Am I the only who hates the fact that you have to be level 20 just to be able to get through the damn DLC anyway? I mean, it's bad enough the DLC itself sucks but can I at least play through it at level 8 so I can get it over with and just acquire that legendary armor right away? Why would I grind to level 20 to play through this shlock? I'm done with the entire game by level 17.

And as it turns out, people are reporting that the Avvar are about as interesting as cardboard cut-outs.
Bioware has truly lost their ability to write content anywhere near interesting or creative.
Clearly, this stuff is nowhere near comparable to DAO...the writing talent just don't seem to be there any more.
Instead, Bioware devs are interviewed, boasting about the number of dialogue lines ALL THE BLOODY TIME....as if that is any indication whatsoever of the quality of those lines?
It is quite hilarious how obvious and transparent it is becoming that any kind of creativity is GONE from the Bioware writing team.
DAI is one of the best looking games I have ever played. Also the most boring.
At least they are enforcing the fact that I am making the right choice to leave this franchise behind, together with EA and Bioware. Just such a damn shame they went down like this in my mind.
Perfectly put!
The best comparison I have for the feeling of the game and the gameplay is a MMO.
It is not a AAA-SP-RPG any longer, for me, when it comes to the "feeling" of it - that is for sure ...
I was never interested in MMO's, I do not enjoy them ... they bore the living hell out of me!
Most of them do not compare, for me, in regards to atmosphere or content or depth - not even close do they compare with SP-RPG's.

Bioware-critic I do not have a job in gaming at all, I am just giving people ideas of things they can do instead of spending more money on this horrible game. I my self, after seeing the game run, will probably not be able to play said up coming D&D game on my computer, it will kill the hamster it uses for processing. I myself will just have to amuse my self with the handsome jack collection until witcher 3 in 2 months. then hopefully we will be able to point at that game and say to bioware " that's how you do an open world RPG. No pointless fetch quests, but awesome action mixed with exploration."

Funny thing: I had to kill the boss several times to get firestarter because I needed to kill him slower... I actually had to stop attacking from time to time so that the boss wouldn't die before spawning the winter shards... LOL
Are devs touched in the head or something?

This DLC fails at the exact same aspects we criticized from the base game since day 1. Well done Bioware for "listening to your fans". What a crock.

So...you did buy the dlc.
I should put it in my signature: I will buy all DLCs for this game no matter what they are about or how much they cost. UNLESS there is no new schematics and/or materials and/or character creation options. If it was a box with a single new schematic that costs 200 euros I would still buy it. Since I'm 99,99% sure all DLC will feature one of these things I'm pretty sure I will buy them all.

Ok, I bought this without hesitation as so far any DLC from Bioware.
**** I will never do it again without reading forums first. ****
It seems Bioware wants to abandon what makes its games unique for good. And that is story with cut scenes, moral decisions, heroic narrative and relationships. As in this aspect while the main game already suffered a major drawback being full of dull grind, this DLC it is a COMPLETE RIPOFF. What we get for 15E is just another area full of neverending fights and miniquests I can't be even bothered to read anymore. Simply all I already was fed up to the roof in the main game whenever I had to do this stupid grind instead of the (very short compared to other Bioware games) main and inner-circle storylines.
I will never buy a DLC for DAI again unless I read on forums it has a worthwile story in classic Bioware tradition. If you love to play Bioware games for story STAY AWAY OF THIS, it's not worth 5 euro, yet alone 15! If I'd want tons of pointless do & forget mini quests and wander through even more pointless vast area of the same grind (shards hunting anyone?) and frustrating attmepts to get somewhere I can as well play ESO or Skyrim.

You don't "have" to be level 20. 20 is the recommended level so you don't get your ass kicked. And I also recommend that you be at least 20. I've watched a couple streams of it and seen the new mobs, like 4 pride demons, 3 level 30 desire demons, and people ranging from level 19 to 26 have been getting their butts handed to them on normal and casual difficulty...
I think the dlc is supposed to be a "reward" for people who explored a lot and got to the higher levels, especially since enemies don't level up with you and you find yourself fighting the same low level guys over and over...

Just beat JoH tonight, thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
Took me 7 hours to do pretty much everything. So, from that respect, $15 for 7 hours of content isn't terrible, if you enjoyed most of DA:I. If you didn't, you probably wouldn't enjoy this. And just like I skip most of the side quests in my 2nd and 3rd DA:I playthroughs, I will probably skip most of this content in those playthroughs as well. If I replay it at all it will be to see if there's any more dialog from companions I didn't bring, or to get gear.
Started out at level 24 and ended at level 27. Played on Normal. It was more difficult content than most of the game, which was a nice change.
Environment was gorgeous.
If every zone in DA:I had been set up like this zone, storywise (story tied to environment), and all the main stories were tied to the main plot, DA:I would have been a superior game. JoH's story was intriguing enough for me to want to know more, but the simple fact that it's playable both during and post campaign means that it's plot line is pretty irrelevant, and I feel it suffers from that. Unless they tie it in to future games, which I guess they might...
If I had one thing to tell Bioware after this dlc is MORE CUTSCENES. As a player, a cutscene makes me feel like that moment is important. I went the first 5 hours of this dlc with no cutscenes other than the standard "Scout Harding Intro" that you get in every zone. Made me feel like everything I was doing was an unimportant side quest. Which yea, a lot of it was, but even the main plot felt unimportant.
Really liked all the new gear that dropped, and new crafting materials, too.
Wanted more companion interactions. It seemed like whatever warrior I had in my party (cycled through Cassandra, Blackwall, and Iron Bull) had priority when it came to interjecting their opinions? Either that or they just had more content written for them? Cos 80% of the time, if anyone said anything at all, it was the warrior. Everyone else was fairly quiet. And Cassandra was the only one I ever got approval/disapproval from, which was weird cos there was a fair amount of spirit related stuff that seemed appropriate for Solas and/or Cole to have an opinion on.
Liked the warmth mechanics in the fortress. Was a fun new thing.
I think that about covers it. I would equate it to a DA:O's Golems of Amgarrak - entertaining the first time, but doesn't feel important enough to want to replay it much. I'm hoping their future dlc's are more like DA2's Legacy.

I enjoyed it although $15 was a bit much in restrospect. But given how big and awesomely beautiful the map was, it was worth my money. Enjoyed the ending and last fight... expansion on the Avvar - happy to see that they weren't all brutes and barbarians. The closest analogy I can make of them are shamanism ![]()
The map was super beautiful. After a long week of work, I enjoyed just exploring the area and suprised to see more vertical space being used!
Side quests weren't that terribly exciting, and brought back the feeling of fatigue I felt back in the Hinterlands. Still, enjoyed it! It's not something I would play in a consecutive manner, character after character - the map is just too big for that imo.
Also surprised to see the map be more dynamic in terms of showing the Inquisition which I felt the other original maps lacked.
The story itself was interesting as well. It may not have answered questions that would come out of playing the main game content, but good to see the universe's past expand a bit more ![]()

I also found it enjoyable. I played it on Nightmare but I also went into the area at lvl 24 and was lvl 27 before leaving there after having done everything.
You can encounter LVL 30 enemies (I'm not sure if you did) but it was from doing something in what I'd call, an unmarked quest. It was an awesome surprise and they dropped some nice crafting items for me. XD I really enjoyed this DLC, money well spent IMO.... but if you play it I highly recommend you read all of the lore you encounter whether you did or didn't read everything in the main game. On top of that, the Zone is seemingly my new favorite in terms of design and overall look as well as the more intense encounters which made the battles feel much more rewarding (plus tons of great loot & new materials to be found).

Well allow me to dispel the mystery for you: Different people can have different opinions on the quality of a product and neither has to be wrong.
Here's my problem:
I really really love Dragon Age.
Since DAO, I have blindly purchased all DLC and enjoyed most of it.
But I hate what Bioware did with the PC version of this game and how they are treating their most loyal fans. And as a result I promised myself to stop supporting them by giving them my money.
And now I get report from my girlfriend about how good Jaws Of Hakkon is. And I trust her judgement because we agree on most everything regarding the strengths and faults of DAI.
I'm not one to sit on the fence about these things, so I have to decide to take the plunge and play the DLC or stick to my guns and possibly miss out on something worth my time and money.
