Each day i lose more and more faith in this franchise. $15 and nothing innovative added and awful early reviews.
It feels desperate and saddens me. Was this just an order from corporate saying get the game out the door and let's package that unfinished region as dlc.

Thank you, great post i heartily agree completely.

I feel this DLC just emphasizes the disconnect between the developers in Bioware and it's customers even more. Maybe EA Games in general too.

So basically we have to seek out and find the last Dragonborn, my bad, the last Inquisitor.

Glad I read this before buying it. I'm doing a second playthrough with my DA "legacy" world states. Debated getting it since I'm doing a fresh game but it seems to be another boring grind. I'll admit I am already having issues getting through a second game where as I didn't have this issue ever with DA:O. It's just so.. grindy. If I wanted a grindfest I'd go back and play WoW.

I personally enjoyed it! yeah the price point was a little high for me personally, but im just happy to be getting non-multiplayer content! im a huge fan of the history of Thedas and they give you lots of new codex entries and depending on who you bring with it totally elaborates on their personalities :) However I thought there was an unnecessary amount of backtracking. That could have been just the order i completed quests or done on purpose to make the content seem longer? Idk otherwise no complaints! more end game XP and unique gear, decently challenging puzzles, elaboration on the Exalted March & past Inquisition, NEW crafting stuffs (that look EPIC btw) and excellent writing. 9/10 Would buy again ;)

I actually quite enjoyed the DLC.

But what bugged me all the time: Bioware.... you tell us that this was made all exclusivly for this dlc? You want me to believe that you pulled out such a finely crafted and layouted area in what? 4-5 weeks? Completly with quests and voice-overs. This was one of the areas that was cut during alpha or beta wasn't it? The one that can be seen in the press preview videos loading screen? You might have rewritten part of the story and added sidequests, rebalanced the enemies etc. but this area must have been close to 100% finished before the release of Inquisition.

An no expert, but DLC's are assigned well in advance, I believe. If I recall, Stone Prisoner DLC only was offered at launch because of the delay allowed the team to complete as they wished, and it remains a fave of mine to this day. Pls seek confirmation, but this seems to be something not left to the last hour.

"Grindy" sums up the whole problem with DAI. It should be fun, not tedious.

No.

They stated that development on this DLC started when the main game went into certification, i.e. directly after the game was completed. So at least 4 months, minus the holidays.

Next thing we know, they will be introducing a vampire DLC...

If that means we also get blood magic, I'd buy it.

Hell I'd buy it just to get vampires, or blood magic. (Lore-wise it's not even a stretch now with all those spirit/demon/abominations/cohabitation/spirit-assistance/spirit-toothbrushes/wth-but-it-wears-a-cool-hat... lollore additions!)

But then again, I'd have to slog through DA:I again... naaaaah I'll pass

The DLC is a big improvement over most of the zones.  I enjoyed myself quite a lot.  And it's *not* Skyrim.  There are barbarians like most classic fantasy RPGs, and they are done differently and are pretty fun to learn about.

bioware is not what it used to. Too many good devs have left the company. It has really gone down hill after the doctors have left.

Where have they gone? I'd really like to know what they are developing now...

They have got enough money from selling bioware to ea. So my guess is, they are current having pina colada on a beach somewhere in the Bahamas.

So basically we have to seek out and find the last Dragonborn, my bad, the last Inquisitor.

The Inquisitor we play is the last Inquisitor so far that we know of in the DA universe, but who knows as to what they will add in the future... the same goes for Dragonborn in Skyrim.

If the Dragonborn were seeking out where the last Dragonborn before him/her went, etc.., THEN you'd have a point -- jokingly or not.  But as it stands, I've revoked your gamer card.

Edit:   There is actually a lot of good lore and reasoning as to why this story-arc in the DLC is taking place.  I found it refreshing instead of the same ol' crap DLC packs, this actually was worth the price imo.

No game, developer, brand, publisher, series, character, genre, platform, game-control method, dlc, story, choices, etc...will be of everyone's preferred taste. However, the general consensus on this DLC that I have gotten from my friends, have read on forums in communities I'm a part of, read from trusted sources, etc.. seem to enjoy the DLC overall.

The dlc is good. Lots of exploration an interesting story and npc's that react to the state of the world.

I didn't pay anything for it (thanks to the code giveaway on twitter) but for the price it's worth it.

They sold it to an investment company first. Who then sold it onto EA

Dr. Zeschuk went into micro-brewing and Dr. Muzyka is with ThresholdImpact. Both are worth over $80 million each. The third founder Augustine Yip left Bioware in 1997 and went back to medicine where he has been very successful.
