's profits by paying $14.99 for each DLC.  Would even buy the custom companion outfits and weapons pack DLC which was more to support BW than for personal appeal or convenience.

With this early review or not, I just don't care anymore.  Would normally reserve judgement myself and tell any naysayers the same about trying out the damn DLC first before jumping to any conclusions, but I can tell by the depth and how that review is coming from the heart it's clear which direction they're going with future development of the DA series.  Was holding onto hope that they'd consider feedback and constructive criticism from long time fans that were less than content with DA:I.  Guess not.

While I thank you for the heads up Dubya, my credit card company greatly disapproves of you driving away the $14.99 sale.

I wouldn't call these fool "fans" at all ...

They are just easily manipulated by PR and have a lot to learn about games and the industry ... YET!

OMG!!!  You just re-burned the image and memory of my brother rubbing it in face how EA tricked me again and keeps taking my money.  And how i'll fall for it again in the future.

I don't know about that. A lot of people even on these boards will defend DA:I and act as if it's perfect. On facebook their responses are almost completely positive. I know people like games for different reasons but I wish that the reasons I liked BioWare's games weren't being stripped away or severely watered down one after another. :(

I know for a fact that every negative comment on facebook and twitter gets deleted right away - almost immediately!

Ask Rawgrim about that! He wrote about it on the BSN and made the experience himself in person! He wrote something ... I believe a bugfix request or something like that ... and it got deleted!

that's because facebook and twitter are for nothing more then marketing and PR. they allow us to complain here because no one with any real sway (people who have not bought the game and the media) will see it, all of us are the suckers who have bought the game already and thus we don't matter anymore. and you have no idea how painful it was to wright that. it saddens me to see how far this company has fallen. I mean I never even see a dev or anyone who is a bioware employee on these threads. I would like to know if they even read our comments or take them under advisement at all.

This DLC should be free for those who pre-ordered and paid full price at launch.

So, another hinterlands region with no interesting story nor deeper companion development?

No thanks... I am skipping this one.

Well, damn. I was SO ready to purchase this, but the reviews I've seen so far have convinced me not to. That sucks. I was hoping that the DLC would be more than another side zone, but it sounds like that's exactly what it is. I guess I'll have to keep waiting to see if something entices me back.

Well, it is just a new zone, like any other zone there is.

If you are going to give DAI a new playthrough, you can get it so you can visit a new area instead of the areas you already know.

If I were to do a new playthrough of DAI, I would definitely buy it, since 15 dollars is not money for a working guy like me, it is not much money. And instead of doing crestwood, or oasis, or whatever zone I have already visited, I would do this new zone.

However, I still need an incentive to play the game again. This DLC is not giving me the needed incentive to do it.

So I will wait for a story DLC, something that makes me wanna play the game again, and then instead of farming power in already known fetch/side quests, I will do it in this new zone.

So its up to you Bioware. Do a good DLC and its +15 dollars inmediately from my part. But this DLC is not good enough still.

I'm not sure that's a spoiler. It seemed pretty clear from all the first impressions that this was little more than an overpriced exploration area.

I still expect to enjoy it, but I find it unlikely that $15 is ultimately a justifiable price point for the majority of DLC (I have no illusions that it will change, however). Even Legacy and MotA would not have been worth that amount (definitely none of the Origins DLC), and I'm not sure any of the current story missions from the main game would feel right at that price either.
