I was disappointed big time. Actual tears formed. Bioware knew the A#1 question in everyone's mind was about Solas. I geared up my little rouge elf and went hunting for her man. not one sign of him anywhere that i found. I am wondering if all their secrecy was to mislead us into thinking he might be there. If you take the Arbor Wilds and the Fallow Mire and smash them together you get this land. turned out to be just another dragon hunt for 15 bucks.

I did see a theory going around that since Bioware have (apparently - uncomfirmed - I have no idea I'm just passing on what I heard) only committed to one DLC being timed platform-exclusive, they chose this one because it's essentially irrelevant to the story and that the non-exclusive DLC will be the meaty story DLC.

I have no idea of the truth of that theory or not but it does make some sense. If this had been a meaty story DLC with no release date for the other platforms then I'd imagine the crowd with the torches and pitchforks heading for Edmonton would have been rather large. At least with this one you and I can shrug our shoulders knowing we're not missing anything of importance.

Just finished the DLC. Agree that it's over-priced for what it is, and it doesn't add anything to the game at all. We see more of the Avvar lore and background, but it doesn't connect with the current story from DA:I or any of the loose threads, and it doesn't have any relation to any companions.

Kinda feel like I've just wasted 11 hours of my life (on annual leave from work) that could have been spent playing better games, namely FF T-0 and Bladestorm. Or even going outside in the sun, but in my defence it has been raining all day.

It is stupidly hard on nightmare though. The enemies level with you, I think the minimum level is 23 and I haven't seen the maximum yet, currently level 25. The rifts are harder but if you've already finished the game it shouldn't bother you, especially if you run a KE like me.

Saying that, the Hakkonites (Avvar) are stupidly hard. I got through 95% of the DLC on Nightmare, then realised that there was no Nightmare achievement so switched it to normal after being slaughtered by Hakkonite Spies (Rogues) over and over in the same spot. I hate Hakkonites. The archers... ugh.

You do get a new Inquisitor ability though, it throws a large fade bubble around you that blocks arrows. It is extremely useful because of how strong the enemy archers are, but it doesn't last long.

All in all, it would have been one of the better areas if included in the original game, but as a DLC it wasn't really what I was hoping for.

What did you do with DAO then? Everyones number 1 question was about Morrigan and the time we got the chance find her it was the last pic of dlc for the game.

Stop putting you expectations so high, they will give us dlc about Solas when they are ready and just wait till they do. Nothing about this dlc even remotely hinted that Solas was going to show up...Why even expect it?

I hope that Solas won't be DLC although I did favour the idea initially.  It seems too big a story for me to be squeezed into a few hours.  My hope is that it will be reserved for the next game.  I'm probably way off mark but that's what I'd like to see anyway.

I'm actually hoping that Solas will be dealt with over a large story arc of dlc's culminating in either a one massive add-on or DA4. So, for example, you have one DLC where your spies have tracked Solas to a new area. You go there, find lots of new quests/artefacts/ruins which you piece together to find out "Hey! Maybe more of these Elvhen gods are kicking around than just Mythal." Ending with big reveal of Solas as Dread Wolf and a hint at some of his world changing future plans. Then the next DLC perhaps trying to beat him to some magic powerful mcguffin etc. That's honestly what I would like. All with lots of development and character updates from your Inquisition and LI's.

I would really like it if people stopped acting like $15 is a fortune.

Geez, that's not even half a night out.

$25 for Australians for whats apparently around 5 hours of game. Thats a rip off.

Solasmancers will have their prize sonn, I'm sure. They did the same when us Morrigan lovers wondered where she had gone after DA Origins.

But I feel stupid now that I realize that you are, in all probability, a troll.

As a PS4 owner I'm pretty thankful there is nothing about Solas in this game. It would be incredibly unfair to those on PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360(?) to be left out of DLC involving post-game Solas, which is major storyline stuff. So I am seriously thankful that it's not the case.

I can't help but feel that the reason this DLC is what it is, is down to the fact that it's a timed exclusive. If this was a storyline heavy DLC then avoiding spoilers for what could be a few months would be incredibly difficult. By the time the game made it to the rest of us, we'd know it all and the point in buying it would be slightly diminished. Plus the uproar would be pretty immense.

But you can't really spoil this kind of DLC. It's all about gameplay so you need to play it to get the full experience. Microsoft gets it's timed exclusive, and they rest of us aren't getting screwed over for throwing our hats in with the other company.

So thank you, Bioware   you've made a DLC I'm interested in playing, but not furious about having to wait longer for.

They could price it at anything above free and there would probably be a thread about it being over priced.

That said, since I am cheap this isn't high on my list of things to spend $15 on.  Someone earlier suggested booze, so maybe I will do that.  But seriously, it is all relative.  DLC rarely gives you as many hours per dollar as the main game, but since I am not as rabid about DAI as Mass Effect, I don't feel a compelling need to get it.  The fact that you can wander around in the main game for eleventy billion hours already may have something to do with it as well.

It does sound over-priced and doesn't sound like the DLC I was hoping for, but I'll probably still get it if/when it comes out for PS4. I've spent 15 dollars on much stupider purchases.

Sorry folks, 2 hours in and it's worth 15 bucks already, the area is just awesome to look at, the avaar, may just be my new favorite people

Just got my butt kicked, somehow I got avvar and rift demons at the same time, on my way back to try again

Won't go into detail to avoid spoilers but many of the details in the landscape show a lot of work went into this

Everything I've seen so far indicates:

$15+ - if a Bio fan and you're gonna pay anything for it anyway, you know it.

$10-15 - if you're a supporter enough of this open worldynessstuffugh

$5-10 - if you're not a supporter enough of this open worldy

$0-5 (as in you might get it at some point but definitely not now) - if you're not a supporter of DAI, but you have it anyway, so you're checking this out

I see this in a similar vein to ME3 Omega, or ME2 Overlord.

Nothing has shown me otherwise. I think its slightly overpriced.

I hope both.

I hope that Solas IS DLC, and an important and amazing DLC.

But that we're not quite done with him after it.

Witch Hunt scale of things (as in 'oh, this is the plan! and cool stuff happening!') + Legacy size (as in, a major area, not a quick and clean lame rehash with only one important convo happening)

I call it "Jaws of Hakkon is overpriced and not worth buying"

gJZMnmH.jpg

P.S.: That's a lake.

P.P.S.: Seriously though, it's still just one additional area. So I'm not saying previous arguments aren't still correct.

P.P.P.S.: But it's very pretty.

Its alright, us PS4 players will get to let XboxOne and PC players beta test the dlc with their wallets. But from what I been reading the dlc is only worth trying to get better drops for material and what not but its basically just another area that doesn't add anything interesting.

I hope the idea that this is the only timed-exclusive dlc is right through because imagine a more story-drive dlc being in the loop of "We can not disclose when it will release on the other systems at this time" speech.

How can something be overpriced if the value was already set at 15 dollars? To quote the game your are playing "It is not overpriced it is simply priced."

I'm not playing Dragon Age at the moment so I can at least wait for the price to drop. The story has no relevance to the current Inquisition and you are instead digging up skeletons and searching for ghosts. I would much rather assist my current Inquisition then dig for bones. Plus dragon slaying does not help the Inquisition.

  A good hat cost well over $100.  $15 is barely two meals at McDonald's.  Look at it this way... Let's be generous and say $15 will get you two tickets to back to back Saturday matinees at the local movie theatre.  So that's three to four hours of entertainment.  So as long as this DLC gives you at least three to four hours of entertainment, you're getting your money's worth, and I'm willing to bet it's going to be longer  than that.  Plus, replay length.  Several Inkys and you're looking at probably 25+ hours, so now we're down to well under $1/hour of  entertainment.  That's a helluva bargain.

This is how I tend to look at it too tbh. The fact it's single player stuff is good given I only play sp. Looking forward to playing this but will wait until my next run before I do though as I'm working through a playthrough atm with an elf mage Inquisitor and I don't really wan tto disturb it as I'm already quite a way through so I will wait until I'm finished before I buy and download this. I know I'm going to get my moneys worth as I always do with my games. In fact my favourite level in Mass effect is a DLC ironically as it's the shadow broker one. Given how I've been playing DA a lot lately and am planning on more I'm pretty suer I'll get my money's worth.

I admit I was surprised at the price, but I really can't complain as I enjoyed it.  I put in about 2 hours last night, and continued playing today from 9am until 5:30pm when I beat it; that's about 10 1/2 hours of gameplay, and I still haven't finished everything in the zone.  The assault on the icy fortress was really fun, too, and holy hell I HAVE A PET BEAR.

The best part, hands down, was the Ameridan storyline.  Hakkon-schmakkon, give me that sweet Inquisition lore, mmm mmm.

I wonder, is it just our region or a new trend?

Xbox version is cheaper than Origin\PC where I live. 599 for xbox vs 799 for PC.

Sigh....I think it's time to just put DA:I aside and move on.  Absolutely no one asked for another lifeless zone.  I can't play the ones that came with the game.

And all this talk about price...if the content is worth it, people will buy it.  Who wants to actually spend money on another lifeless zone full of bland quests, codex entries and no cutscenes?

I was hoping the DLC would improve this game.  That's not going to be the case, apparently.  Ah, well.

That's an obtuse question. Obviously people are talking about what they consider value for that price.

So far, this doesn't look like good value to me.

I don't find this DLC overpriced at all. I really enjoy playing the new area, and the quests. Well worth the cost in my opinion.
